“It helps. Makes everything feel better.”

“Oh definitely, I swear chocolate is more important than anything to you.”

“Oh probably, unless there was chocolate, then you’d be screwed.” He laughs.

“Yeah, you could’ve totally kept me on task.”

“And I say I shouldn’t be helping you, but i still do.” He laughs. “And I bet you missed it.”

“Okay, maybe it’s good you didn’t help me then,” Bruno joked.

“I could have totally helped you with that, while scowling and telling you that you shouldn’t have procrastinated.”

“You missed 4 long boring hours of me - notorious procrastinator - doing 2 essays.”

He smirks at her, but she misses it when she looks down at her own food. “That sounds like fun. i didn’t get to see what that second creature was, did you? If so, did you figure out what it was?” He picks at his food a bit, taking the smallest bite. 

“Who said I was gonna let people know what they’re missing out on?” She said with a small smirk before looking down at her food. Wait. What could that have implied? Thankfully, she had a question to answer… actually omit certain truths about. “You know, care for magical creatures research stuff. Seriously not that big of a deal. Not, you know, finding actual beasts in tunnels.” Not a complete lie.

“Tell that to anyone in the school and they’ll laugh in you face. I believe most people see me as wet parchment.” He smiles. “Really? Why did you do?”

Brynn just smiled at his first statement. “Is that so? But what if I told you that I have fun because of you?” She twirled her hair for a bit. “I genuinely did something educational yesterday so not exactly amusing or thrilling, or fun.”

Clayton nods. “Sounds like buckets of fun.” He gives a small smile. “So other than sneaking with you to the kitchen, what did I miss yesterday?” He was trying to change the subject, knowing it bothered his best friend.

“I don’t even know, and honestly I don’t think I want to know,” Bruno replied. “I’d rather forget about him altogether, he’s where he deserves to be.”

He musters up a small smile as he put a minimal amount of food on his plate, eating even less than what he had. “I’m not going to be mad if you had fun without me.” He teases. “So what did you do all day yesterday if you weren't getting into trouble without me.”

“Okay,” she responded, though she seriously doubted that he was doing fine. “Er, nothing much. I don’t usually do that many reckless things alone.” She didn’t mean to hide what she discovered yesterday but it might’ve been a bit awkward to blurt out what she had found -which would probably make Clayton a little if not a lot more uncomfortable.

Clayton looks up at her and runs a hand through his hair. “Nothing serious... I’m fine.” He gives a small wince. “I’m sorry I disappeared yesterday. Did you do anything fun?” He offers her a small smile before reaching out and grabbing something chocolate and stuffing it in his mouth.

“Hey,” Brynn greeted as she noticed Clayton sitting down in front of her. He looked like incredibly messy and exhausted. It made her a bit worried. “What happened to you? Are you okay?” When he was gone yesterday, she had actually gone to the library herself to do some research on the jewel attached to her necklace. Apparently the jewel was capable of detecting supernatural creatures -especially when it glowed blue and it was usually was just supposed to be a light transparent blue. So… he was supernatural? Like a dark creature? But that didn’t really matter now since here Clayton was, looking awful.

“That sounds like loads of fun..”Clayton nods. “What did she see him about?”

“Pretty good, my Mum owled the other day, apparently she went to go visit my father in which Brittany proceeded to freak out about, I’ve had Quidditch taking up a lot of my life too. Honestly it’s been a bit hectic lately.”

~v~The next morning-er-afternoon.~v~ Clayton had a really rough night. Honestly, one of the worst he’s ever had and he’s had a lot. He honestly didn’t want to go off to the school, and normally he wouldn’t. But he decided to get dressed in the same uniform he wore yesterday and go get looked at, even though he knew he looked like crap. But at least the scratches and bruises were all hidden by clothing. He didn’t really want to go, but he thought of Brynn... Would she have even noticed he was gone? And if she did, what would he say? He shrugs to himself as he heads into the great hall. He trudged along, his body protesting every ounce of movement and sat down at the griffindor table. He noticed that lunch was almost over... and He had sat across from Brynn.

~v~Later~v~ It was weird how her care of magical creatures professor suddenly took interest in her jewellery -actually just her necklace, the one she had found with Clayton- and suddenly started staring at it as if it was some lost rare relic. She had shrugged off her professor’s questions about where it came from or how she had gotten it -to which she had replied that she had no idea because technically, she really didn’t know its origin and whatever. But now she was sort of curious of why it had gotten so much attention and was planning to ask Clayton if he wanted to do some research about it later together that dinner. Dinnertime was now almost over and she saw no sign of him.

Clayton smiles at her and as he watches her leave, his smile drops. He throws the food away before going to the hospital wing. There he drank an awful tasting potion before the head nurse leads him out and to the whomping willow for him to go to the shrieking shack for the night.

“Well, great, care of magical creatures then. I’m not exactly acing that class so I got to go,” she said while trying to take all the food on the table. “I’ll catch you later!”

Clayton offers a small smile. “Okay, enough about me. What’s been going on with you, how have you been?”

“Well I want to be a potioneer, why not start off on something for my best friend.”

“It’s monday..” He hums. “I have charms, but I’m acing that class so I can risk one skip...” He leaves out the fact that the teachers sometimes expect it when it’s close. He takes another nibble from the roll.

“What day is it again…? I think I either have potions or care of magical creatures. I’ll have to check again. How about you?”

Clayton laughs. “Yeah, that’ll be fun. Who do you have first?” He asks as they head down to the kitchens. He wasn’t very hungry but he’d make himself eat something. Two days before the moon. He pushed away the part that reminded him that he’ll have to tell her something. Or he could avoid it and tell her a couple days later. When they get to the kitchens he only grabs a roll and nibbles on it.

Secretly Brynn was hoping that breakfast was over so that she could just stay with Clayton and avoid confronting people who were going to ask where she had been… or maybe even wonder what was going on between her and Clayton. In all honesty, Brynn herself didn’t know either. So when no one was in the Great Hall and the tables were completely empty, she was relieved. “Okay, the kitchens! We’ll be a little late for class but it’ll be alright. I can’t wait to eat, I’m starved.”

“That I know. They’re expensive too... You know you don’t need to do that.”

“Well I’m working on that, though I just have a problem getting some ingredients.”

“I bet if you can master Wolfsbane, you can do it.” Clayton offers a small smile.

“Well then I’ll invent a potion to cure it,” Bruno says determined.
