Water conservation: why it is important
Water illustrates the natural processes that nature uses to clean and recycles.
Conservation is something that is an important aspect in the environment and the day to day activities of the humans who inhabit the earth. It refers mostly to reducing the amount of water usages and recycling of water waste for many different purposes to be reused such as manufacturing, cleaning, and agricultural irrigation. A lot of time there are a few different definitions, and it can be narrowed down to the beneficial reduction in any water, usable or waste, and the preservation of the water quality. This should also improve the water efficiency measures, and practice improved management of water practice that can reduce or even enhance the use of water in a more beneficial way. It is mostly an action, advice, technology, behavioural change, or use water. Water efficiency is normally a tool used for water conservation.
There are goals of water conservation including the efforts that people can take in order to pitch in on this cause. The goal include sustainability to ensure that there is water for future generation of people and the water taken should not exceed the amount that can be replaced, energy conservation using, pumping, delivery, and treatment sites that consume the energy to replace, distribute, and clean water and habited conservation which will be minimize the use of water by human which allows local habitats to have enough water to survive. This reduce any needs of building new dams.

Bio-Toilets
Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Swachh Bharat Mission) accelerates cleanliness coverage in rural and urban areas. In order to get a healthy and clean environment for the citizens of India, the stakeholders and people of all sections of society have welcomed it. The main components of Bio toilet are pre-fabricated above ground shelter and bio digester tank. Bio digester tank is a cylindrical structure with outlet arrangements for inlet and bio-gas for human waste. Bio gas can be used for heating various energy incentive activities such as cooking water and room. Liquid waste can be pitted on any surface or without any environmental hazards
Benefits:
·        Generates color less, odor less inflammable bio gas, hence gas can be used as an alternative for cooking gas
·        Disposal of Human waste in an absolute Eco Friendly manner.
·        Generates clear odor less water full of nutrients and minerals, hence water can be used for irrigation purposes.
·        Works without septic tank or sewage tank connectivity and required no       sludge disposal. Hence suitable for mobile toilet applications.
·        Complete elimination of pathogens.
·        Continuous Biological process, with absolutely no maintenance.

Environmental and Climate Change
Environment in urban cities is damaging gradually, starting from bad air quality to worst water quality. We are depleting our resource at a pace that our future generation could not even see that they ever existed. Planning of environment in cities is a crucial practice and considering it in a holistic manner is necessary i.e. Natural environment, social, political and economic to achieve sustainable outcomes. Our objective is to conserve natural resources and bio-diversity by following methods of scientific process and planning for sustainable development without regard to traditional disciplinary boundaries.
·         Air Quality
·         Climate Change
·         Renewable Energy
·         Water Scarcity
·         Resilient Cities
Air Quality
Air pollution in today’s date is one of the major issues faced by many cities around the globe. As per WHO, 3.7 million premature death happens due to air pollution each year. Addressing urban air quality is emerging to be top environmental challenges. Increasing burden of population in developing countries is worsening the situation. In India, many cities such as Delhi, Gurugram, Faridabad, Bhiwadi, etc are having facing worst level of air quality. We carry out research in the following areas:
·         Source Apportionment studies
·         Multivariate Analysis
·         Causal-effect studies
·         Air Quality Modeling
·         Air Quality Mapping
 Climate Change
Different Green House Gases(GHGs) such as Carbon Dioxide, Methane, Nitrous Oxide, etc are present in earth’s surface. They create a blanket in the environment which traps the heat required for sustenance of life on Earth. Due to anthropogenic activities especially burning of fossil fuels has led to increase in average temperature of Earth surface. The impacts of global warming can be disastrous i.e. rising sea level, melting of glaciers, changes in weather patterns, etc. We must respond to it at the earliest before we regret. We should move towards non-conventional sources of energy that can reduce the overall greenhouse gases in the environment. We carry out research in the following areas:
·         Low-carbon Transport
·         Carbon footprint
·         Renewable energy
·         Pollution Pricing
   Renewable Energy
We know that energy is source of all the functioning happen around the globe. Introduction to new technologies demands for high reserves for energy and conventional sources are depleting at a faster rate which may last for few more decades. We need to bring in technologies to run the planet on non-conventional renewable energy sources. We encourage ourselves to work on various sources of renewable energy:
·         Wind energy
·         Feasibility Studies
·         Hydro-power
·         Bio-fuel
·         Solar energy
 Resilient Cities
Cities being a major focus of investment in terms of infrastructure carry a burden of risk from natural and man-made calamities. The readiness of a city to face any disaster can save a lot of resources. A city should be prepared enough to absorb the impacts of a disaster and recover from it with least damage possible. The component of resilience for a city to stand on its own is mentioned below:
·         Economically Resilient
·         Socially Resilient
·         Environmentally Resilient
·         Institutionally Resilient
 Water Scarcity
As per UN WATER “Water scarcity can mean scarcity in availability due to physical shortage, or scarcity in access due to the failure of institutions to ensure a regular supply or due to a lack of adequate infrastructure.” The water currently has not much of a shortage issue around the global but because of our increasing demand we need to think about the availability of fresh water. Some regions have already started to show the trends of waste shortage.
·         Water Demand supply gap studies
·         Groundwater conservation
·         Water Quality Assessment
·         Urban Water and sanitation policy

Waterless Urinal reduce cost and help to save water
Many companies provide bathroom facilities for their customer. Like something that general public has come to expect. Waterless urinal appealing to a business owner looking to cut down on water costs. Creators of landmark invention says that waterless urinal can save between 15,000 and 45,000 gallon of water per year. When compared to a conventional urinal, this is assuming that the unit would be used between 40 and 120 times daily.
Design of the urinal works by using a trap and liquid sealant instead of water. When a man uses the waterless urinal, the sealant, which is lighter than water, float on top of the urine, sealing on the odors. The urinal collects on the U-bend pipe. The cartridge and sealant must be replaced timely.
Waterless urinals saving water from going down the drain:
The concept of waterless urinal in men’s bathroom may seem impossible but the technology exits now to make this product in reality. Not only do they save a business hundred of dollar on the operational water bill, these devices also contribute to environmental conversation by reducing water consumption.
A properly operating unit can save anywhere from 15,000 t as 45,000 gallons of water that would otherwise be flushed down the drain.

The capability of the governments to attain their social and economic goals with limited resources is dependent on the coherence, lucidity and flexibility of public administration institutions. Regardless of the economic progress seen around the world, some economies are marked with a very interesting paradox - on one hand, quick economic progress, and extreme social and economic inequality, especially women, girls, marginalized and weaker groups for. Therefore social inclusion and gender equality are important for achieving long-term development goals, which make great improvements in the lives of the poorest people in the world.

Waterless no flush urinal
Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Swachh Bharat Mission) accelerates cleanliness coverage in rural and urban areas. In order to get a healthy and clean environment for the citizens of India, the stakeholders and people of all sections of society have welcomed it.This retrofit is Malodor Technique which fits on the basis of urine bowl. It has an inlet and outlet cartridge through which the urine passes and once the urine leaves, the outlet is sealed. Technology converts traditional urinal into Malodore. There is no need to remove the old urinal bowl.
Advantages
Malodors do not require a constant source of water
Can be built and repaired with locally available materials
Low capital and operating costs
Malodors produce fewer odours than urinals with water flush and also have no problems with urinal cakes (odour and urinal cakes occur when urine is mixed with water)
Malodors contribute to water saving at the greatest possible degree
Surface water and aquifers are protected from nutrients and pharmaceuticals if the urine is collected separately.
Cause of Foul Smell in Urinals:
Benefits After the urine, the residual urine gets deposited in the tube's tube pipe. The components of the urine have natural odor because it contains various chemical components. Volatile chemicals and gases are produced with the presence of ammonium and sulfur compounds and the volatile odor with urine microbial decay. These gases emerge from urinal pores and cause stenosis in toilets and washrooms.
