Hyun-jin’s older sister – "the golden child" in a traditional high-expectation household. She followed the rules, pursued a respectable career (UTP – think lawyer, doctor, professor, etc.), and maintained her relationship with the family long after Jin distanced himself. While they were never inseparable, they were each other’s quiet support system growing up, trading glances across the dinner table and slipping notes under bedroom doors after fights.

They’ve been out of touch for a while now, aside from the occasional "happy birthday" or "happy new year" text. Jin isn’t entirely sure where she is these days, though their parents still brag about her success during his rare check-in calls. She only knows Jin is somewhere in the states and still "doing music". The reason for their distance isn’t resentment, but silent shame and internal conflict on Jin’s part. He’s the one who hasn’t responded to texts or emails. A part of him feels like he abandoned her; another part always knew she’d be fine and probably thrives more than he ever did under their family’s expectations.

Important to note: their family is not abusive. They just have strict rules and high expectations. Jin did not meet said expectations when he chose art over security and refused to change his mind, and that was essentially the wedge that reshaped their lives. He keeps his distance, convinced he let them down. He doesn’t really know how they feel about his success, and he’s never asked.

Would be cool if she had a kid, too, but that’s entirely UTP.
