Cut & Run Rambles

Goodness I miss the boys so much, my hyperfixation is this series and it kills my brain so much that the series is done and there’s very little recent content about the series. It’s been one of my hyperfixations for the last four years, I read Cut & Run for the first time almost 6 years ago.

Possible spoilers

The characters are written so well they are all complex characters with their own wants and needs. While both series are obviously romance between Ty & Zane plus Nick & Kelly in the second series. It’s so much more than a romance book which is why I enjoy it so much. It ties crime into it obviously considering two bisexual FBI agents. While sexually Ty & Zane’s relationship was quick, romantic wise it took three+ books for either one to admit they were actually in love with each other. (Ignore the first love mention from Zane strictly because it seemed like a trauma response.)

Nick & Kelly as well their romance is drawn out, considering they didn’t realize their feelings for each other for decades. But everything hinted at them being in love.

As someone who is mlm (men loving men) the fact that both relationships break away from harmful/ stereotypical gay stereotypes. Plus there isn’t just a top & a bottom which is something in most media with gay/bisexual men there’s always the hyper masc top and hyper feminine bottom. Something Abigail broke away from through out the series.

The books aren’t always written perfectly like most books, but the characters draw you in. They make you feel their pain, and understand where they come from and their past.

I relate a lot to Nick, with similar childhoods and similar fears and attitudes. He’s a character that at first I hated and realized it wasn’t because of some of his first interactions being like “I’m in love with you Ty I want to steal you from Zane.” I realized it was because how closely I related to him.

Overall, this series helped me a lot it gave me something to hold close to and care about to an extent my last two partners and my current boyfriend have/ are reading the series.

My roommate and I are currently planning on getting Cut & Run inspired tattoos.

Y’all ever remember that Percy has gone through hell and back. That he has so much trauma and prob does have ptsd and anxiety. That he is a pretty bouncy energetic KID, but he also has really bad anger issues. That he carries the guilt and blame from anyone he couldn’t save. That he prob has a really bad memory bc of the trauma and he repressed memories . That he’s afraid he is missing big chunks of his life ... also Percy may be a himbo but he’s not as stupid as everyone likes to portray him as ! Besides Annabeth Leo and Percy May be the smartest mains.

This has turned into me ranting over Pjo. The fandom likes to focus on only a small part of his character instead of it all. This is for most characters in Percy Jackson. Y’all don’t take into count everything they’ve gone through, and just focus on the parts of the characters y’all like the most.

Nico isn’t just a soft little emo gay boy, he is so much more than his sexuality and y’all are guilty of ignoring his trauma. He went through Tartus alone when he was 14 I believe. Annabeth isn’t just a love interest she is so much more than that, she’s so much more that the smart kid. She’s gone through just as much as Percy and has diffrent types of trauma she was 7 years old on the run. Grover is not just the token best friend, if anyone carries guilt and anxiety it is him. Leo isn’t just the funny “funky looking kid.” Piper isn’t the “I’m not like other girls character.” She’s strong. Hazel is 14 and is so powerful. And there’s so many more characters that r so much more than how the fandom portrays them.

Considering I have been balling my eyes out for at least an hour strictly bc of how much love I have for the Cut & Run boys. I’ve gotten mh last two partners into the book series. I hope so so much for an actual show to happen. I love the series so much. I’ve re read the books at least four times over besides the last book in the side series... and I’m bout to start on my 5th re reading.

Edit I literally named my fish Lonestar, and wen I get rats they will be Doc, Lucky and my next fish will be Meow Mix.
