in order to unlearn racism u have to be willing to accept that u are racist. it’s not a bad thing to want to change for the better. it’s not a bad thing to say hey, the way i’ve been acting is racist and i don’t want to be racist anymore. when people of color are telling u ways in which u have been racist, it’s actually not cool to brush it off and say, well i didn’t mean it that way.. u actually have to make an effort to stop doing those things if u want to be able to actually say ur anti-racist. u can’t just say ur not racist because u don’t wanna be seen as racist. that’s not how unlearning racism works.

saw Hozier at Reading festival yesterday and he did about a five min speech focused mostly on Palestine, called out the fact that the UK government’s legislation on Palestine Action is insane….. and I just looked at BBC iPlayer and they broadcast every major set except his. which was literally the one that closed the night. like idk the censorship of pro Palestine sentiments in this country is insane

So, this is how it has played out in reality now:

Trans woman & cis man, both 21, both straight so far as the story suggests, hook up over snapchat and then in person. All involved are happy so far.

She was apparently clocky and/but lied about being on her period to avoid being touched genitally; he didn't challenge this explanation because he wanted his dick sucked. All involved are still happy so far.

He invited her over again; introduced her to his mother. Still all happy so far.

Some time later she mentioned being trans, and he filed a complaint with the police, misgendering her and saying that he "doesn't swing that way" (in context: men).

She is arrested for sexual assault, on the grounds that he could not consent. She admits lying (she was not, in fact, on her period) and says she did so because she feared rejection.

As an aside: lying about being on one's period, in order to avoid being touched genitally? This is surely a thing unheard of, that no cis woman has ever done in the history of sex, and if she did, it would mean that she is committing sexual assault.

Her defence lawyer: look, my client is obviously male and the plaintiff could clearly tell because it's very obvious by appearance and voice; the only reason my client admitted deception was due to self-deludedly wanting to believe in the obvious impossibility of passing for female. Therefore no deception could have occurred, even though there was an attempt, therefore the plaintiff could and did consent.

The judge: guilty, so jail I guess, but let's get a psychiatric report before sentencing

yknow one of the reasons i am so adamant about the genai stuff is that, yknow, to me, if someone goes all-in on the moral panic--not, like, makes legitimate and honest criticisms of how evil all the companies involved are, or how they mistreat the workers in the global south necessary to make their product, or their deceptive and outright malicious marketing, but, like, starting twitter pile-ons against random indie devs for using it for background assets and calling it the death of art and the herald of cognitive degeneration--it indicates to me that they've only opposed other moral panics not because of any set of consistent political or analytical principles, but by sheer brute chance of being on the nasty end of them

imo the nature of tumblr is that everyone is constantly thinking to themselves "yeah maybe what i post is a little cringey but at least i'm not posting [blank]" and everyone is thinking this in a big web of "at least i'm not THAT guy" like that xkcd gag of everyone on the train thinking everyone else is a sheep or the "their barbaric invaders vs our righteous whatever" cartoon and there's no endpoint of who's truly uncringe. i can't even be like "stop putting the anime horse betting on my dash" bc someone would inevitably say "ok marvel fujoshi" and kill me instantly
