CAL #4 - Back to our regularly scheduled program... starting next week
08/21/2018
Okay I’m gonna start updating regularly next week, I swear.
What’s your excuse this time Classy?
So, like, I haven’t had any time for programming in the past two weeks due to school starting in a week and I still having yet to start the three summer assignments I have, having to fix my broken school schedule, starting work, along with attempting to start a YouTube channel.
I’m not procrastinating, I just haven’t been able to figure out how to manage my time properly yet, please bear with me. Until next week, heh.

CAL #3 - I give up coding... kinda... ok not really
08/08/2018
Yeah uh, welcome back to my WEEKLY BLOG
Where’ve you been Classy?
Good question follower who statistically probably is just a porn bot! Well, to put it really bluntly… I just got really lazy and discouraged from learning to code, so I took a break!
An extended
month long
break.
In all seriousness, I was feeling extremely discouraged as I just wasn’t getting anywhere. I felt allover the place and like nothing was helping me actually learn.
So what are you doing back?
Well porn bot, to put it bluntly once again, I forced my dad to invest like $12 into me. That’s the TLDR version, but to play it out for you, last week I saw on Udemy that there was a “best seller” Java course on sale for $12. This was last week.
A week later and I’m back on track. I actually feel like I’m learning and I’m happy. It’s only been a week and I’m learning about data types so I’m back at square 1, but better that than square 0.
P.S. Special thanks to @dargacode for the inspiring words and tips, appreciate it.

CAL#2 - Learning to Dance is More Fun...
07/04/18
I’ve been alive for a little more than 15 whole entire years and I just realized my birthday is an exact week before the 4th of July. Another thing I’ve realized is learning something new is pure hell LMAO
Okay yeah so this “adventure” is the hardest one I’ve been on yet. I’ve used every day so far to learn a little bit of Java, but in all honesty, I’ve been learning from all over the place. Bucky from the tutorial series I mentioned in my last post is great, don’t get me wrong, but he doesn’t go over everything. No one does.
As a result, I’ve had to download an app, SoloLearn, follow another tutorial on You-tube, and religiously read through StackOverflow. Honestly wasn’t as bad after realizing I needed more help.
Currently I’m trying to understand the concept of Classes, Methods, and Arrays. I can’t wait to fully understand these concepts because apparently, things get really fun after that...
That’s all for this week. Hopefully next week I can talk about my actual first independently made program.

CAL#1 - The Beginning of a Coding Adventure
06/27/18
Background
Learning anything, meaning absolutely anything, can easily be described as an adventure. From learning to speak Japanese or learning choreography to a new dance, one is going on such adventure. Some of these adventures are quick, while others may take months or even years. Regardless, one common thing between adventures is that they should be fun and compelling.
I’ve decided to go on the adventure of learning how to code, and the purpose of keeping this blog is not only to log the progress I’ll be making come the next year, but to encourage myself to push through this adventure and to make it interesting, so if you’re reading this a year from now future Gospel, I hope I helped!
Where to begin
I’ve been told that the hardest part to any adventure is the start, and honestly at the current moment, I don’t think I could agree more. First of all, I needed to know what program language I had wanted to start learning. Now I’ve watched countless YouTube videos and read blogs all saying and suggesting different things, and after almost calling it a day, I came across this gem:
After following this flowchart, it had magically made the decision for me: Java. After considering many other languages for a while longer, I decided that Java would be the way to go for me.
I didn’t exactly think so far ahead, so I then had to figure out how I would start learning. As I usually do when I’m in a bind, I headed over to YouTube. Fortunately I ended up finding a channel, thenewboston, which had a beginners Java series. The playlist consists of 87 videos. I plan on doing 2 videos a day so we’ll see how things go after a week.
