How To Get Over Writer's Block: RANT
Seriously, my best friend and I both write and we've been reading each other's stories for years. Whenever either of us gets stuck on a scene or can't figure out what comes next we send the other a ranty text about it. Sometimes it's long winded and sometimes it's as simple as "I hate writing (insert thing we're trying to write)" but 99% of the time the words start flowing before the other can even respond. I'm honestly shocked I don't see this advice everywhere.
I've put a lot of thought into it, and I think the reason this works is two-fold. First the ranting is a way to vent and get out all of the pent-up frustration and anxiety about what you're trying to write. Writing can be a very solitary activity and that can prevent us from properly venting the frustration and emotions that can go along with it, which can weigh our brains down blocking our creativity. Second, sending the rant to someone else suddenly makes you accountable. Now there is someone else rooting for you. Now there's someone else waiting to see if you overcome your block and keeping their fingers crossed for you. (It helps if they're also waiting for you to write the thing so they can read it.) That extra pressure/motivation, whatever you want to call it, is sometimes all you need to keep going.
So in conclusion, the next time your writing is giving you problems, make it your bestie's problem too.

I feel completely at ease sitting with my thoughts—exploring them, dissecting them, immersing myself in every detail as they unfold in my mind. Thinking isn’t just something I do; it’s something I participate in, like an artist lost in their craft. My mind is a place of creation, an art factory of ideas, constantly producing, refining, and reinventing—never taking a day off, working with the relentless dedication of Santa’s elves.
Of course, not everything my mind creates is profound; some of it is pure delusion, distractions that might disrupt or even hurt me. But I don’t see that as a reason to shy away from thinking. If anything, I believe that in any truly exceptional way of thinking, you have to sift through the noise, confront the unsettling thoughts, to uncover the profound ones.

So I know that it's hardly unknown advice, but I want to take a moment and appreciate just how powerful the writing tip/advice "read your work aloud" really is. Like, imho, it's kind of OP as far as writing advice goes. Struggling to see if you have spelling or grammatical errors? Read it aloud. Do you feel like your sentences are blurring together and you can't tell if they're all too similar to one another? Read it aloud. Unsure if a particular word fits the vibe? Read it aloud. Think you've perfected it and want to see how it sounds? Read it aloud. Want to develop your prose and narrative voicing so it flows off the tongue and has a pleasant ring in the ears? That's right - read it aloud. Truly one of the MVPs of Writing Tools we have at our disposal.
