“i’d like to think i’ve gotten pretty good at balancing all my worries by this point, but you’re probably right... line graphs might just push me over the edge.” she isn’t exactly qualified to be handing out advice on the matter either. as clever as she would like to think she is, being a mere doctor and being on the board that’s responsible for those doctors is very different. she can treat a wound with little issue, tends to learn new things with an ease and quickness that others may not, but she isn’t quite that good yet. “it’s one hell of a responsibility to suddenly put on someone’s shoulders, especially your own child’s… though for what it’s worth, you might have a point. i can’t speak for what the rest of your family would have done in that position, but i do know he’s doing everything he can to improve this place. maybe not everyone notices the effort, but i do — and i’m not just saying that because you’re his sister and i’m trying to ingratiate myself or anything, i promise.” there’s no doubt that riley wants to further their career, but they have no plans to do so through favouritism or special treatment of any kind. if they didn’t believe that he had the hospital’s best interests at heart and was truly trying to better the place for the sake of staff and patients alike, they wouldn’t have even thought to say as much. even if she tried, she’s a terrible liar. “ah, right.” a red tinge threatens to creep into their cheeks as they wave a hand through the air dismissively. “i’m not really that special, i’m sure anyone would’ve offered to let you rant for a little while. although i will admit, it’s nice of jenny to speak so highly of me. i do love her and if i ever need an ego boost, i know exactly who to turn to.”
"I'll be sure to let him know." Diana remark, unable to hold back the soft chuckle that bubbled out of her. "It's a long story, and one that includes a lot of numbers... and line graphs. Trust me, it's not something you want to involve yourself with. Although I appreciate the offer, but I think I'll pass. Besides, it's not like you don't have enough things to worry about, am I right? Don't worry about me. I'm sure my brother will find a way... you know, once he gets out of his surgery." She shook her head, checking the time on her wristwatch before she glanced up at the other. "You can say that again." She laughed, taking a rather generous sip of her tea as the other settled into the cushioned seat next to her. "Thank you, but I'll have you know that I've felt discouraged far more times than I can count. But Noah's got some great ideas for the hospital that he wants to see implemented. Our father knew what he was doing... putting him in-charge. It makes my job a whole lot easier." Truth be told, Diana was the only person in their family who had agreed with their father's choice when the time had come. Did she think that it was unfair to Noah? Absolutely. But she knew that there was no better person for the job. She just needed to find a way to lighten the load on his plate, which could only be possible if she could get her sisters on the board. But that seemed all the more difficult than convincing the old men who currently sat on the board. "Sorry, it's just that... you're exactly the way she described you." She admitted, a rather wide grin plastered across her lips. "I mean, she said that you were very smart... and kind, and that you're always willing to lend a listening ear if she needed one. Am I wrong about any of that, Riley?"
