Print Out Trials
I did a test run with the paper stock I intended to use for the final execution, although the paper doesn’t match to the document, it was good to test out what it looked like and felt like when printed on. Trials are always important when using specific paper stock to see if ink works how, you want it to and sit right, the paper I had chosen worked very well.

Insert Print Out Trials
After printing out the inserts, even though they weren’t on the right paper, the changes I needed to make were clear, I didn’t like the typeface at all once printed out and it did not go with the rest of the project. I also wanted to change some images round for my own postcard. At this point I also decided to change the title to ‘Postcards to Colin’, instead of ‘Postcards to Popa’. This fit the Narrative better.

Insert Trials

I used some of the imagery I had found on the internet of Popa as well as images I had taken for the inserts, I intended for these images to be on the transclear paper, to add texture to the project. I used a typewriter typeface for the memories, I kept to the black and white theme for these extra inserts.

test prints
After my second test prints, I made some more amendments, some of the typefaces were too small, and legibility was one of the main factors of this project, enlarging the photos and turning them black and white worked very effectively. I had presented my postcard with my own handwriting, I didn’t think this worked very well and so I intended to change that too.

Test prints
Test printing became an essential part of this project, files on a computer screen are completely different to files printed, holding the physical document made it so much easier to make amendments and to see what needed to change. After my first test print, it was obvious that the actual message on the postcard was not very legible, and the font size was far too small. This meant that moving forward I altered the hierarchy of address to message, making it easier to read. It was also helpful to see how well the postcards fit in the box, luckily, they fit perfectly but if necessary, I could have amended the size of the document too
