The enigmatic dark one

I recently finished the beautiful, heartwarming AND -tearing game that is called Rakuen.

So when I was bored I sketched myself a Yami, found the drawing needed some colour, and there he is now.

Needless to say, I really like the game, its characters, the story... (even though it brought me to tears more than once, maybe because of that :P)

And Yami being Yami, he was one of the many highlights for me whenever he showed up. (I suppose I just like characters that are mysterious... *shrugs*)

So, I’m a fan of many things, and recently I got into Thrilling Intent (because certain people spammed the Art Museum thread of the Stand Still. Stay Silent Fan Forum with fan art of it a bit. Thanks, people! ^^)

Determination

So, surprise, surprise, I’m an Undertale fan.

Also SPOILERS.

This piece is heavily inspired by the Narrator!Chara theory and the song Determination, which plays during the ‘Game Over’ screen.

For some reason particular (fan) variations of the song gave me the mental image of Chara aimlessly wandering fields of golden flowers whenever Frisk dies, and, upon coming across them, offer to help them up/motivate them to keep going.

Done with a pencil outline and painted over with acrylic colour.

Nightmares

Since I’m a fan of Minna Sundberg’s webcomic Stand Still. Stay Silent, I made fan art as part of a challenge. This is Árni Þór Reynisson, a character who only showed up in the prologue, being haunted by nightmares.

Apparently @windfighter thought that there wasn’t enough fanart of those two, and suggested this piece (really, there isn’t enough fanart of them though :P), but what played most likely a bigger role was the debate over a theory about them being one and the same being (or at least two sides of the same coin), which could explain the situation of the latest page (678).

(I had this suspicion for some time but as I did a re-read of the integral parts of the comic where they show up it only grew, and the burning/evaporating empty facade of the Pastor’s church fuelled it as well).

Well, I guess we'll see whether this suspicion proves to be true or if everything connecting the two entities is just happenstance.
