Hot take but I really do think that some of y’all need to consider how/why/when/how often you’re making fun of straight people for being straight

I do it too, I’m not going to pretend I don’t make jokes about the hets, or the down with cis bus, or whatever

But I recently befriended a cis, straight dude and I have watched him be dismissed, degraded, and unambiguously insulted for the perceived “crime” of being straight — all in queer environments where he is allegedly “completely welcome” and surrounded by “friends”

This guy is not a toxic person! But I have seen him be made to feel so small and like his comfort and safety in those spaces are conditional on his silence and acceptance of being treated like a human dunk zone, and I think that some of y’all have had so much shit from straight/cis people that the second you feel like you’ve got an inch, you want to luxuriate in the perceived catharsis of bullying someone who— actually —doesn’t deserve it

And until he very, very carefully mentioned to me in private that it makes him feel bad, I didn’t even clock that I was involved in doing that, that it had become so instinctive for me to make casual jokes like that, and that— well meaning or otherwise —I had been contributing to an environment that made someone I really really like feel like shit

So, I dunno, I think maybe some of y’all should think about that too

And the second take is about mra on tumblr. Maybe it's my own echo chamber acting, but wasn't the whole point of it to actually add men to feminism? Like, the ideas have been for long in feminist literature, and I think they are important: The whole point about men loneliness and toxic masculinity etc is to show men that yes, even if they are the "dominating" gender, they still suffer under patriarchy, that feminism isn't just about freedom for women, but for everyone. That male loneliness, which comes from toxic masculinity performativeness and the indoctrination of it to the point where a predator role is injected into men which absolutely (and naturally) scares and makes women fucking afraid of interacting it's not a women's fault, but men's, and the way forward is by deconstructing that way of male performance and creating a new healthier one. That the solution to the incapacity of controlling emotions and the women's monopoly of men's affection and love is not resenting women for not giving it even if you fucking need it and you are fucking depressed because of that, but that you have to (re)learn how you relate to your emotions and get in contact with them. That you must allow yourself to be weak, to stop playing the predator role.

Men's patriarcal structures must be destroyed and feminism needs men, because if not, you risk just having a female patriarch instead of a male one.

Recognizing men are lonely is not about adopting your local crybaby. It's about recognizing them as vulnerable, equal, human. Not your natural predator to beat in the social chain. Nobody is free until everybody is free.

The first one is that pedophiles make me...sad? Like, let's be real and human. A pedophile is someone who feels atraction to kids. They didn't *choose* to feel that atraction. (If they act on it it's wrong let me be clear, but let's continue). Like, if someone feels atracted to people their age, they can explore and express sexuality freely under the preconception of consent and all, but a pedophile will never be able to. Like, let's imagine a pedo who... Has basic human decency and realizes that a child can't give consent and so, they don't fucking act on it. Even if they feel atraction and that's real and can't do nothing to change it, they are absolutely shoned because of it and will never be able to fulfill their desires (as it has and should be). And let's remember: they didn't choose to like children. The best they can do is get into ageplay or find a partner (a consenting adult) with a childlike appearance. Even in porn (the one made with the consent of everyone implied, in this case obviously only drawings) is considered by a lot of people as absolutely evil and unethical and something to be ashamed of.

I find it deeply alienating for them

Oh, and as an addenda to this post. No. I'm not having any agenda of supporting pedophiles or anything like that. I'm just saying that hey, they are human, even if they are fucked up. Not monsters. And as someone can have a redhead kink and don't be a fucking weirdo or not act on it, maybe it would be good to not forget that about pedophiles too(without meaning with this to leave children with them let me insist on that), and not some kind of evil entity.

I've read a bit of poetry in my life. Mostly classic. I tried making some poetry myself. I still wonder what my poetry was.

Poetry is not limited by line breaks nor rhyme, but at the same time a difference lives if compared to prose.

One would think to be a matter of length, or history, but an epic is extensive, and the romance threatens to, as its name would imply, to never be ended.

So, where lies the difference?

There's no actual answer if we try to be precise, but I like to think that prose worries more about their narrative, while the poetry deals in terms on beauty.

I like to write poetry in prose. From afar they seem simple words, and for most, they are. That includes me, if I weren't the one to write. And yet therein, when I write, I find beauty.
