The State of Democracy in the World
I will be looking at the state of democracy in 3 asian countries: The Philippines, Indonesia, and Japan. I will evaluate them accoding the 5 V-dem Indices to see where their democracy will fare in the future. These 5 Indices are: Delibarative, Egalitarian, Electoral, Liberal, And Participatory.
Summary of Graphs: Overall, Japan stands out as the most democratic nation out of the three, by a fair margin. The Philippines ranks second in all aspects until the turn of the millenium, wherein it becomes ranked third of all after Indonesia once again gained democratic rule after a period of authoritarian rule dubbed the “Reform Era”. From then on, the rankings seem to stay where they are to the near present, However while Japan keeps steady with its level of democracy, we can see a clear dip on all indices between the Philippines and Indonesia in more recent times.
Future of Democracy in Asia: I believe that Democracy is still going somewhat strong in Asia, However, with recent times, we can see that some countries have begun to Autocritize, however slightly. Though, there were similar dips along the graph as well, thus we can only hope that Democracy would still be able to prevail in the future, as socialist belligerents like China seek to erode not only the freedom of people within their borders and also the freedoms of people outside of their jurisdiction, it is ever more imperative that other countries do their best to fight back their red tide and keep Democracy in power for the sake of the people.

Significant Events
Written by MEMPIN, Cameron Joshua B.
GEWORLD YY12
-We were tasked with giving two events that shaped our lives from before our birth, events that occur in the present, and events that may occur in the future.
There are many events that shape our lives, but here are my picks:
Before Birth
World War II - The war that defined the world as it is today. World War II saw the the full extent of both human suffering and human ingenuity. The Cruelty that man is able to inflict upon its own kind, but also the Solidarity that it is capable of showing. It paved the way for the world to create the podium upon which global order and cooperation is placed upon. Many important inventions and products we use today were developed during this time.
Philippine Independence from the USA - July 4, 1946. The USA officially recognized the independence of the Philippine Republic as an independent state through the Tydings-McDuffie act, finally making the Philippines its own, autonomous country.
Present (Relatively Speaking).
Covid-19 Pandemic - Of course, the COVID 19 pandemic struck the world full force, halting almost the entire world for nearly a year today. It brought out the worst and the best from people, and showed us just how vulnerable we really are in the face of nature.
Wikipedia Launches - The Holy Grail for all students and scholars young or old. Jimmy Wales and Larry Sanger officially launched the site, and to this day, has millions of free articles available to all.
Future
Mars Colonization - Soon enough, advancements in technology and engineering will allow for humans to be able to travel to and live on the martian surface. Perhaps, methods of efficiently traveling to and from Earth and Mars will be made, making trips to the martian surface no longer a one-way endeavor, thus officially making humanity an inter-planetary species.
Cybernetic Augmentation - Along the lines of technological advancements, perhaps in the near future, prosthetics may outperform even healthy human parts, making prosthesis no longer a matter of necessity after a serious accident, but an option to improve upon yourself and break through normal human limitations. Arms, Legs, Spine, even your Brain..
