It took two whole nights to process all of these rosehips but it was worth it. I made a delicious blend of dried hips, chamomile, and peppermint.
Collected from Rosa Arkansana nearby. There was a frankly ridiculous amount of plants in the next door field. I hope to plant a whole bunch more next year *chuckles evilly*

Whole wheat flour, oats, carrot, peanut butter, a bit of honey, and an egg
I wanted to make a good impression on my new aunties in law since they have doggos. Was gonna see one of them tomorrow and help her with her garden

My excitement comes from having only just moved to the Great Plains and having so many new things to explore.
And a whole lot of ecological cleanup to do.
Shakes menacingly at the thistles and yellow sweetclover outside

Local species identified
Great blanketflower-Gallardia Aristata
Shame I only caught these at the end of flowering but I’m looking forward to collecting some seeds for the next year since this is the only one of this plant I’ve seen nearby.

Pile of cirsium arvense that I ripped out and pulled apart for cooking experiments. To note though the roots are way too woody to be very good but a decoction made from them is apparently a strong diuretic. Midrib of the leaves is too small for it to be worth much cutting out and they stay stringy after a few minutes of cooking. So I think I will next try to just get the spines off the leaves and cut out the middle so the leaf bits can be used as a pot herb?
There’s still plenty of thistle to destroy.
Also I have started a twine project with the fibres. I was too lazy to go through the retting process so it’s not the best twine I could have produced but it is better than no twine.
