Re smart goals and trough of despair
The smart goal discussion was in fact my strategy
As in previous week's road session I did not quite understand the graph about trough of despair as I was reading it as
Though of despair and have no idea about it
After that session I decided that I will always double check with the concepts and meanings with my tutors if I'm unclear of something.
That's why I quickly gathered. Y courage turned my mic on and ask the teacher to explain more about smart goals.
I'm confident now as I fully understand what smart goals means and what my smart goals are.

Week 6 workshop
We discussed about smart goals in the session vicky concluded and assumed that we (the students) are clear about smart goals as she wants to move to the next activity. I really wanted to ask vicky to explain more about smart goals as I wasnt much sure or clear about it. Although I was taking diary each week but we never discussed our smart goals separately. We discussed the components to add to our portfolio but in terms of smart goal we merely discussed them we actually focused on our future goals. Finally I gather my courage and turned my mic on and requested Vicky to explain me more about smart goals. Then she explained smart goals are the small steps which we are taking in order to achieve our future goals.
I can see the difference of my increased confidence to publically speaking. I used to be very shy in the beginning of the course but o have overcome that shyness.
Then in our virtual session there started a whole new discussion on an extended level about our smart goals it was really clear now.
Thank God I gathered the courage to ask about smart goals otherwise I would have miss this important element or might not distinguish it from my future goals.
I remember last year in our immigration unit we studied some theories about language and its impact on immigrants there was one theory when you speak in your own language you talk confidently but when you speak a different l5like immigrants who came from Asia whose first language is urdu or hindi when they speak English their tone becomes apologetic. I can exactly understand this theory
As if I compare my speaking from now to the time when I came to uk I use to be very apologetic while talking in English whereas very confident while talking in urdu. I remember when my eldest child started nursery I use to take my second son with him to drop first child in nursery once in his nursery they conducted an activity it was like cup cake decoration. My second child who was not a student want to take part in the activity I remember asking my first son's class teacher
Miss" can my second child also decorate the cup cakes please my voice was so apologetic instead I would say it was more like I'm begging for something ( as I had a small video of that time ) but now I understand why was that

Reflection
Why did this work
Why didn't that work
Eg I looked something this way and other students looked into a different way
What would you have done differently
Vicky gave example of today's session like students were really well engage
Bad thing is her internet was not working
What she might have done differently like completely log off and on again
Or check connection before
Bring things from outside to reflect

Week 6
Workshop
Kent
Benthon
Mill
Philosophy in ethics
Looking into smart goals you should put your smart goals
Think where you ultimately want to be
This is where I am and this is where I want to be in future
Smart goal is your future planning you can incorporate your smart goals with your future goals
How it will help to achieve
Small steps to get to your future goal
Smart goal is steps you taking to your ambitions
Like my smart goals are to build confidence as English is my second language so I really want to improve and get out of my nerves
In workshops and srs activities I took part in discussions and it helped me to speak confidently
I remember in foundation year I didn't have the courage to speak to the teacher from my seat I use to go to the teacher and literally whisper my query but now I have gained confidence to speak and share my views and ideas with others
If you got clear goal clear plan you will eventually get to your ambitions
One student's smart goal is to work for home office to work with immigration to help refugees she wants to do masters asylum law and all relevant knowledge to get to her ultimate job

Road map week 5
Reflect the process of writing the file note in your appendices and portfolio
We need to show what we have learned in this unit
From last year student focused on team work and interviews activity
We can reflect two or three main areas to reflect and comment on rest of the area briefly
To practice interview skills we can do a mock interview with your colleagues then we can reflect in portfolio
The main thing is what is important to you which you can reflect
Thinking outside the box and bring evidence is really encouraging in this unit.
Tumblr media
If this unit has helped you in other aspects then reflect on this

What level of reflection you are
Do you feel surface level of reflection
Or you feel more at a deeper level of reflection
Sometimes vision activities could be useful to reflect as you are looking outside the box it's a good way to reflect
Sometimes you have your best thoughts when you are a different place may be if you are on gym
You can also mention if you have acquired some new skills you can reflect on that
It's about knowing things holistically and how you reflect on them.

Sometimes you cant reflect under pressure if someone ask you to reflect on something you might feel not comfortable with that and feel like I can't reflect it now
It's better to reflect in your own time may he when you go back to your notes and then feel comfortable to reflect on certain incidents or experiences

Workshop 4
Vicky mentioned to have a mock interview with a friend and you can reflect how you felt
Do you like it or it frustrated you ?
If you have used any of the tools of CPD or vespa you can reflect on these in portfolio
Has any of the activities you have used been useful to you or not so if you add something from other experiences it will add extra depth of reflection
It could be well being due to current situation
If you feedback someone else's experience you can input a good feedback with a depth of reflection.
