I'm not sure of one thing...

Hugo shifted in place, holding her gift closer to him. “I umm.. Yeah..” Liar. The boy flinched, “Why do you ask..?”

"Okie dokie," she said. She then tilted her head. "You okay, Hugo?"

I'm not sure of one thing...

Hugo jumped, shifting in his stance. “You didn’t have to do that..” he forced a smile, holding the jar in his hands. “Thanks Cleo..” You don’t mean that at all. The voice in his head hissed. “I’d love to join your family for a dinner over break. I don’t have any plans so.. just.. owl me, I guess, if you want to. Then we can set up a time..”

"Happy!" she gleams. "I bought you candy canes." She hands him the jar full of candy canes. "And my parents want to know if you want to come over for dinner sometime over the holiday."

I'm not sure of one thing...

If I should be happy or sad that the holidays are near…? The answer, I fear, is still a mystery.

"Well you're the one who keeps hitting me."

"Hit after hit, and fall down. Hard. I mean someone who can take a hit and keep standing, love."

"Excuse you! I can totally take a hit!"

"None of my friends are, surprisingly. You’re all driving me mad. I just want to hit people who can take it." Lily nudged Cleo playfully.

Cleo laughed and then grabbed her things. "Wouldn't you like to know?"

"Do I really now? Please, pray tell. I’m all ears." His voice was taunting. He shot her a pointed look, eyebrows raised as if in challenge.

Cleo grabbed her hand, giggling. "Well, I've never actually had the skill in anything sporty."

Lily offered her a hand to get up. “Well, you’re not very good, love.”

Cleo groaned and flipped over on the ground. "Well, I'm not," she muttered.

"I thought it would be fun, and personally I’m having a great time!"

Cleo rolled her eyes. “I don’t know, maybe because I’m around you and you let stupidity overrule your life, so…”

"Why yes, pray tell, why did you let stupidity overrule your pretty head?”

"Ow," Cleo sighed as she hit the ground. "And this is why I don't play muggle games. Remind me again why I agreed to this?"

"I worry, it's what I do."

"I’m fine, alright?" he offered her a kind smile, "I promise. A little bit scared of  that happening again, but alright. You have nothing to worry about with me.. "

"Yeah, but I also care a lot about how you are. I wasn't the only one who went through it."

"You’re thoughts are much more important than mind right now, Cleo. Besides, I came out here to you, not the other way around."

"I'd rather know what's on your mind, Hugo."

Gingerly Hugo put his arm around her, pulling her closer to him. “I’m alright, but I’m more worried about you. What all is on your mind?”

When he asked about it, she frowned, she had completely forgotten about it when she was fooling around with Hugo. She shrugged. "I mean it just-- I don't know." She looked at Hugo. "What about you?"

After getting her to smile, Hugo felt like his job as her friend was done. He scooted from her slightly, offering her a smile.”So, are you feeling better than before?”

She flipped her hair jokingly. "I try."

Hugo hummed behind her hand, pondering the given situation. He raised his hand and placed it on her waist— quickly beginning to tickle her. “Well played.”
