what’s with 24-hour deodorant? i mean, sure, the suspense waiting until the 24th hour that you’ve worn it is thrilling, but it’s kinda pricey for something that only works one hour a day

Two years ago, in a sudden moment of clarity, I asked myself, “what in the fuck are you saying?” after making yet another joke about killing myself, over something so needlessly trivial that I cannot remember it.
It was the common joke in my group of friends, to respond to “are you ready?” with “I am ready to die.”
For some reason that day, I had the thought, “is this healthy? Is it affecting me at all to be saying that I want to die all the time, even if I’m sure I don’t mean it?” My answer was no. It couldn’t possibly be healthy to repeatedly say that I was ready to die, every single day.
I asked myself, am I ready to die? The answer was “No! I got shit to do! I got shit to do, like, tomorrow! I got dreams and stuff!”
From then on I decided I’d change how I spoke – to stop with the suicidal ‘jokes’, to say positive things instead. From then on, I did not respond to “how are you?” with “boy, I’m ready to die,” I would try to respond with “doin’ alright,” at the very least.
A month ago, I was walking through along when a Vietnam Veteran I work with, Sergeant Lewallen, came the other way. He greeted me with, “how are you doing?” I instantly responded with my usual of “I’m doin’ good, Sergeant.” “That’s what I like about you. Every time I ask, you’re always doin’ good.”
Perhaps that’s part of the secret of beating the temptation of suicide. Simply changing how you act and what you say. Because if you say it enough times… you begin to believe it. It doesn’t work one way, either. If you say you’re ‘doin’ good’ enough times?
Maybe the next time you say it, you’ll be doin’ good.

i just got back from seeing the brazilian production of les mis and here are some of my thoughts on the brazilian enjoltaire:
- grantaire is really sad??? maybe the saddest grantaire i’ve seen?? i don’t really know how to explain it but even in his line in red & black he was more like a sad drunk than a playful drunk.. i thought that was a really interesting portrayal of R - instead of teasing enj, grantaire was kind of abrupt to him for most of the show and it almost felt like R didn’t trust himself around enjolras - R quietly nodded along enj’s words quite a few times - enjolras doesn’t really acknowledge grantaire till the barricade when he hands R the gun - after eponine’s death, grantaire literally doesn’t take his eyes off enjolras - in drink with me, when grantaire starts singing his part, enjolras breaks into the most beautiful shiny grin???? - but as soon as enj realizes what grantaire is singing/talking about, his smile disappears - also during his lines in drink with me, R is throwing stuff around angrily and no one is really being able to stop him - enj runs up to grantaire and everyone backs off - grantaire stops and, for the first time during the show, allows himself to get really near enjolras and they hold the most intense and longest eye contact???/)/ - my favorite part about this was that you could really see how much enj cares about grantaire
ok so this is what i gathered from watching les mis brasil tonight. can’t really confirm if this was what the actors were going for… im so far up enjoltaire’s ass i may have read way too much into their actions. buT ANYWAY both the actors who played enjolras and grantaire were AMAZING and they deserve all the love!!!

Preach!
Where do you get your inspiration? I seem to constantly be in writer's block. Thank you!
Inspiration comes and goes, that’s natural. Sometimes I don’t answer asks until I’m inspired to answer the request wholeheartedly. There are a few questions in my inbox that are fascinating to me but I want to allow myself the time to think about a more careful response and write when I’m most enthusiastic about it. I don’t want to spit out quick and cheap work on this blog just to have it out of my inbox. I’d like to give each one a little bit of care.
I guess I just don’t force myself to write or draw or create when I don’t want to, and taking little breaks lets inspiration come back to me instead of me chasing it. I also write about things that I want to read too so I constantly have my own attention and interest haha, but sometimes it’s good to be a little selfish in that way.
I write about things I wish I had, or had once, or want to hear, or how I wish things were handled. I want to see what it looks like when my own thoughts are written before me. I want to see how I appear in different characters and how willing I am to step into someone else’s shoes. I want to see if I grow from it. In that way it’s therapeutic for me to write, I suppose, and that’s a type motivation in itself.
Don’t worry about writer’s block. I wouldn’t even call it that, I’d call it a resting stage. Inspiration isn’t constant and it’s good to recognize the importance of resting in between and valuing that part of being a creator just as much as the exciting franticness of being inspired. You’re doing just fine.

“The power of a glance has been so much abused in love stories that it has come to be disbelieved. Few people dare say nowadays that two beings have fallen in love because they have looked at each other. Yet that is the way love begins, and only that way. The rest is only the rest, and comes afterwards. Nothing is more real than the great shocks that two souls give each other in exchanging this spark.”

These are my favorites from the very last episode of Season 1. I finished She-Ra, and I don’t know what to do now besides draw those crazy amazing lesbians.

earlier this month it was 120 degrees in Australia , but yeah lets continue to mock those trying to save us in the 12 years we have left to slow climate change’s effects.
What is the worst thing that could happen if we listen to scientists and change our ways, and then it turns out they were lying?
Slowly dying in a mad max hell world to own the libs I guess.

To make art in fandom is to follow your passion at the risk of never being taken seriously...What makes what I do different from 'real writing'? Is it that I don't use original characters? I guess that makes every Hardy Boys edition, every Star Wars book, every spinoff, sequel, fairy-tail retelling, historical romance....'not real writing'. Or is it that a real book is something printed, that you hold in your hand, not something you write on the internet?...It's merely this: 'real writing' is done by serious people, whereas fanfiction is written by weirdos, teenagers, degenerates, and women.
