“You and me both.” He sighed softly, following her gaze out to the buildings below them. Oliver knew it was hard for everyone else, but it was even harder for him. He’d lost everything, that day. Nearly everything. Enough that he was only just now feeling like himself again. He reached out, putting a hand on her shoulder and giving her a reassuring squeeze. “I won’t get hurt. The bludgers don’t go after the referees, and it’s basically my job to stay out of the way.”
Clary looked at him. “You’re my best friend, you know that right?” Clary replied. “If we could go back to the day where everything happened,” she let out a breath through her nose, “I’d never hit that bludger, or if I could flip it to be me.” That was a lot coming from her, quidditch was all Clary had. “If I could, I’d switch places, just so you could have it back, the way it was supposed to be.”

“So I met Grayson Parke this morning.” He started, inspecting one of his fries before popping it into his mouth, still excited about the whole thing. “He even offered to let me fly with the team sometime.”

Clary gasped, putting a hand to her heart. “You would betray mine and Blaise’s team just like that?” she questioned with a smirk across her face. “I cannot believe my best friend would do such a thing.”

“Clary, alto!” Micah caught hold of his sister’s arm. “Déjalo caer. Por favor!”
Clary stopped when he grabbed her arm. She puled it from his grip and let out an angry breath through her nose. “Tenlo a tu manera.”

“Are you?” He whispered, not entirely sure he believed her. He knew that even when she tried to hide it, she worried about her friends, her family. And Oliver didn’t want to cause her more stress, but he had to share this with her - he’d always shared Quidditch with her. “It’s okay if you’re not, I want to know what you think.”
Clary shrugged. “Yeah, I guess I am,” she told him. “I mean, do I wish it were all different? Fuck yeah. I don’t really do well with change and since last year, that’s all it’s been. It’s still hard to get used to.” Clary looked from looking out at the town, back to looking at her best friend. “I guess maybe I’m scared?” She shrugged again. “However the fuck that feels. I just, I know you have to do something, and I know you can’t give up flying, that’s all you are. It’s just, when I saw you fall, everything inside me felt like,” she paused, not sure how to explain her emotions. “I just, I don’t want to see you get hurt again.”

Micah sighed. “Don’t do that. Please.”
Clarissa started walking aimlessly, looking for the brunette. She muttered angrily in Spanish. “No hagas eso? No hagas eso? Siento disentir.”

Micah sighed. “I guess mine is trying to hold on tighter to those I care about and until they can’t breathe.” He hesitated a moment before saying quietly, “Lo broke up with me.”
Clary’s eyes widened, and she put down whatever she was going to buy. She looked around. “Where is she? I’m going to smack that bitch for breaking your heart.”

Micah just nodded. “I understand why…just please,” he begged her, “don’t do it again. I think the only way I’m going to get through this whole thing is with you.”
“I just, I guess my defense mechanism is being a bitch and pushing those I love far from me. I just, I don’t know how to deal with everything. There is so much inside me that I still don’t know.”

“Even so. I’m your roommate. It would just feel wrong for me not to get you something.”
“Well then I’ll trust your judgement on this one,” Clary replied.

Now that he was face to face with her, Micah was just so happy to see her that words deserted him. So instead of speaking, he pulled her in for brief hug before letting her go.
Clary let her brother hug her, and after a moment, she slowly hugged him back. “I’m sorry,” she whispered. It was very rare for Clary to apologize for anything.

“And I wish I could give that to you. I really do. But since I can’t, let’s settle for something that I can give you.”
Clary shrugged. “I don’t care. I don’t really need anything.”

“Not as fast as you’d think.” He countered, knowing she wasn’t entirely pleased with his news. His stomach clenched at the thought, although he couldn’t blame her. It was different for him - just as horrible a memory, but he hadn’t watched it happen. He could only imagine what that had been like. Oliver had just woken up a few days later and been told. But for her - she might never be able to unsee it. He knew that. But he needed her to be on board for this. “Yeah, I am, Clar. I know it’s dangerous, but I can’t - I can’t not fly. And I wouldn’t risk it if I wasn’t ready. It’s not worth losing entirely.” He glanced over at her, pursing his lips. “This is a good thing.”

Clary clenched her jaw tightly, trying to get rid of all the worry that she was feeling. She didn’t look at him for a second. “I...” she tried to say something that would put all her feelings into words, but she couldn’t think of anything. She let out a breath through her nose. “I’m happy for you,” she said hesitantly.
