So fascinating
Something I’ve been looking at recently is the mechanism behind old clocks.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I found it interesting that these old clocks would rely on a weight to be wound up and then dropped to continue working. These old clocks therefore include two notable mechanisms
- a heavy weight is moved up and then dropped down
- a mechanism is used to pull the weight, by spinning rope around a mechanical part.
If you compare this to Arei murder, I think you get an interesting parallel.
In Terukos own words, a “spinny thing” was used to hoist Arei up, and then suddenly stopped to cause her to drop. So to say, Arei is hoisted up, and dropped down, just like in a grandfather clock.
Maybe it isn’t so far fetched that Eden could discern Nico murder method, if it’s something she’s already worked with before?

The fact people haven't pointed how weird Hu's entire behavior is in the latest episode is wild to me, like genuinely.
As soon as her weapon is mentioned, she goes completely silent and looks terrified.
Then Teruko asks her "what lie did Nico tell you to get a hold of that" and she doesn't respond. In fact she sounds confused and let's out a
"...What" As though she's confused that was the conclusion Teruko had made
In fact she doesn't even says a singular full sentence about it. No questioning Nico, no giving us context as to how Nico would've even gotten the weapon in the first place, no reaction from Hu to the idea that Nico would've tried to frame her and the fact they admit to it right in front of her.
This is the women who acted shocked and entered a blind rage when she learned that David betrayed her, blaming him for "toying with her heart".
Even if she would treat Nico different from David, I don't fucking buy the idea that she'd have 0 reaction to that. No tearful reaction of betrayal ? No breakdown.
Somehow here she says nothing, acting confused and then just sheepishly adding a "That's..." when the conversation moves further.
That moment is still stuck in my mind because it is such a strange moment especially with how we've established Hu's behavior during the entire trial.
We literally see how she reacts to being betrayed, we've seen it in this class trial, and yet someone even closer to her admits to framing her and it's just...crickets.

Guys, I think I solved the scuffs on the ground of the playground
I REALLY mean it. Just bear with me for a second. So, let's gather all of the information we know about the turf in the playground as that is important.
Tumblr media
The turf of the playground is the same turf as the turf in the relaxation room. And what do we know about that turf?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When the turf is wet, it gets very sticky to the point where it would cause a big mess if anyone stepped on it when it was wet. Annnd, what do we know happened in this case?
Tumblr media
The ground got wet. Remember that the turf in the playground is the same as the one in the relaxation room, and we know what happens when that turf gets wet.
So, now let me ask you a question. When you step on something sticky and it gets stuck to your shoes or feet, your first instinct is to rub your feet on the ground until it gets out, correct? NOW TAKE A LOOK AT THIS
Tumblr media
Doesn't that look exactly like someone rubbed their feet on the floor and it made these shapes? So, my theory is:
The killer accidently spilled the water in the jugs cuz they broke due to the force of breaking Arei's neck, and the killer, probably because they did not know of the turf's characteristics, stepped on the side of the turf that got wet, and it got stuck to their shoes. So, because they were on a rush for the motive announcement meeting or some other reason, they rubbed their feet on the floor in order to get the turf out, causing these scuffs on the ground.
And... What role will this evidence play in the trial? Well, I think that this is going to be Teruko's last strike in the argument armament. The killer probably didn't get all of the turf off their shoes, but they got enough to not make a complete mess across the building. And Teruko is going to pick up on that, and she's going to order the killer to take off their shoes and show it to everyone. And their shoes are going to have part of the turf in it, resulting in proving that they're guilty without a doubt. Well, that's just a theory, A DRDT THEORY! Thanks for reading ^^

Current Killer Predictions?
I'm still saying Eden because most of the evidence stacks up against her. But Hu has been really suspicious since last episode.

Let's not forget when teruko punched the elevator button
DRDT Rulebreakers!
It has come to my attention that MonoTV seems to be lacking in its responsibilities as a killing game host, in particular regarding the punishment of vile, despicable rulebreakers. Apparently, it’s willing to let breaches of rules go if they’re, quote, “funny.” This is unacceptable.
So, since I was rewatching DRDT for other purposes anyways, I decided to make a list of every participant who’s broken a rule so far. You’d be surprised at how many there are, given there are only three rules they can break. “No violence against MonoTV”, “no sleeping outside the dorms during nighttime,” and “no significant property damage outside of murder.” And yet, all of them have been broken at least once. Here are all the instances of this happening.
Tumblr media
Rule Number 5: “Nighttime” is from 10 pm to 8 am. During nighttime, sleeping outside of the dorms is prohibited.
Rulebreaker: Rose
Tumblr media
To the surprise of no one, I imagine. If I’d given you three guesses as to who broke this one, your guesses should have been “Rose, Rose and Rose a third time.” Indeed, Ms Lacroix takes the dubious honor of being the first person to break a rule after the students were given their monopads. As in, she literally breaks the rule in the scene the rules are handed out, in CH1 EP2. Right after the nighttime announcement, she falls asleep while standing. For shame.
Thin Ice: Ace
Tumblr media
(Ignore the numbers)
I mean. Top right does say nighttime, and he is in fact sleeping. I feel like we could forgive him for this one given the situation, but I suppose it’s up to the jury.
Rule Number 6: Violence towards MonoTV is prohibited.
Rulebreakers: Levi, Arei
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Levi is the only person who actually got punished for breaking a rule, and that’s especially funny considering he is the only one who did it before the rules were actually presented to the students lol.
Arei, meanwhile, has no excuse. While strangling a robot that doesn’t require air to breathe is a generally unadvisable as a genuine method of inflicting harm, it’s still very much violence against MonoTV. I actually can see no reason why she wouldn’t be punished for this. I guess she must be the mastermind! /j
Thin Ice: Nico, Charles, J
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nico holding MonoTV by the tail wasn’t an inherently violent act, but it still could cause harm.
Charles, in a twist of fate, got jumped by MonoTV, which isn’t a violation in itself. However, if he fought back at all… it’s curtains. Unconfirmed, but possible violation, hence he’s on thin ice.
Finally, J didn’t actually attack MonoTV in a way that matters, but she basically attempted to murder it with her remote. Watch it, young lady.
Rule Number 7: Significant property damage is prohibited. This rule may be waived in the case of committing a murder.
Rulebreakers: Teruko, Xander, Whit
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Teruko: Could anyone use this to commit a murder? The materials these things are made out of are really cheap. This hammer is plastic. Oops. I already broke it...
Whit: Jeez, you trip and faceplant into the wall once and [Charles] will never let you forget it.
Whit is the latest student to be confirmed a vile rulebreaker, and as you might expect, the reason this post exists. He admitted to face-planting on the computer lab wall, and MonoTV admitted it only let it slide because it was funny. This implies the rule was broken, meaning even small things like that count as “significant” property damage.
And with that, we can confirm Xander as a rulebreaker too. No surprise, he’s the Ultimate Rebel for a reason. He actually has multiple counts of breaking this rule, with the elevator doors, but the most straightforward case is the table he broke while arm-wrestling Ace.
Finally, we have Teruko, who has broken this rule in more situations than just one. I chose her breaking the plastic hammer provided to everyone (CH1 EP1) because it’s the most straightforward, but there’s also the icing gun which breaks in her hands when baking cake in CH1, possibly a plate later in the same scene, and probably more. See, this is why Xander was in the righ-
Thin Ice: Ace's Attacker/Nico
(Aka whoever actually broke the fan)
Tumblr media
(I could get images without numbers. I'm not going to)
This one's an interesting grey area. The property damage rule can be waived "in the case of committing a murder," but what about attempted murder? Since the murder wasn't successful, should the person who broke the fan be punished for it? Up to interpretation.
———
And that’s as far as it goes (unless I missed something which I most likely did). So, while Ace, J, Charles, Nico, and maybe the Ace attacker (if they’re not just Nico) are all on thin ice, Rose, Levi, Arei, Teruko, Xander, and Whit, are all rulebreakers! And are hereby BANNED from the DAYCA-
Wrong fandom sorry.
These six are all rulebreakers, and are thus liable for execution and/or mastermind allegations. Do with this information what you will.

This was so nicely worded
“The Choice To Be Kind” - A Thematic Analysis
(ft. Eden, David, Teruko, & Arei)
For me, Eden is the heart of this chapter that the cast is revolving around, all serving to contrast her uniquely genuine sentiment.
Tumblr media
“I chose to be this way.”
“I’ll still make the choice to be kind.”
Her intentions are very blatantly stated. This is a decision she actively makes everyday. It’s not a naïve default, it’s a continuous effort.
This is a very important distinction to establish going forward in examining other characters’ perspectives of kindness. Kindness was not something she was born with; it doesn’t run in her blood or her genes. It is not intrinsic to her existence.
Kindness is autonomous.
This alone is in conflict with how Arei, David, and Teruko, all address “goodness” as a trait instead of an acquired skill.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So there’s this constant reiteration of “you are good or you are bad”
This is countered by Eden saying “you can be good or you can be bad”
But then, most poignantly, it is Arei who concludes with the most self-realized perspective of “you are not good, nor are you capable of becoming good, just as you are not bad, nor capable of becoming bad, because there is no Good or Bad to become”
Tumblr media
And this is by far the healthiest way to conceptualize self-improvement.
All we can do is hold ourselves accountable for bad actions and acknowledge that they will never render future acts of kindness futile.
None of this is to disparage the idea of change itself — it is to say that David, Teruko, and Eden have a much different understanding of what “change” implies here. For them, change is a means to be made from Bad to Good. We see this sentiment reflected in Teruko’s exchange with Whit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And there in lies the issue: these concepts of concrete morality are unattainable! They’re not real.
But what can be changed is your behavior.
Just as Eden established, kindness is an effort, and you can make it continuously. But unlike Eden’s implied sentiment, Arei has realized that there’s no threshold of Good to be met through these efforts. The effort to be kind is simply that: an effort. No one is barred from making it, nor is anyone required to. The effort means something, just as a lack of it does, but there’s no permanence to it all. It’s simply a consistency of effort that credits you reliable or kind in the eyes of others.
But everyone wakes up a blank slate, capable of starting or losing that consistency just as easily as the next person. And because of that-
Tumblr media
-no one is too far gone.
No one is too far behind, because there’s no finish line to be reached.
Tumblr media
Everyone can wake up and try to be a little less shitty.
