Crossposting another monthly update, but also announcing that I’m gonna be closing this down as it feels... redundant, I guess? February End-of-the-Month Update
Copying this over from my Patreon (you can also read it here - https://www.patreon.com/posts/25041553):
Hey everyone, just taking this moment to talk about what got done this month and what's coming:
Done in February:
1. MLD Ruins Pack - The crowning achievement of the month, the Ruins Enemy Pack has been released and undergone 2 major updates so far, with more pending.
2. The Banshee Miniboss - The other major achievement this month, Marvin and I released a miniboss and won the Red Hook Boss Contest!
3. The Silent - Silent has moved from concept stage to late alpha and is quickly moving along, having already gone through 4 major updates.
4. Clair's Collection of Curiosities Redone - A bunch of new trinkets have been designed and several theoretical fixes have been tested and confirmed to work.
5. The Librarian Patch - The Librarian Optional Patch I made has been updated with a ton of new lore and quality-of-life fixes and is now final (aside from waiting on translations). Currently localized for English and Spanish (other languages pending).
6. The Fool Update 1.6 (Final Update) - The update is coded and tested but I'm waiting on translations as, unlike with Librarian, not being able to understand the text makes her 100x harder to play. Rest assured, this is finished, but I'm unable to deploy it just yet.
7. MLD Enemy Concept Art - All of the concept art has now been posted to Patreon for all finished enemies, as well as some teasers of upcoming stuff - progress slowed a bit as everyone reacted to DD2 and the optimization patch, but things are still in the pipeline.
8. Machine Herald - A class I'm working on with Solar, this is now also in alpha and moving along. Art should actually be done shortly and most of the code is finished, as this is much smaller than Silent.
9. Optimization Patch - I saved perhaps the crowning achievement of my modding career for last; we got the optimization patch. Modding lives on, unobstructed by a mod limit - large mods like MLD will now function just fine and I no longer have to cut features. Check the beta branch of DD if you want to play it early, but it should go live soon, long before MLD is playable.

Plans for March:
1. The Silent - I intend to finish the Silent entirely (art notwithstanding) and put her into beta. Once art and animations are done, she'll go live.
2. CCCR - My other primary focus for March, I'll be entirely revamping my trinket mod and finally giving it the attention it deserves. Expect updates to the old parts, one new one, and possibly more depending on artist availability.
3. Other Area Enemy Packs - I'll plan to have all the art and animations commissioned out by end of March and post teasers here as they're developed. Right now, 3/6 concepts are relatively far along, one commission was dropped and will be re-commissioned out, and 2 more were waiting on artist availability; I should have all 6 in-progress or done by the end of March. My expectation is 2-3 will be fully done and the other 3 will be relatively far along.
I'm sticking to 3 main goals because I've realized adding more just makes me spread myself too thin, as well as because CCCR itself is already the size of a small overhaul.
Other Stuff:
So as you may have heard... We're getting another DD game. Rest assured, I'm gonna mod that one too, and no, that doesn't mean any of my DD1 stuff is cancelled. I likely won't start any new DD1 projects, but anything in the pipeline now is getting done. After that I'll mod DD2 and Slay the Spire as well as maintain all my DD1 mods and add translations as they get done.
Second, as mentioned above, we did it. We got an optimization patch. DD modding is safe, and frankly, that means more than anything I've done in the past. A lot of mods were pushing the boundaries too far, and now they're all playable. MLD will now be playable with class mod patches and such, rather than forcing you to disable all other mods due to sheer size, and I no longer have to cut the flashbacks from it for being too big. So with that, the last major concern is handled.
Finally, I got into my doctoral program. That means that I have a plan and eventual financial security in the future, but also means in 5 months I'm going to have to slow down again to juggle school with modding. I hope by then I'll have enough done to not feel bad about it, but we'll reevaluate when we get there.

Meet the final MLD Ruins enemy, the Bone Bishop. The Bishop reacts to what heroes you bring and what enemies it's paired with, shifting its moveset accordingly! He has a number of buffs and debuffs designed to make your life hell, as well as a couple fun attacks of his own... The goal with the Bishop was to make it a somewhat different fight every time you run into him as well as to use some debuffs that went unused in the base game to increase the diversity of useful strategies and amount of thinking you need to do to win these fights.

Meet something that’s sort of the antithesis of the Golem - the Animated Armor is a much more aggressive automaton that gains damage each time it attacks, ramping up over the course of a fight.

Meet the first new Size 2 - the Golem. This big guy shifts modes to adapt to your team and to minimize incoming damage against him, covering all ranks with his moveset.

Hey Clair! I started playing Darkest Dungeon a couple of months back and I fell in love with it (even if it makes me want to cry some times) I’m so excited to see the future of Moonlite Dungeon! It look like it’s gonna be freakin EPIC!!! Keep up the great work!! 😁

I just wanna say, this mod looks so cool! Love it when a mod adds new monsters, it must be pretty hard to draw and animate them so they fit into DD, and of course the coding must be hell! Kudos! But how exactly does the seraph work? When you attack it, you take one turn from it away? How many turns can it have? And how exactly does it stack turns? :O
So the way she works is each Seraph is actually made up of 3 Seraph “types” - one has 1 action per turn, one has 2, one has 3. At the start of the turn, she randomly chooses to either stay in her current form or change to one of the others. In this way she ends up with a random number of actions from 1 to 3. When hit, she loses one of her actions - it doesn’t matter if the attack even does damage, even a mark skill will remove an action (it’s just about paying attention to her).

TLDR: DD is suffering severe optimization issues. Big mods like Moonlit Dungeon and Sunken City are just going to fail to load entirely if optimization isn’t prioritized. Even unmodded games are suffering white boxes in some cases. Please spread this as far as you can - these mods are the future of the game and it can’t just die to something this stupid and fixable.

First bit of Patreon content is live!
The Bone Banshee’s full art, animations, skillset, and stats are now live on Patreon and will be live a week from now for everyone else :) I’m finally starting this up and I’m so excited to have a way to create more content and reward those who have been dedicated to helping me see this through.
The Ruins Enemy Pack is roughly a month out, but things are coming along nicely and I’ll have quite a few teasers ready between now and then, along with some content for my other mods.

Getting back to work.
Today I sent in half my grad school applications. Guess what that means? Not quite “hiatus is over and Clair is working nonstop,” but I can finally afford to take time to work on modding again. I still have a couple applications to do over the next month, so I won’t be working at full speed, but there’ll be stuff coming in a bit. I’ll be teasing stuff on my Patreon over the next few weeks (and officially launching it, finally) before showing them off publicly, and I expect to have a few new mods and updates out soon :)
In about a month, by the way, I’ll be back to working like I used to. Almost there. And I have so much to show off when we get there. I’d also like to thank the 14 patrons I now have, because that money is going to make the art so, SO much more attainable than it was before. Every little bit goes a long way.
