London in 2 days
What to see in London in 2 days - Saturday morning. From our hotel we had the stop only 4 minutes walking. We start by crossing the blue line of the company that runs along a stretch of hotel line until it reaches Marble Arch and makes a stop at the Madame Tussands, the famous London wax museum. If you plan to see the museum book your ticket online to avoid the queue to buy. From the bus we saw 2 very long queues. From there we toured the famous Oxford Street, the shopping street. We followed the bus tour while we saw Picadilly Circus (you have to see it day and night, it's like Times Square in New York), the Trafalgar Square until we get to Big Ben. From here we took a walk to see more closely the Big Ben, the Westminster Abbey and the London Eye (the ferris wheel). The views from the London Eye are impressive, we already got on our previous trip to London. If you are going to visit the London Eye and go in high season, consider buying the ticket without queues.
From there we took the cruise that included us with the bus entrance. If you do not have the bus ticket, the cruise with the company we went was 12 or 14 pounds. The cruise is a very interesting visit, you see London from another perspective and there are very interesting monuments that can only be seen from the river. Our cruise was totally covered with large transparent windows, ideal to have a practically panoramic view and not to get wet if it is raining. We reached the end point of the cruise and stopped at the Tower of London. Behind the Tower of London there are a few canals with several restaurants to eat. We opted to eat at the Charles Dickens burger (the noted English writer and novelist who wrote a Christmas story) who is among those channels. They say that the best burgers are served there. The food was very good although I did not find it extraordinary either. In the area of the entrance to the Tower of London I saw that there is the Wagamama franchise, a franchise that makes a fusion of Japanese food. If you like those flavors I recommend it, we discovered this restaurant on our route by car through Wales and ate 2 times on it.
What to see in London in 2 days - Saturday afternoon. After lunch, from the Tower of London, we took the bus to Buckingham Palace. We saw it on the outside and we went up the park to go to the commercial area of Picadilly Circus. We spent some time shopping, souvenirs and we had a coffee and from there, we went to the Marble Arch stop to take the bus and go straight to the hotel. London is very big and although you travel part of the city by bus, late in the afternoon you are tired.
What to see in London in 2 days - Sunday morning. Even if you have just enough time to visit London, I would go to see Candem Town on Sunday morning. It is a visit that will leave you with a taste of "I have lived the essence of London". A very alternative market, crowded with people and a variety of food stalls. You can try from a Chicken Curry, a Thai Pad Thai or a Venezuelan arepa. How to go? If you have the bus voucher, take the blue line to Trafalgar Square, there you take the green line (it is the one that passes through the British Museum) and from the last stop you have about 20 minutes walking. We got off at the penultimate stop and took an Uber and it cost us only 6pounds to get to the market. To return instead of taking the bus, we decided to take another Uber since it cost 12 pounds to get down from Candem Town to Picadilly Circus. If you can not go down 20 minutes walking to the first stop of the tourist bus and go down the green line.
What to see in London in 2 days - Sunday afternoon. Yesterday you did not see the Chinatown today is a good day to do it, that's what we did. Another option is to visit Covent Garden (check that the market is open in the afternoon) or take a look at these other 5 London markets or the best vintage shops in London.
From there we went to the center to take again the blue line of the tourist bus and see the part that we were missing. The bus stops at the same Harrods (we saw it years ago, but if it's your first time it might be interesting to take a walk, although the prices are exorbitant). We continue with the bus and visit the neighborhoods below Hide Park, one known for being Parisian neighborhood of London because of its elegance and the type of shops it has. Very flirtatious the truth !. We finish the route at the stop of our hotel and we get off to visit the neighborhood. The neighborhood is Bayswater (in case you take the hotel in this area), the truth is that it was very lively, had restaurants and souvenir shops. We saw the cheapest souvenir shops here and in Candem Town. You can buy a cup for 1 pound when you

If you are going to visit London in 2 days or on a weekend, you have just enough time to do it but I will give you the keys so you can see the main points of interest. You will return with the taste of mouth of I have seen London! and you will also want to return to continue discovering other spectacular corners. If you have more days or look for other less tourist alternatives, check out what to see in London in 4 days.
Accommodation in London - economic and close. Staying in central London is usually a bit expensive (from that link you have hotels in the very center of London you can check if there are any offers). We were looking at even apartments but some of them had to pick up the keys in another location or they did not keep the bags. In the end we chose to stay in a hotel above the Hide Park (right in the Bayswater neighborhood). It is not in the center but it is not far either and with the following option that I am going to explain you can return to the hotel for free. If you want to take a look at our hotel it is this, the Bayswater Inn, had quadruples and included breakfast (quite simple though buffet). The neighborhood was interesting to walk around and you have a subway stop nearby, although with the next bus option you will not need to take metro.
Travel around London with panoramic bus and the bargain to return to the hotel for free. We booked the bus with the Big Bus company. We booked with them because most buses end their tours at 5:00 pm (depending on the season) but this company from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm from the Marble Arch stop (where is the arch) buses go directly to the hotels. So we spent the day traveling around London and when it got dark we went to that stop and since the bus did not do the whole trip, it went straight to the avenue of the hotels (those that are above the hidepark and others that are more above) we could go back quickly and without having to pay for a metro or taxi. If you are considering moving by subway in London, the single ticket costs 4.90 pounds. If you buy the Oyster card that costs you 5 pounds, you can recharge it with money as many times as you want and the price of the ticket is a little cheaper.
For the difference we reserve the 48 hour ticket. The 48-hour trip also includes a round-trip river cruise, which the one-day cruise only allows for. The cruise that is associated with the Big Bus is very spacious and comfortable. Much better than the one we took years ago when we were in London. To catch the cruise you do not have to queue, with your ticket, you show it to the girl and it gives you access to the cruise, without having to exchange it for another ticket.
Transfers from Gatwick Airport and Luton. We fly to Gatwick with British Airways and on the way back via Luton with Easyjet. As we arrived practically at night we decided to book a private transfer in Blacklane to pick us up at the airport. When I arrived in Gatwich I already had a message on my mobile phone that the driver was waiting for me and as soon as I left the baggage area I had a tablet with my name to pick me up. In 1 hour and little we were at the door of the hotel. We also made the reservation for the return. The truth is that it is super comfortable, the vehicles of this company are luxury and they notify you by message when the driver is going to pick you up and when you are at the door. These amenities make your trip to London on wheels 😉 and do not waste a lot of time on transportation changes. Other options is to take a train or bus from the airport, get to the center of London and take a taxi or metro to your hotel.
Parking and flights at Alicante airport. If you fly from Alicante to London you are in luck. You have many combinations of schedules and companies so you can take the 2, 3 days you have to visit London !.
If you are going to leave your car at the Alicante airport we advise you to book online with OpenParking, they have a special offer for the weekend at € 14. The parking is very easy to find, it is in the same airport. As soon as you leave your car, they move you for free to the airport and in 5 minutes you are there. For the return, they control the arrival time of your flight to wait for you and take you to the parking lot. I have left my car several times, they have always been very punctual and the service very good.
