New headcanon unlocked: District 2 wears ancient Roman-type hairstyles and has traditions with how they are worn (but no strict gender rules on them, only rules for certain jobs or expectations for certain classes)
Boys in training for the Games or to become Peacekeepers tend to go for the clean-cut, short styles that many emperors had, along with extremely short bangs. (In reference to how Julius Ceaser used to comb his hair forward towards his forehead in order to hide his receding hairline)
Women wear their long hair up in hairstyles while young girls have more freedom to wear theirs down depending on where they live and their social status. They might also put importance on veils and hats depending on how much they wish to cover their locks from the hot, District 2 sun or from their type of work. (Post-imperial era Rome, hair was seen as mostly associated with women in an erotic sense, hence the coverups they used then)
Wigs in ancient Rome were highly prized if they were from conquered civilizations, seen as spoils of war, so I think it's possible that District 2 could view hair as a commodity or pride in some ways, as much as D1 or the Capitol might. (Maybe some victors in District 2 sell their hair to high-paying Capitolites)
Bonus: they might view hair as highly important and use it in memorial jewelry (such as in a locket) (hair was used as offerings to gods in ancient Rome, so it was considered sacred to a degree as well)
(Still a short-haired Clove truther though)

100% real PICTURES of Sejanus according to Casca.
Ok so the joke come when we talk of Sejanus getting the chance of get a bond with Casca, he would be probably following him around like a tiny duck, he have no friends so his free time he would be in his office or whenever Casca is.
Also going to the Casca and Strabo friendship agenda we talk how Casca could meet a young Sejanus so get stuck in his head the tiny soulful big eyes child its how he look always lmao more because Casca feel he's too old.

Have you read SOTR ? If you were a tribute in the 50th games and were asked to join the newcomers , would you accept the offer ?
tough question . i probably would if I didn't have any other choice though id probably join the careers since it might give more advantage ( also im a district 1 girlie ) though i might get killed quickly if i couldn't keep up with what they tell me
i think id be screwed regardless because if i was in the games id be the most doomed person even more doomed then the youngest tribute
you know how some fans say " my toxic trait is thinking i can win the hunger games " well my toxic trait is that i know i WONT win . im not very athletic and have a very low attention span . i also get stressed and scared very easily and also fall asleep randomly and i could never handle blood or killing someone i get nightmares from just seeing a dead animal on the street and i can't handle hearing a baby cry and im supposed to kill a child who might be the same as my nephew ? NAH I PHYSICALLY CAN'T
so yeah if I ever was in the games id be beyond screwed 🥲🥲

Okay now that my partner has seen all of The Hunger Games movies I can share this hilarious thing that happened when we watched the first one.
It's the finale. Katniss and Peeta are fighting Cato on top the Cornucopia.
My partner goes, "You know, I wish they had visually differentiated between Cato and Peeta a little bit more. Especially when they're both blonde, wearing the same thing, and covered in blood...
...Like I can tell the one not choking Katniss is Peeta, but still."
I was so glad she was looking at the screen and not my face because I have no idea what expression my face made but I was suddenly trying SO hard not to lose it entirely. I'm still laughing about it, honestly.

I find it so devastating how quickly sejanus attaches to anyone who shows him the slightest kindness. Like this boy has spent over a decade only knowing love from his mother (and Strabo in his own misguided way) so he'll take whatever he can get.
Those few times he hugged Coriolanus were probably the only times in his memory he's experienced affection from anyone besides ma.
Also Maude ivory was very likely the only person who ever genuinely wanted to be his friend (I have many thoughts about sej and the covey)
like one of his biggest flaws being the result of wanting to be loved or even liked hurts me so bad
That's partly why I think the relationship he could've had with highbottom is so interesting like I wonder what impact they couldve had if they realised they were on the same side. Also how do you think Sej would react to finding out Cascas story about the games? theres so much to think about there.
Conclusion: Coriolanus Snow why did you do that to him I hate you

his relationship with sejanus was really triggering for me it reminded me of a friend who used to take advantage of me while also saying horrible things about me . and to see so much romanticizing it makes me uncomfortable
Also I literally cant get over how genuinely evil everything coryo did to sejanus and the plinths is. I could make an in depth post about everything he said and did but I truly think it gets glossed over by the fandom a lot because people want their silly little toxic yaoi

I don’t think any of them—Haymitch, Katniss, Peeta—were Lucy Gray’s revenge. Lucy Gray wasn’t looking for revenge. Lucy Gray wanted freedom.
Lucy Gray, the entertainer, became a symbol of the Games for Snow. It’s what he falls in love with. She is the circus, and he wants nothing more than to be the ringleader.
But the flip side is this. Her music is such an interesting study in irony, because her songs become the “spiritual” backbone of the district she had no real loyalty to. Her music becomes a cry not for revenge, but for everything it was about: freedom, in life, or, more often, in death. Her music, over and over again, is what Peeta articulates: I will not die as a piece in a game. And she could have.
Snow will forever see District 12 as his piece, its victors as his pawns, and Lucy Gray as his twisted justification for everything.
There is a lovely way in which, when Katniss and Peeta use Lucy Gray’s weapon, poison, they are beginning the real overarching end to Lucy Gray’s story: liberating her (her memory) from being a piece in the Game. Using the thing she inspired—the entertainment value—to bring the whole system down.
The story of Lucy Gray’s impact on Haymitch, Katniss, and Peeta isn’t about her revenge on Snow. It’s about how Snow could never keep her. Her lasting impact isn’t the Games. Her lasting impact is that Katniss sings her lullaby over her beloved children as they play in a meadow. A meadow full of sorrow and death, yes, but a meadow that has grown green again, a meadow in which the children are free.

i always saw young haymitch as being a more average teen as i imagined that his life before the games was as happy and stable as it can be in the districts so i don't mind him being a yapper
this is off topic but i've seen people critiquing that his kills were in self defense only but i honestly always imagined that he took a fox face approach of staying out of sight and trying to avoid fights as much as possible . also this might be very controversial and while i still don't know how to feel about haymitch being a failed mockingjay it made more sense why his loved ones were killed i always thought that it can't have been due to using the forcefield i didn't buy that he was the only one to use it or the arena for his advantage like district 3 does that alot so do they frequently get punished for it ? for a while i believed that snow did that just because he was salty that district 12 got another victor ( i mean it's still kinda true dude is very pitiful )
Not sure if I made a proper post about this, but I actually really liked Haymitch's narrating style. Its one of my favorite things about the book tbh. I hear a lot of people say it was too juvenile for them, but being close to age as Haymitch, it made him more relatable and endearing to me. Katniss sounded "older", and Snow was... Snow. But I could totally see Haymitch as my classmate. A guy I would've been grouped together for presentations and gotten along with.
And that makes the ending feel even sadder. Like, dude, your supposed to be working towards your G1. Why are you fighting for your freaking life and losing everyone you love😭

i find it hilarious that haymitch asked half the victors to basically babysit katniss and peeta and lots of them went : welp let's get on his sweethearts nerves and do things that would make her uncomfortable she surely would want to ally with us 😌
like he had to know that asking JOHAANA of all people won't be the most responsible thing ever 🤣 what was he thinking ?
I know Haymitch was losing his fucking MIND when everyone was doing the OPPOSITE of making Katniss want to ally with them.
Finnick, putting on the "please don't kill me" bracelet: I don't get it. Everyone likes me.
Haymitch: Maybe quit it with the fucking sugar cubes and sideways talk, you idiot. This is why they should have kept you in school.
--------
Haymitch: IN FRONT OF HER?!?
Johanna: Well, I mean, are you like totally sure she wouldn't be into that kind of thing?
Haymitch: ....
Johanna: Just had to be totally sure. How'd she take the naked wrestling?
Haymitch: I'm too fucking sober for this conversation. Knock it off.
---------
Chaff: Your girl's a great kisser, by the way. Peeta's a lucky guy, that's for sure.
Haymitch: You wanna keep that other hand?
---------
Plutarch: Yeah, I don't know I tried but I'm not quite sure she got the message.
Haymitch: you didn't show her that stupid fucking watch, did you?

she is one of my favorites too , she is such an incredibly tragic character who suffered so much immensely i always wish that she managed to find some sort of fulfilment and happiness even if it's little . it makes me want to cry thinking of her trying to cope or spiraling
also i really love her scenes and the way she talks it's very iconic to me
i'm thoroughly convinced that no one will ever understand how much i give a damn about johanna.
every time she appears on screen i literally scream not only because she's fine as shit but because that is the face of a fallen angel.
like wdym johanna mason was promised a peaceful life then reaped again because she was the only living female victor?? wdym johanna mason lost herself in the capitol and developed a fear of water so strong she can't even bathe?? wdym johanna mason lost so much of herself that she turned to morphling to ease the pain??
yes, everything is valid but the mere fact that we can slowly see her lose herself is gut wrenching and heart breaking and i fear that no one will ever understand the way i feel about her nor will i ever be able to properly explain my feelings.
she is such a complex character and person that i have to read and reread every scene she was in and watch and rewatch every scene she was in because i need to figure out exactly at what point did she feel like life was shit enough to turn to drugs.
i literally can't articulate my thoughts well enough to explain exactly why i care so much and why she will forever be my favorite character but here i am, giving it a go, because though i hardly have my thoughts together i do still have thoughts with enough meaning for me to need to get them out.

oh man i missed tbosas fix it aus so much . WE CAN'T let the hyperfixation of this story disappear
this reminds me of when we were discussing the layout of the enclosure in our dms 🥹 . glad this came back
THE TBOSAS HYPERFIXATION LLLLIIIIVVVEEEESSSSSS
Before I answer to the several tags I’ve gotten I have. A new AU. Because I have a resit in 8 hours and my brain has decided this is the night to Not Sleep.
In the movie, the enclosure has this weird rock thing at the back through which the tributes were thrown into the zoo, right? Well I’m sure some tributes have experience climbing walls! Treech and Lamina, of course, but maybe also those from more urban landscapes like Bobbin, Teslee and Circ because they might have climbed buildings before. It looks like the wall is part of the enclosure wall, so the five of them use the wall to just… climb over the bars of the enclosure and get out. Easy peasy. They could use some elaborate ploy to get the keys and take out the peacekeepers and erase the footage to disappear like ghosts, but they could also just tie their clothes together for a makeshift rope and help everyone else climb onto the rock wall that way. Looks like the peacekeepers were mostly guarding the gate anyway, so two of the tributes sneak past the one dude stationed there (which is disrespectfully easy) and make some suspicious noises to distract him while the others pass him.
And then they’re gone. Just gone. Only half of the cameras in their path picked up any footage of them, but that doesn’t matter because nobody checks that footage until it’s already too late and they’ve left the zoo. Now what?
Nothing, that’s what. The tributes aren’t even in the city anymore, they stole food for a week and started hiking, what’re you gonna do? Follow them into the forest? Nah, that’s their territory for over half of them, lets not fight them on their home turf. It’s not worth it, the games were a waste of tax dollars anyway
