Your wedding day is a special event, one that likely won’t happen again. There are certain areas that you can choose a cheaper version of when it comes to your wedding, but wedding videography and/or photography isn’t one of those areas!

Just because a person owns video camera equipment doesn’t mean they know how to use it and tell your story in the way that you want told. Instead of jumping in with the first videographer you find, good due diligence is required if you want the best value (not the cheapest deal) for you. Remember, you’re going to be sharing this video with your relatives for decades to come.

We can capture everything from the wedding rehearsal to the end of the reception, then we edit it to fit together like a movie or a documentary of the entire event. These packages can cost $3,500 to $6,000, again, dependent on duration of event and length of film.

Some couples forgo hiring a wedding videographer, unfortunately. They believe that a good photographer can capture their most precious memories and rely on friends with hand-held video cameras and cell phones to record all the footage they need.

But, you need to ask a few questions: After that, who will edit it all together? Who will ensure that all the footage has the same high quality? How will we add sound? Will it look good in the end?

Professional photography and videography are separate skill sets that require years of honing and experience. Although both are essentially about capturing memories, expertise in each media—to say nothing of doing two things at the same time—is a lot to expect from one person, especially for a once-in-a-lifetime event like your wedding.

So, when considering a package deal, verify that the business will coordinate a team of photographer and camera operator to cover your event. The goal is to produce a photo album of spectacular imagery with a matching video of outstanding movie making. This is what we do, if you choose that package.

Having a separate wedding photographer and videographer is a good option too. You can look for similar things like experience, reputation and reliability, to both types of services as you search for the providers separately.

However, finer details like methods and techniques need to be examined, too.

When qualifying a photographer, your discussion will focus on photography styles and shooting details; with a video professional, your conversation needs to be about motion editing, story and even background music. When you talk to eith pro, they should be open and honest with any questions you have.
