clublead , david.
❝ a virus? ❞ the laugh is clipped, icarus’ wings gone too close to the sun. he allows the movement of fingers, the grip of michael’s own hand. they linger together, the remainder of their immortal world a simple buzz of neon and hard rock. ❝ what i’ve given you is the cure. ❞ david speaks the word close, the solution on the fringes of a shark’s maw. his free hand snakes now, curling around the slope of michael’s neck. fingers stroke the fine hairs there, the words intimate, dripping with the taste of forbidden fruit. ❝ the cure to sickness, the cure to death. ❞ just as quickly as he’s grown close, he pulls away, turning on the bulk of his heels and waving a hand in the air. ❝ you want out? then go. ❞
head cants, blistering brightness casting a look over the shape of his own shoulder. ❝ you want your choice, michael? there it is. ❞ a beat, then: ❝ or … ❞ he halts, offering a sliver of himself again, the boy never given a chance, dangling another over the ledge. ❝ close the curtains on this little drama. ❞ an ultimatum, hinging on a falsity. no matter how far he runs, how many oceans he crosses, david will always be there, in his veins, in his mind, in his sweet, dead heart. ❝ be with me. with us. ❞ allow yourself to be truly healed.
the choice is given easy. the decision, not as much. michael wanted nothing more than to go home, back to his mother and his brother, back to a normal life as a new kid in a new place. starting over... this isn’t how it was supposed to be. and now regardless of how desperately he wanted his old life back, they both knew there was nothing for him to go back to, too dangerous to even see lucy or sam, let along be there with them. david, this place, the lost boys — it’s all he has, now. the man that now cradled his neck was far too aware of that fact, even as he gave michael the impossible choice he claimed he wanted. he misses david’s touch immediately, frustration etched into his features at that realization, michael watching the other walk away with a furrowed brow.
what would he give to see what david was like before his heart died. sometimes michael thinks he catches small glimpses, beats of a boy who once had a life and a family. it’s never something they talk about ( but now he had an eternity and more to find out ). as the cliche goes, the silence that follows is deafening, only the ocean waves crashing along the rocks outside breaking up the quiet. be with me. he makes it sound easy, like this is the perfect world. eyes downcast to the stone floor. ‘ you don’t understand and you never will, ’ finally words escape from michael’s lips, defeated hand reaching for a decorated bottle to take a drink from. red liquid touches his tongue. it slinks down his throat, sweet and thick. the taste of despair.

pagesfrayed , helena.
“not ⸻ necessarily a bad thing.” ( far be it for her to ever garner any looks like that. ) not since moving to santa carla, anyway. it’s hard to be a sore thumb amongst a sea of people all cut from the same cloth, but she can’t say the same for michael. you’d have to be blind to miss those eyes or the riotous way his curls hold the salty sea air, like he was made for it, like there had always been a michael - shaped piece of california just waiting for him to fall into. ( and now, for whatever fateful reason, here he is ⸻ and choosing helena to hang out with, no less. ) “ignore all you’d like but i think that girl at the funnel cake stand is making eyes at you.” said with a jut of her chin towards the aforementioned ; a blonde girl who looks as though she’s been pulled straight out of a swimsuit commercial. “you know what they say about funnel cake, mike? it’s delicious and we should get some.”
eyes move nonchalantly to the girl she talks about, and sure enough, their glances meet with a smile on her end. as polite of a boy as he is ( lucy emerson didn’t raise no fool ), michael gives a small grin her way before turning so that his elbows were laid against the railing, hands clasped together as head rolled to squint up at helena against the bright sun. he should want to talk to girls at funnel cake stands at his age. instead, he finds himself worrying about his mother and brother, desperate to find a job and help support the family that his father left behind. his smile only grows when helena speaks. ‘ should we wait until she leaves or do you think i have a chance of going over there without her talking to me? ’ light chuckle is given before he’s standing, pulling his shades back down before laying an arm over helena’s shoulders. ‘ c’mon, we’ll get one. then you can show me what else you like about this place, ’

‘ you were a cheerleader? ’ high school seemed like such a long time ago. perhaps michael has grown somewhat bitter in his new state of being, and so his tone comes off as condescending at best. leather clad arms cross over his chest, earring swinging slightly with the movement of tilting his head. ‘ i can tell, ’ @killsbois.

the aftermath has left the emersons floundering, having to put their grandpa’s house back together from the ground up. if nothing else, it’s brought them closer as a family, even closer than before. meeting up with star and laddie, michael suddenly realized that they weren’t the only ones effected. the lost boys were dead — where were these two supposed to go now? ‘ i guess i never really asked if you had a family before all this, ’ he hadn’t gotten to know her at all, really. hadn’t had the time before michael was thrown into an undead nightmare. crystal eyes move up to hers, sincere and earnest. ‘ do you... have somewhere to go? ’ @neverafters.

‘ is that real...? ’ pushing shades into brown curls, michael raises a brow down at her calf, finger pointing at the dragon tattoo clearly there, shown to the world, in black ink. it was probably a stupid question, but they were still young — he hadn’t met many his age with anything permanent like that ; only stick and peel, or at least smaller tattoos that you could easily hide. ‘ it’s cool. my mom would flip if i ever got a tattoo, ’ @vanshng.
