Binalbagan Catholic College, also known as BCC, is a Catholic institution and one of the leading private schools in the municipality of Binalbagan and in the Philippines. It was founded and led by the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary (PBVM) Congregation. Its foundation is based on the Christian faith and the good deeds and words of Venerable Nano Nagle, known as “Lady of the Lantern.” Similar to a lantern, the BCC community have given light to the path of its humble and well-rounded graduates with a tag-line:
“BCCnian, truly I am”
- imbued with teachings and discipleship of Christ, and until today extends its light not just to students but to the society as a whole. July 1,1950, the day the Columban Fathers first set foot on the island of Negros. Father Thomas Cronin founded the school in June 1957. It was built on the compound of St. Isidore Parish Church and has six classrooms mostly made up of wood. In 1961, the Locsin Family donated a part of their property for the college department and sometime later, Bienvenido Yulo also donated a parcel of land where the new school building now stands.
Nano Nagle and the Columban Fathers are two significant figures in the history of Binalbagan Catholic College. Both of them have played a major role in the establishment and development of this school. Nano Nagle was an Irish nun who founded the Presentation Sisters in Ireland. She then sent her sisters to Binalbagan, Philippines to help spread Christianity among the locals. The Columban Fathers were a group of priests from Ireland who came to Binalbagan to help with missionary work. They helped build churches, schools, and other social projects that benefited the local community. Their presence has had a lasting impact on the school, which is why they are remembered fondly by students and faculty.
Binalbagan Catholic College offers quality education for daycare, elementary, junior highschool, and college.
