Bucky: Okay Morgan, there are 206 bones in the body, but! I’m gonna teach you how to dislocate someone’s body in 230 ways—
Sam: Dude. She’s a kid.
Morgan:…
Bucky: Oh yeah! You’re right.
*turns around for a few seconds before turning back with puppets over his hands*
Bucky, in somewhat a Kermit the frog’s voice: Hi kids! We’re going to show you how to dislocate someone’s body! Let’s start with the Clavicle region. Do you know where that is?
Sam: oh my god.

First Sight | Fox Mulder x M!reader
request: Fox Mulder with “ when I first saw you, I saw love ”? - anonymous
summary: you and Fox have a bit of a talk about your relationship
warnings: swearing
word count: 581
Sat there with your headphones on, typing away on your laptop, ‘Sin’ by Nine Inch Nails the only thing you could hear, you were unaware of Fox’s gaze upon you as he fixed himself a cup of coffee in his little kitchen; he wasn’t really sure how to say it, wasn’t really sure of what the words to use would be, but he knew he felt deeply for you. He liked your taste in music, for a start, heavy metal and rock at all hours of the day, ‘Rock You Like a Hurricane’ by Scorpions had been on before the Nine Inch Nails song, and you had dared to sing along, which made Fox smile as he pretended not to be eavesdropping, to be working on filling out those forms for Scully - he had let her down a few times with paperwork before, and you had told him that if he didn’t do it this time, you wouldn’t go to Roswell with him to see if you could find anything. That was another thing he liked about you, the fact that you were friends with all of his friends, clicking with them almost immediately upon meeting them, the Gunmen especially, and he would have been a fool if he had said that he didn’t notice how you and Byers had definitely gotten closer than he had ever expected. He liked that he could talk to you about things he daren’t utter to anybody else, not even Scully, and she was his best friend. He liked that he could sit in perfect silence with you on the days where you both needed silence and darkness when the world was too loud and too bright and too busy. He liked that he could spend hours talking to you and never once would you shut him down or tell him to shut up, you would encourage him to speak on the interests he was so keen on. Fox liked you. Fox liked you like Kentucky moonshine liked a glass on a hot day.
“Y’know what I like about you, Fox?” You asked, not even looking up from your laptop as you smiled a little to yourself.
“What?”
“You don’t make me feel like shit,” you chuckled, biting at the inside of your lip. “You make me feel good about myself, even when you don’t say anything. You don’t shame me for shit I like, you don’t complain about what music I listen to, you don’t say shit when I want a day of quiet and darkness - you… you make me feel alright, Fox. Even on the shitty days. And I love you, y’know, you’re the first man I’ve been with that I know I can say I love you without shame. I love you.”
“I kind of feel the same,” he admitted quietly, swallowing thickly and wondering how he was supposed to say it, but then he figured that the best thing to do was just to say it the way he thought of it. “When I saw you, I saw love - and I don’t mean first sight, I mean-”
“First proper sight,” you nodded. “Once we got to know each other, it was… yeah. Definitely first sight for me, too…”
“You’re the only man I’ve ever felt like this for,” Fox said. “Which sounds-”
“It sounds like your way of telling me you love me,” you said quietly, placing your hand on his cheek and offering a sweet smile. “I love you, too.”

okay okay hear me out. sambucky visiting an aquarium or sea world with sarah, cass and aj on a day out !! im gonna write in bulletpoint form because i don't have energy to write a proper narrative. but i promise this is going to be tooth-rotting-ly sweet
sarah mentioned going to an aquarium with the kids at dinner which prompts bucky to ask what that is
"you've never been to an aquarium before?"
"no? should i?"
cass and aj immediately insist uncle sam and bucky join them on their trip
bucky being as excited as the kids because he's never been to such a place before
sam rolls his eyes like do we really need to take his "co-worker" to a family bonding event 🙄 (all lies he loves the idea)
"yes, sam, bucky has to come with us! why? you have a problem with it? come on, its going to be fun!"
they get those bracelet ticket things and bucky almost offers his metal arm to the employee
(those bracelet things are cute i have to include it for no reason. its adorable thats it)
bucky barnes is a NERD and he definitely reads every metal placard with cass and aj
"SAM OH MY GOSH ITS A SHARK! SAM DO YOU THINK THE GLASS WILL BREAK AND IT'LL EAT US?" "NO BUCKY. SHARKS CANT BREATHE OUT OF WATER" "oh yea. BUT WHAT IF THE WATER COMES WITH IT THO"
sarah can't stop laughing at that conversation and she assures bucky that the glass wont break and its a shark-safe zone
cass trying to pronounce the scientific names of sea creatures
aj saying they all sound like harry potter spells
"whats harry potter?"
"you've never been to an aquarium AND you've dont know harry potter? mr bucky, i thought you lived a long life"
"aj thats not very nice-" "uh sorry uncle sam" but bucky is just laughing "its fine, sam"
they go to the tunnel and sam has to hold bucky up straight because hes too in awe
somewhere along the tunnel, bucky took sam's hand and he isnt letting go anytime soon
which leads to him dragging sam everywhere and sam is just too focused on the fact that their holding hands in public
holyshitholyshithelpwhatthefuck whyamifeeling likethis SARAHHELP
sarah just looks knowingly and smiles to herself. these two are so oblivious and DUMB
bucky staring at the wall-sized exhibit, not realizing that sam is staring at him
"sam! oh my goodness! look at that manta ray!" but sam doesn't reply
bucky looks over to see sam looking at him, grinning and shaking his head
"never seen you this happy, buck"
"yeah yeah okay" hes kinda embarrassed now
cass and aj forced them all to the souvenir shop and sarah limits them to buying ONE stuffed animal
"you have so many already!"
cass picks a stuffed lionfish and aj picks a stuffed beluga whale. sarah even got a turtle keychain for her car keys too
bucky ready to buy everything for the kids if he could but sarah wouldn't let him so he hought he'd buy one for himself and one for sam
he decided on a grey stuffed manta ray
"it looks like its smiling on its belly, sam, its adorable. i need it. you need one to. pick a color. do you want blue or grey" "fine fine blue"
sam and bucky are wayy to attached to their stuffed manta rays now

Sleepless | Fox Mulder x Male!Reader
request; "Hey pal, you know who this is from Archive. Could I get “I know how stupid it sounds to say you’re in love with your best friend” with Mulder? Thanks a lot! Your writing is awesome - never lose sight of that!" // anon
summary; Mulder lets you stay with him when you can't sleep.
notes; insomnia, vegetarian/vegan food.
It had been a tiring day at work for Fox, he had been chucked around and had hit his head on a few things here and there during a scuffle, a few bruises on his face were testament to that, so when he felt someone grab his waist from behind as he went to unlock his door, he stiffened and was about to put his FBI training to good use… until he caught a whiff of a familiar aftershave, and heard a familiar growl that was muffled against his coat.
"Foxy, can I stay here with you?"
Fox could never say no to you, agreeing before he let you in and allowed you to wander into the kitchen as he hung his coat up; already you were sat on the counter drinking some Red Bull he kept in the fridge for your visits; it made him smile as he went to go make himself some coffee.
"What are you doing here, did something happen)? What's wrong?"
You shrugged, biting at your lip and sighing. "I can't sleep."
He frowned at that, running his thumb along his bottom lip. "Is it the same as last time?"
You nodded, sighing heavily as you placed the can down, jumping slightly at the sound before you rubbed the back of your neck and gulped almost certainly audibly; you tilted your head to the side as you watched Fox potter about the kitchen to put things in place, he loosened his tie, letting it drape over his chest in two clear halves as he undid a few of his shirt buttons. You would normally make a comment about such a view, but you couldn't. "It's always the same, I… I spoke to Scully and she couldn't help, even though she tried, but she said she'd talk to a therapist she knows and get me in to see them."
Fox's gaze softened as he came to stand between your legs, wrapping his arms around your waist and hugging you tightly as he nodded. "I'm here, I got you… did you bring a bag or anything with you?"
You shook your head, clinging onto him as you squeezed your eyes tightly shut. "No… I… I'm sorry, Fox, I-"
He pulled away, shaking his head and licking his lips, he managed to muster up a sad smile. "You can borrow my stuff, I don't mind. But don't be sorry, (y/n), you did the right thing by coming to see me - I mean, I can't help, but… I'm here."
"Thank you," you murmured, burying your head against the side of his neck as your grip on him grew a little bit tighter for that little bit of extra reassurance.
"It's okay."
---
After getting something ordered in from the local takeaway and binging some old black and white films about a London detective and his doctor friend, you wound up falling asleep on Fox, cuddled into his side; he was still wide awake when the last film ended, but couldn't bring himself to reach for the remote to turn the television off, he couldn't bring himself to do anything except relax against the fabric cushions and lay an arm over your shoulders, he reached up a little so that he could brush the hair along the side of your head gently.
"Foxy…" you murmured, wriggling into him even more, desperate to get closer despite it being impossible. Your stomach rumbled. "'M hungry…"
"I got some stuff in the fridge," he replied quietly, feeling guilty that he had caused you to stir and wake. "I think I got some vegan burgers and that veggie bacon you like… and cheese, I think I have some cheese."
"I'll do it," you grumbled, just about to get up when Fox gently pushed you back down, shaking his head as he stood up slowly. "Fox…"
"It's fine," he assured, smiling a little. He had to admit, he was fairly hungry himself. "Do you want me to do them the usual way?"
You nodded, agreeing with a mumble, only just about opening one eye to watch him leave you; you couldn't help but to think that perhaps one day, one day where you weren't so tired all the time and where you weren't such a burden to him, that you might finally be able to admit your feelings. That the reason why you always ran to him for help wasn't just because he was your best friend, wasn't just because you had known him for so long; Fox was the one person you felt safest with, he was the only person you could feel at ease around, the only person who could get you to fall asleep. Songs on the radio reminded you of him, his smile made you relax and feel as if everything was going to be okay; you truly did love Fox, but you knew that he would never love you back. Fox Mulder would never love a man like you.
You got up after a moment, and when you saw Mulder frying fake bacon in a pan, you smiled, sitting on the counter once more and looking over at him with such a soft gaze that it made even teddy bear stuffing seem coarse.
"Thank you," you said, laying a hand on his shoulder and scratching at your jaw, you really needed to shave. "Really, Fox, I-"
"Hey," he took his eyes off of the frying pan for a moment in order to meet your gaze, placing his hand over yours as he smiled. "Don't worry about it… you know I'd do anything for you."
Anything, he had said, anything was true but what he really wanted to say was that he would do anything to see you happy, that he would physically fight the aliens he believed in just to make you smile, that he would move earth and heaven in order to hear you laugh; sure, you were his best friend, sure you were the man he trusted more than anyone else, sure you were the person he looked forward to seeing whenever it was possible, but… but he also loved you. He also wanted to be able to kiss you and to hold your hand and fall asleep with you, and not just as friends, as something much much more; he knew that he could kiss you and hold your hand and fall asleep with you, but he wanted that extra bit of affection, that extra dosage of bliss of "he loves me, and I love him", that romance.
"It's wrong, innit?" You sighed, hanging your head. "It's really fucking wrong…"
Fox frowned at that, furrowing his brows as he bit at the inside of his cheek. "What is?"
"To be in love with you," you said, your voice breaking slightly. "Fox, I… I know how stupid it sounds to say you’re in love with your best friend, and I know how stupid it sounds to say it and that it's wrong to be in love with your best friend, but-"
"I love you, too," he said softly, giving your hand a gentle squeeze. "It's not… it's not stupid, or wrong, (y/n), I… I love you, too."
You smiled, about to say something when you caught a whiff of something burning.
"Fox, the bacon's burning, baby."
Whipping around, he quickly grabbed the frying pan, taking it off the hob and laughing softly. "Sorry… I'll go up the shop and get some more."
"Nah, don't worry about it," you chuckled softly, pulling him between your legs and planting a soft kiss to his forehead. "You tried, Foxy, and that's all that matters… but I guess it's kinda good that I couldn't sleep, right? I mean, if I couldn't sleep, I wouldn't have come over…"
"I'm glad you did," Fox agreed, leaning his head against your chest. "But I do wish you'd sleep more.. and if you want, when you go to see that friend if Scully's, I can… I can go with you."
"You'd do that?" You asked softly.
"Yeah, I'd do anything for you."

Snowing! | Fox Mulder x Gender Neutral!Reader
summary; for the first time in a long time, you see snow.
notes; this is just fluffy, I promise
It was getting late as you and your boyfriend snuggled down on the sofa, the fairy lights you had insisted on putting on his shelves glowing gold were twinkling softly as they always did throughout the year, his head was on your chest, arms around your waist as you gently ran your hand through his hair, using your arm to prop yourself up against the arm of the sofa; he was so tired lately, so run down and exhausted, but now Skinner had given him a couple of days off, insisting that he had to or else, but as he looked up at you, even Fox knew that he wasn't the only one feeling the sluggishness and lethargy of the cold Winter. At the end of the room by Fox's desk, the windows were fogged up with condensation, only leaving a slightly visible outline of what was clearly an alien giving any onlookers the middle finger, crudely drawn in the fog with fingertips, smudges of thicker condensation clung to the windows from giggles and hushed laughter; but Fox knew that you were tired and run down and exhausted just as much as he was, after all, staying cooped up in his little flat for so long was going to take a toll on anyone, even more so a pair of insomniacs who spent most of the days watching nature documentaries.
"It's snowing," you grinned when you saw the first little snowflakes falling outside. "Fox, look!"
Shuffling so that he was sat between your legs, Fox turned his attention to the foggy windows, and smiled. "So it is…"
You groaned as you awkwardly wriggled and struggled to run to the window, looking outside of it with wide eyes; you had seen snow before, here and there, but it was always something that you had loved, something that had excited you even though the threat of cold fingertips and icy lips loomed over it. You didn't dare to take your eyes off of the sight as you gestured for Fox to stand beside you. "Look at it! It's coming down so fast!"
Fox smiled as he laid his hand between your shoulder blades, his fingers splayed as he dared to look at you instead of where your excitement had laid; he had never seen someone so excited about a bit of snow before. "Why don't we go outside? Grab our coats and boots, we could take a walk in it."
You practically lit up, stumbling as you ran to grab your coat, practically tripping over your own feet when you grabbed your boots; but before you could run to the door, Fox gently caught you, laying a scarf around your neck and doing it up before he dumped a thick hat on your head. "C'mon, let's go!"
Rolling his eyes and stuffing his Polaroid camera in his pocket when you looked away, Fox chuckled as he allowed you to drag him all the way outside, but he still shivered a little when he stepped outside, that winter chill getting to him for a moment before he let go of your hand and stuffed his hands in his pockets; your lips parted as you gazed up at the sky, eyes wide with wonderment. Fox brought out his camera, holding it steady and taking a quick shot; he stuffed the picture in the inside pocket of his coat. "I've never known someone to be so excited about some snow."
"Look at it!" You barked happily, unable to take your eyes from the sky. Little spots of snow stuck to your hat and landed on your face, and Fox did his best not to think about what a sight it was to see you so excited, so suddenly full of energy. "It's beautiful!"
When you started to run to him, you nearly tripped on the ice, but you fell right into Fox's arms, and he raised a brow as he laughed. "I know you said you fell for me, (y/n), but-"
"Shut up," you chuckled, dusting yourself off before planting a soft kiss to his lips, cold but somehow so full of warmth. "Thank you, Fox."
"It's fine," he said softly. "Y'know, if it settles, we could have a snowball fight tomorrow."
You raised your brows at the thought, practically pleading with your gaze. "Is that a promise?"
"Sure." He agreed with a curt nod. "Might as well have some fun in the snow while it's here, right?"

Chomp Chomp | Fox Mulder x Male!Reader
request; Hey! I really love your work and I see that your the only one writing for Mulder x male reader so thank you so much!!!!
I was wondering if you could do a Mulder x male reader where they work together on a case of something and even when the case is closed they want to see each other again? Please and thank, love u ❤️ - anon
summary; Fox meets an alligator expert who just might be the man that will steal his heart.
warnings; mentions of human death
The case involving the twenty-somethong foot alligator that had been fought to be a cryptid and had been terrorising a small town in Mississippi had finally been shut, with the alligator being moved by you and your team to a nature reserve a few hours away; working alongside the one and only Fox Mulder had been amazing, if you were honest, as he was charming and he was funny, and he was definitely good looking.
You had been assigned to help the Federal Bureau of Investigation with the case, as you worked specifically with alligators and you did mostly work within Mississippi, and they had thought that you could lend some of your expertise to help the FBI's most unwanted. Locals had described the creature as being so fast that the only thing they saw were the flash of the claws in the light and the great teeth, the sound of the jaws as they snapped down on the alligator's prey. He was keen on dragging his prey down into the deepest part of the river to eat the head first - after all, it was where the most protein was. Affectionately, you had started to call the alligator Chomp Chomp, and Fox had agreed with the nickname. The first victim was ripped into shreds, and witnesses had reported hearing the wails as the alligator bit through the legs. One by one, more people had gone missing, and the massacre would forever haunt the small town. A giant caiman, some had called it, others had said it was a crocodile. They were all wrong. In an effort to secure the alligator and to get it moved safely, you had to jump into the river, jumping into the swampy water unable to see what was beneath you; the alligator could have easily mauled you to death without a second thought, but by luck and luck alone, you had managed to get on its back and tie some rope around its mouth to stop it. Fox had called you brave, and you had brushed it off with a nervous rub of the back of your neck, telling him that you did it all the time, wrangling alligators.
But now, you were both sat in a little local cafe, drinking coffee that was probably the best you had ever tasted, and deciding whether or not you wanted something to eat; Fox kept the conversation easy, his eyes lighting up a little and his gaze softening each time you dared to smile at him. You were so handsome. He was sure that he would never, and had never, met a man like you before.
"So, uh, what made you wanna work with alligators?" He asked.
"They're my favourite animal," you admitted with a soft chuckle. "I mean, they're amazing creatures, and so misunderstood, too, like did you know..."
Fox wasn't listening, not really, too focused on how much you clearly loved to share your knowledge, too focused on thinking about how handsome you looked when you talked passionately, when your eyes lit up and you had to chew at the inside of your cheek to stop yourself from grinning. Fox liked that about you, how passionate you were about your work.
"I wanna see you again." Fox deadpanned, pulling out a card from his wallet and sliding it over to you. "My home number, and address in case your ever in the area."
"Alligators in Washington?" You chuckled when you looked at the card.
"Stranger things have happened," he shrugged.
"Yeah, you're not wrong," you agreed with a nod, pocketing the card and biting at the corner of your mouth. "Mulder?"
"Yeah?"
"What if... what if we went to a drive-through cinema or... or maybe a restaurant, or something?" You asked quietly, clearly nervous as you slumped in your seat and tried to avoid his gaze.
"I'd like that," Fox replied, "but only if it's a date."
"Yeah, no, no, yeah, of, of course," you stammered and stuttered, cursing yourself for tripping over your words. "Maybe we could meet somewhere between Mississippi and Washington?"
"Sure," he agreed, a small smile on his face. "I'm leaving tomorrow afternoon... if you wanted to show me around, y'know, in case I ever get called out here again."
"I'd love to show you around," you said softly, nodding. "Y'know, as... as a professional courtesy, for helping me catch Chomp Chomp."

Job Offering | Fox Mulder x Male!Reader
request; I'm really sorry but I'm gonna ask for one again bc my heart... Could you do like a kind of part 2 of chomp chomp ( Mulder x male) were the reader get a job offer at the Smithsonian museum for research or something and he surprised Mulder with the news? Like something fluffy bc I can't handle angst and i't will fill my heart with joy 😔❤️
Thanks love u - anon
summary; you get an offer for a temporary job at the zoo, putting you in the exact same place with Mulder - but will he appreciate his boyfriend being in town and so close?
warnings; swearing
author’s note; please listen to Chomp Chomp by Alestorm 🥺, also I changed it from the Smithsonian to the zoo (just bc it keeps w the alligator thing djfkdjdjdjs)
Part One: CHOMP CHOMP
A job offer had come to you shortly after your work with Mulder, who you saw occasionally when you both had time and could both meet between Mississippi and Washington, just a temporary job helping out the zoo in Washington - their alligators had been showing signs of stereotypical behaviour as well as becoming aggressive towards one another, and as you were the expert, your help was recommended; things were going well in Mississippi, though, the alligator population along the river was thriving and less and less people were stealing their eggs and poaching the bigger bulls - so you discussed the temporary job with your team, as although you were more than confident in them, you didn't want to leave if they needed you. But they told you that it was fine, thanks to things calming down they could spare you, and with the relief of knowing that things wouldn't go terribly the second you stepped foot in Washington, you called up the zoo, and you accepted their offer.
Before your trip to Washington, though, you decided against telling Fox about it as you wanted it to be a surprise and you didn't feel like ruining such a surprise whilst on your last meeting-in-the-middle-date with him; but you were excited when you landed in Washington, more than excited to rush through the airport and to your taxi - the zoo had offered to pay for your accommodation in a block of flats, the same one where Fox lived, for the time that you would be helping them. Although it was on the floor above and further down the hall, so you weren't exactly neighbours.
Putting your things away in the flat was easy enough, just a few things to go into cupboards and drawers and the like, just a few lots of clothes that were easily washed and dried in the local laundromat; you were excited, you weren't sure how Fox would handle it, though. You had been dating for a little while, sure, but you didn't know if he would find it as exciting as you did; eventually, though, you picked up the phone at the bedside table, and you put in his number. Two rings, and he answered.
"Mulder."
"Hey," you knew the word broke slightly beneath your nerves.
"(y/n)? Is that you?" Fox asked gently.
"Yeah, it's me,"you were getting nervous, "what would you say if I was in Washington right now?"
"I'd ask you to come over to my place and bring some orange juice," he laughed softly. "Why?"
"I'm, uh, I'm kind of in Washington," you chuckled.
"Where?" He asked.
"Same block of flats as you," you explained, "next floor up, down the hall... why?"
There was silence for a moment and the ruffling and flicking through of a stack of papers before he sighed heavily. "I've got work early tomorrow, a meeting with Skinner about my latest report - come by the office for lunch?"
"Sure," you smiled, although there was something in your chest that made your heart sink. "You're not... you're not mad, are you?"
"Are you kidding?" Fox scoffed. "My boyfriend's finally in town and I get to see him again - why would I be mad?"
You checked in with your team back in Mississippi first thing in the morning, and they had told you that their only problem was that they had run out of teabags and the local shops didn't sell the brand that they liked; you asked what day you would start at the zoo, and the keeper on the phone told you that tomorrow would be best as the zoo would be closed and the veterinary team were visiting to check on all the other animals so they could help you, as well. It was a relief to know that your first real day in Washington wasn't going to be all work and no play, you could sort yourself out and could inform yourself of the area - although you had to admit, you weren't keen on the city itself. It was so loud, for a start, too many noises going on at once and too much volume to said noises; not to mention that being around so many people made you shake and tremble, your heart beating right out of your chest as you thought about how they were all laughing at you and they were all judging you; you weren't a big fan of the city, and when you eventually went over to the FBI building, you were coldly sweating and had a panicked look in your eyes.
The security guard was kind, though, and he complimented your hair with an approving nod, which made you smile as you got into the lift and went down to the basement, following the guard's instructions as you made sure that the visitor badge on your person was more than visible; you knocked on the door before opening it, and smiled as your gaze settled on Fox.
"Did you get here okay?" He asked, folded arms on the desk and his chin resting on his wrist as he looked at you with a lazy smile, his hair slightly out of place.
You took the seat opposite his desk and sighed heavily, placing the takeaway bag on the desk before leaning back in your chair and curling your throat. "Yeah, just... the city's a bit overwhelming, if I'm honest."
Fox nodded, understanding more than he wanted to admit as he sat up and looked into the bag eagerly. You had gotten his favourite, and for that, he would love you forever. "What made you wanna come here?"
"I, uh, I got a job offer," you explained, "y'know, kind of standard shit - zoo thinks its gators are exhibiting stereotypical behaviour and some other fucking stuff... it's temporary..."
"Temporary," Fox sounded disappointed as he opened the takeaway container and let the steam rise out of it. As glad as he was that you were in town, he had to admit that it was bittersweet to know that you would leave. Even still, he smiled and he tapped the desk softly. "Either way, I'm glad you're here."
"You are?" You asked quietly, reaching into the bag and pulling out what you gotten yourself. You copied his actions, although you placed the lid to the side of you instead of beneath the container.
"My boyfriend's in town, I'm having lunch with him for once, and it's only a two minute walk to his place," Fox shrugged, daring to let his smile get a little bit bigger. "I'm glad you're here, (y/n)."
You smiled back, running a hand across the back of your neck. "You're amazing."
"Maybe I should introduce you to some of my friends, other than Scully, I know you two get along just fine," he started, "for starters, the Lone Gunmen, Byers would love to meet you - do you know anything about bears?"
"A few bits here and there," you answered, "why?"
"He'll tell you," Fox replied, "if you do wanna meet them, that is."
"I do," you agreed. "I mean, I'd like to, but can it be the evening? I don't wanna sound selfish, but fuck, Fox, I wanna have some time with you all to myself."
His eyes flashed with excitement for a split second as he grinned and nodded. He was definitely glad that you had gotten that job offer. "I should be home at eleven tonight. I can leave the door unlocked or-"
"I'll swing by at half past," you chuckled, shaking your head. "If that's alright with you?"
"Yeah," his voice went quieter, almost as if he didn't want to disturb the peace that was budding in the room. "Y'know, I really am glad you took that job offer."
"I am, too... maybe tomorrow you could come down to the zoo and we could wander around on my break."
"I'd like that... but only if I can show you around the quieter places in the city in return."
WOMEN CAN INTERACT BUT DON'T BE CREEPY OR FETISHISTIC, THIS POST WAS NOT MADE FOR YOU BUT FOR MLM/NBLM

You had travelled with Din for a lot longer than you wanted to admit, being glued to his side constantly could be a bad thing at times, but for the most part, it was good to be with someone you got along with so well, it was good to be with someone you knew cared for you - even if he didn’t say it; he was always picking up little things here and there without you noticing, little things that he would know that you would like, such as books on local wildlife or something that you had checked out in a street stall but had shook your head and told yourself not to buy it - and in return, you offered him words of romance, words of magic and words of wondrous care that made him smile behind the helmet; Din never wanted anything, not really, his plan was always to get the job done and then move on to the next one after getting paid, but he liked you, he thought you were one of the few men left in the galaxy that was as trustworthy and as amazing as he was good looking, he liked you a lot, and he liked the sound of your voice when you threw little affirmations of love at him unexpectedly. He enjoyed having you around, if he was honest, although he would never let anyone except you know that; after all, more or less everyone that you met was strictly for business, and had no right to know either of your personal lives. They didn’t need to know that when Din called you his partner he meant it in more ways than just the one. They didn’t need to know that the reason you were so tightly knitted and the reason why you were so close to one another was because there was something a little more than professional going on, that the relationship wasn’t just out of partnership.

(Y/N) hated when Bucky was feeling like he is today. He’s not completely overwhelmed like he says he used to be, but it still gets pretty rough. Today would of been the birthday of his best friend, Steve Rogers. You never got the chance to meet him, but you know he was a big hero, and he did a lot for Buck. He passed away about 3 years ago by now, but he’s still greatly missed.
You were just finishing up in the shower, drying off and getting dressed in a pair of jeans and a shirt that you stole from Bucky ages ago. It was a bit long and baggy on you, but it brought you the most comfort. You tossed your towel into the laundry basket in the corner and padded barefoot out of the bathroom and into your guys’ bedroom, seeing Bucky out on the balcony, looking down at the city below. You sighed softly and walked out to him, gently wrapping your arms around his waist from behind and resting your forehead against the spot in between his shoulder blades. He tensed up slightly at first, most likely lost in his thoughts, but he relaxed when he realized it was you.
“Hey,” You said, your voice slightly muffled. You sighed again, happily this time, as his scent and warmth surrounded you.
“Hey, baby,” He said softly, placing his hands over yours gently. “Did you have a good shower?” You nodded slightly against his back.
“Would’ve been better if you had joined me.” You teased slightly. He chuckles a little, but you know there isn’t much amusement behind it. “My apologies, sir.”
You pull back slightly and tug on his waist, causing him to turn around and face you. You look up at him, admiring his handsome features. You frown when you finally land on his eyes. The deep blue has none of its usual sparkle. He’s trying to look happy or at least content, but his eyes are sad and tired. He sees you frown and he reaches his flesh hand up to your face, rubbing his thumb along the side of your jaw, his own frown deepening. “A boy as beautiful as you shouldn’t be looking so sad,” He whispered. You lean into his touch and shake your head, placing your hand on his forearm gently. “I should say the same to you, J.” He smiles a little at the sound of your nickname for him. You started using it one day, wanting to have a name for him that was simple and unique. J was one that kind of just stuck on, and now he makes sure it’s known that only you get to call him that.
He sighs softly and nods. “I know, and I’m sorry, (Y/N/N). I know I’ve kind of been a bit of a drag all day, I just…still really miss him…” He trails off, looking down quickly, hoping you don’t see the tears forming in his eyes that he’s trying to blink away. You grab his face in your hands and make him look at you, placing your forehead against his as you rub your thumbs over his cheeks.
“Bucky, you don’t need to be sorry for being upset or missing someone you’ve lost, ever. You haven’t done anything wrong. I’m just concerned about you. I want you to be okay. Sometimes I get really worried about what’s going on in that head of yours.” You whisper the last part and close your eyes, suddenly feeling insecure about what you just admitted. You and Bucky had talked about his mental health a few times in the past before. It’s fine, you help him get through it, but sometimes you get scared. What if one day something happens when you aren’t there to help him, and he ends up hurting himself? What if one day he-? You stop yourself before you can finish the thought, not wanting to even imagine something like that happening.
He seems to catch on to what you mean quickly as he suddenly wraps his arms around you and holds you close to him tightly, burying his face in your hair and whispering softly, his words muffled. “I’m not going anywhere, doll. я обещаю.” You nod slightly, letting him know you heard, burying your face in his chest and holding onto him tightly. The two of you stay that way for awhile, just taking comfort in each other’s company.
As you stand there in your boyfriend’s arms, an idea suddenly comes to you. The firework show was tonight. You cant believe you had forgotten. Of all the events of the year, you never forgot about the fireworks. It was your absolute favorite. You must of just been too busy worrying about Bucky that it had slipped your mind. You couldn’t help but grin. You knew exactly how you would cheer Bucky up and you weren’t taking no for an answer.

Later that evening, you told Bucky to get dressed and ready to go after returning from a quick, impromptu trip to the store. By this point, he was very confused, as you had been bustling around for the past couple of hours, rummaging around in the closets and not letting him see most of the things you gathered, at one point locking him in the bathroom while you transferred items from one hiding spot to the other. He had no idea what was going on but he did know what that little smirk you’ve had on your face the whole time means. He knew you were planning something but couldn’t quite figure out what, which is exactly what you were counting on. Mostly, you were just glad that your strange antics had provided him with a distraction from things.
You were currently packing together a picnic basket with various things. A couple of sandwiches, some cookies, some small plastic champagne glasses, a bottle of champagne, sparklers, and a blanket. You smiled softly as you closed up the basket, hearing Bucky step out of the bedroom soon after. You turned to him as he walked over to you in the small kitchenette, raising an eyebrow at you once he caught a glimpse of the picnic basket on the counter beside you. “So a picnic, huh?” He wraps his arms around you and pulls you close. “Locking me in the bathroom seems a little extreme for just a dinner date.” He teases, and you smile, enjoying the genuine amusement in his tone.
“Well you know I have to be at least a little bit dramatic about it, babe. Otherwise it’s not as fun.” You grin, and he rolls his eyes.
You lean up and peck his lips before pulling back and grabbing the picnic basket, handing it to him to carry. “You carry this, I’m driving,” You get your keys from your pocket and push past him as he shakes his head at your bossiness.
“Yes, sir,” He mumbles mockingly, following behind you as you walk to the front door of the apartment and open it up. “Do I at least get to know where we’re going?” He asks.
“Nope. You get to know nothing until we get there.” You smirk at him before walking out and starting toward the elevator. He doesn’t immediately follow behind you and you call out behind you.
“Don’t you dare take a peek into that basket, Barnes!” You laugh as you hear him groan in exasperation and the sound of the apartment door closing and locking behind you, the sound of his footsteps following not too long after.

Throughout the drive to wherever we were going, I tried to watch signs and look for familiar sights, but I hadn’t really been out in this area of New York. Not from what I could remember, anyways. (Y/N) has music blasting, singing at the top of his lungs as he drove, looking at me as often as he could, smiling as bright as the sun. I just kept shaking my head at him, chuckling softly at the strange man I called my boyfriend. I knew what he was doing. He didn’t want to leave me to my thoughts. He wanted me to be distracted and happy, and I do admit, it was working quite well. How could it not? Just seeing his sweet smile immediately brought my mind to an array of good thoughts, the happiness he brought to me was indescribable. His voice brought me out of my thoughts once more as he stopped at a red light.
I turned to him and saw his (Y/E/C) eyes already on me. He was singing along to another random country song that I’d never heard before. “Now I’m holdin’ umbrellas, and openin’ up doors. I’m takin’ out the trash and I’m sweepin’ my floors,” I reached over and took one of his hands off of the steering wheel, unable to help myself as I brought it to my lips and kissed his knuckles gently.
He smiles happily as he continues. “I’m crossin’ my fingers, and countin’ every kiss, prayin’ that it keeps goin’ on like this!” He turns back to look at the road as the light turns green, tapping his fingers on the wheel to the beat of the song as he bobs his head and keeps happily singing along.
I kept holding his hand, turning to look out the window and after a few minutes, there was a break in all the trees and buildings, suddenly opening up to show the sand and shore of the beach. I grinned, seeing the sun almost completely set, hanging low along the horizon, the deep blue waters reflecting back the light in the sky beautifully. It had been quite awhile since I’ve been to any kind of beach, and I had to admit, I would enjoy being here now.
After a few more minutes, we were parked in the lot by the docks. The drive wasn’t terribly long, a little less than an hour. The beach itself wasn’t completely empty, but not very crowded either. We step out of the car and he comes around to my side, grabbing the picnic basket from me with one hand while grabbing my metal hand with his other one, twining our fingers together. I smiled and leaned over to kiss his temple. “Lead the way, sweetheart.” I gestured in front of us as we looked toward the beach.
He smiled as well and lead me out into the sand, walking along as he tried to find an at least semi-secluded area for the two of us. We found a spot a bit away from the other families and people and he dropped my hand to set the basket down and rummage through it, pulling out a dark blue blanket and unfolding it. I backed up a bit so that he could shake it out and lay it down. I watched him curiously. He looked at me and smiled. “Take a seat, Buck, you don’t have to just stand there like a weirdo.” I chuckled a bit and took off my definitely unnecessary leather jacket. I went ahead and slipped off my boots as well. Ten months ago, I never would of even considered the thought. Sitting in the middle of a beach at sunset, barefoot on a blanket having a picnic? Absolutely not. I may seem silly, but it was a strange kind of vulnerability that I never exactly wanted to have, not in public, strangers everywhere. But a lot had changed since then, and I wasn’t exactly complaining.
I sat down cross-legged on a corner of the blanket, watching as (Y/N) started pulling things out of the basket and laying them out. A couple of sandwiches, a package of soft top cookies with white frosting and red, white, and blue sprinkles, small plastic champagne glasses, and an unopened bottle of champagne. I shook my hand, laughing suddenly. He looked at me and raised his eyebrows, giving me a half confused, half concerned look. I took a deep breath after a moment and looked at him, smiling.
“You alright there, Buckaru?” He asked as he sat down across from me. I rolled my eyes at the nickname.
“First of all, never call me that ever again. Second of all, yes, I’m fine. Sometimes I’m just still surprised by how amazing you are.” I admitted softly. It was the truth. I’ve known this man for almost a year by now and yet, I still find him just as interesting as the first moment I laid eyes on him.
His cheeks turned red as he looked down, flustered by my compliment. “I just want to make you happy, Buck.” He looks back up at me and his eyes meet mine. I reach forward and grab his hands, holding them in mine. “You do make me happy, (Y/N/N). So much.”
(Y/N) sighs softly and licks his lips, seeming nervous. “I’m really glad to hear that.” He squeezes my hands slightly, and I squeeze his back. “Do you know why I brought you here specifically?” I shake my head in response, my brows furrowed.
He smiles softly and takes a deep breath. “When I was younger, before we moved to Georgia, every year for the 4th of July, my family and I would come here, have a picnic, and then watch the firework show once it got dark. It was one of our most celebrated holidays as a family. After we moved away, the tradition changed, but it was still just as a wonderful a memory.” He blinks quickly, and I swallowed, guessing pretty easily what was coming next. “But…this is also the first time that I’ve been back here since then, and I was hesitant to come here because I knew that the happy memory of this place would be tainted by the fact that I no longer have any of them anymore.” He was chewing on his bottom lip as he scooted a little closer to me, squeezing my hands again. I knew it was because he was nervous and I nodded at him and squeezed his hands back again, letting him know that I was listening.
“But I also knew that me avoiding this place would just be hypocritical considering the whole reason I wanted to bring you our in the first place. See, I’ve gathered this…coping mechanism, I guess you could call it. It’s something that I started doing a while back, and it’s helped me a lot. I’ll have a certain place, or song, or item, etc. that I have connected to a certain event or person, and I realized after awhile that instead of avoiding those things in order to avoid the memory, I had to put a new memory in its place. Not to replace the person or event or get rid of the happiness you felt in the past relating to them, but to make it so that the next time you think of that thing or place or song or day, the memory you automatically think of is no longer that older memory tainted with pain, but instead that newer memory that has no pain connected to it.” He takes a moment to breathe. “If that makes sense?” He looked a bit sheepish, hoping all of his ramble wasn’t for nothing.
I looked down for a moment, then looked back up at him, almost in awe. Now I knew what this was all for. “(Y/N), baby, did you bring me all the way out here-”
He cut me off. “So that when this day rolls around, instead of your mind automatically seeing nothing but sadness in it because of the friend that you had lost, you’ll find happiness in it because of the night you spent out on the beach having a picnic with the best boyfriend you’ll probably ever have.” He grinned at that last bit and I snorted at his random bout of arrogance. But it was half-hearted. Because it was in this moment that I had realized something.
As I looked in front of me at this beautiful, crazy boy who I had spent so much time with in the past ten months of my life, I thought came to my mind that I didn’t think I would ever have. Love was never something that I was ever really lucky to find in the past, and I didn’t think it ever would be. Between the wars and the time spent under Hydra’s control, there wasn’t ever really a time for that kind of thing. But this man. (Y/N) (Y/L/N). Since the moment we met, I haven’t been able to get him out of my head. I have his voice, his laugh, his face all memorized. Everything about him is imprinted into my mind like I need every bit of the information in order to continue existing. Even just a few hours without being near him has me missing him so much. Though I’d never felt this way for anyone before, I knew the signs, I knew how things went, and in my heart it felt like exactly the right words to say.
“I love you.”
For a moment, it seemed like he hadn’t really processed what I had said, but once he did, his lips parted, and he looked at me in surprise. “Y-you-…” He stopped and took a deep breath, looking around and then back at me, his eyes wide on disbelief.
“You…love me?” His voice told me that it was a genuine question. Like he thought maybe he had imagined it and had to make sure it was what I had actually said. I nodded slowly, moving closer to him so that I could place my hands on the sides of his face and cup his cheeks. I caught his eyes and stared right into them, the happiness the action brought me reassuring me even more. “Yes, (Y/N), I love you. I am absolutely, with all certainty, no doubt or question about it, in love with you.” It was like now that I had actually said it for the first time, I just wanted to keep saying it over and over again.
Tears sprang to his eyes and he gave me the biggest, brightest, happiest smile I had ever seen on him, and I was mesmerized. “I am absolutely, with all certainty, no doubt or question about it, in love with you, too, James.” Once that confirmation left his lips, it was all the incentive I needed to lean forward and press my lips to his in a slow, sweet kiss, hoping that he could feel all the happiness and love that I was feeling for him in that moment within it.
Suddenly there was an explosion in the sky above us, and we pulled apart slightly to look up at the bright colors fading into the darkened sky as another one was shot up right after. Seems the fireworks had finally started. (Y/N) looked back at me again and started laughing, pulling me in for another kiss as the sky continued to light up.
For the next few hours, we ate our food and we drank the champagne and just spent time with each other as the night’s celebrations were kicked off into motion. At one point, he got out sparklers that he had packed into the basket as well and we used up every single one of them, running around like little kids late into the night, just in our own little bubble, no one there except him and I.
