Pretty much all of Day 15 has been inflicted on Claire Inez.

Makeshift bandages. Suppressed suffering. "I'm fine." "No, you're not. Get back here." "I don't need you to help me. I can handle things myself."

Uh, Inez, I don't think you're fine. Whatever was going on in Whumptober Day 10, it's a lot worse now. (At least she can still see out of her left eye. Elsie doesn't have a left eye.)

Speaking of 20 years later, how is she doing? The last we saw of her, she was in pretty bad shape.

Piano Freak: Claire Inez

There are a bunch of piano freaks going around. Poke around my blog for Paris Forte, Celesta Ciel, Clé Chroma, and Kaede Shoji.

But there's another who has made pianos her whole personality. My darling Claire Inez. It's just that she was designed as a clarinet before a piano (or English horn for that matter)

I tried to go for "minimalist" but with a bit of flair. The diamonds were an idea that just popped up. I didn't have any sharpies that were close enough to Claire's skintone, so I used one of my fineliners and coated it very carefully. (It would dissolve in the water-based Mod Podge, but at least I could use that to spread the color around.)

Water inhalation

In which Claire Inez falls into a raging canal. Google didn't help me with "trying to swim in a raging river", so I apologize for physical inaccuracies.

I composed a piece for this scene back in March. I wonder if I should post it, but I have a ton of SWAP Ensemble tracks that are forever unlisted.

I've had this pervasive thought of my OCs in Milgram, so...

Sure, let's put them in Milgram!

Milgram isn't canon here, but their sins are.

Claire Inez: Year 127 Born 112 Age 14 Height 5'3"

Jessica O'Flannigan: Year 143 Born 131 Age 12 Height 4'9"

Both of them have some combination of Muu and Mahiru's sins. I don't know how much I'll explore this, but I plan to be deliberately vague. Especially in Jessica's case because that's spoilers for my unwritten story "Behind Closed Doors".

I wasn't sure what to do about the straps, but I gave Claire the X because she's not one for boxy patterns (and because Yuno had one in the split-second frame in one trailer). Jessica's is based on Amane's, but the extra vertical strap mimics her usual outfit.

If they were in this theoretical Milgram, they would not be in the same one because Jessica wasn't even born when Claire was that age.

Thinking about how even though my OCgram isn't canon, the characters' sins still are. What this means for Claire.

SWAP Ensemble takes place in year 128. So it would've been no more than a year since whatever Claire did. (Also, what she did has long been established.)

So what is she like a year later?

She gets prickly. She's very enthusiastic about music. She gets along with close friends and family. (Except her cousin Paris, but they form a truce.) She hates jokes. She likes guys. She hates being coddled. She wants to be called "Inez" rather than "Claire". She talks up a storm of arguments at times. She's jaded about peers who aren't her close friends. She has guilty pleasure books and games that she pretends to dislike. Reminders of unpleasant times past can be triggering for her. Sometimes, she just plain doesn't want to think of them.

(As usual for a long-running character, I have old hints about her on my deviantArt, but I won't put them here.)

I was going through my comic to collect screencaps of Claire for a post, and I remembered this page from Day 15. (drawn in 2020)

The sheet music is actually from a piece I composed. A snippet of that composition is available somewhere in Day 14.
