I hate the “open floor plan” that everyone is obsessed with in houses now. I want nooks and crannies and bizarre floor plans. I don’t need to be able to see what someone is doing on the other side of the house. I want places to hide and lurk and dwell in the shadows. I am the beast who awaits in the labyrinth

Thousands of years ago when the ancestor of this creature was domesticated, two distinct groups developed: scent breeds and sound breeds. The taiga and tundra of the far north were helped made habitable for nomadic peoples for millennia with the help of this peculiar sound breed of creature. With its large facial disc, it can detect the slightest noises of small animals scurrying beneath deep snow, providing people with a source of food during bleak winter months.
