The look

Carl’s come to make peace; Rachel’s face (expression stolen from LOD) says it all.

This goes with a one shot I wrote about the aftermath of the cafe episode in ep. 8. I’m intrigued by how Rachel got from the cafe scene to Carl’s flat in ep. 9 and I kinda love it when shows leave you to fill the gaps. So much daydreaming to be done!

Had a lot of fun with a lettering/animation tutorial in Procreate and had to experiment on my favourite theme. Used CapCut for the effects and transitions. The result is totally clunky and totally weird. But I animated a tennis ball 🎾 (which is something I couldn’t do yesterday). So that’s progress…

Working on this drawing of three epic Dept. Q characters using a BTS post from Catriona Stirling. It’s too scribbly and muddy but I like their bad ass vibes. Doolally Academy is needed in Series 2.

A few swears in the song but (therefore) it’s perfect for them. Not least because of the Morckmobile engine rev a few seconds in. 🚘

🌹 Rose 🌹 - Dept. Q - Leah Byrne.

Love this character and her magnificent portrayal by Leah Byrne. Rose says what we are all thinking whilst also smashing life as a detective. She brings softness to Carl and heartstrings and humour to some of the most painful topics in the show. This portrait is a celebration of Leah’s real-and-definitely-not-a-wig hair. Beautiful character; beautiful lady. Hoping that we get to see more of her in Season 2 ❤️

I loved the way he was pacing like an animal outside when he spotted her and then had to go in and see her - partly because of what Moira said but muchly because of just wanting to spar with her. And she handled him like an expert. Just loved it ❤️❤️❤️
