The California Condor has a distinct wing pattern across its wings that can measure nearly 10 feet across. In the 1980s their CA population fell to just 22 birds. Beautiful in flight as they soar slowly and stably. The CA Condor dominates other scavengers and it is the largest bird in all of North America. Our REI Outdoor Adventure was able to view Condors from 2 different locations inside the National Park. #condor #nationalpark #canon ##sky #largebirds #birds (at Pinnacles National Park)

Pinnacles National Park has more than 30 miles of trails. The one that I was on yesterday went from the grasslands into an uphill climb. From our stopping point near the top I was able to capture this image from our position to the nearby mountain ridge. Our tour was part of a REI Outdoor tour. #sky #canon #outdoors #mountainclimbing #cloudscape #trees (at Pinnacles National Park)

In photography there are many, many way to express sunset. The very expressive sunset with the orange glowing sky is very popular. Here I wanted to stress the more subtle side of of a local sunset. #canon #sunset #flowers ##fields (at Woodland, California)

Alvin Langdon Coburn first used the term "abstract photography" in 1916 to suggest work that "emphasizes form and structure underlying the image." He is considered the first photographer to consciously create an "abstract" photograph. Many of his photographs highlighted form and structure without revealing identity. I would like to think that this photograph would please Mr. Coburn's insight of being the first "abstract nature photographer." #naturephotography #canon #abstractphotography #photography #nature_shooters (at Effie Yeaw Nature Center)

Just beyond Knights Landing I stopped to photograph this scene. Here in NorCal we are fortunate to have had some rain this month making our local farmers most happy. #lightstreaks #sunset #bridges #silo #canals #radioantena #night #nightphotography #canon #tripod (at Knights Landing, California)

Here in Northern California we have experienced several sunny days with temperatures in the 70s. After some good rainy days last month, our grass is once again green. And now tree blossoms are beginning to pop all around us. Do I dare say that "Spring is in the Air?" #photo. #canon #spring #blossoms #bluesky #greengrass #trees (at Effie Yeaw Nature Center)

The Common Starling is also known as the European Starling. What I did not know is that they are often kept as pets. Konrad Lorenz wrote of them in his book King's Solomon's Ring as "the poor man's dog" and "something to love." Maybe even to love on St Valentine's Day. #photo #europeanstarling #commonstarling #canon #valentineday #smallbirds #passerinebird (at Effie Yeaw Nature Center)

Here a single Snow Goose prepares to land at the Colusa National Wildlife Refuge just North of Sacramento, CA. Sad news from 2015 when over 2,000 Snow Geese were killed in northern Idaho from from an avian cholera epidemic during their Spring migration to Northern Canada. #photo #snowgoose #canon_photos #colusanationalwildliferefuge #waterfowl (at Colusa National Wildlife Refuge)

The Snow Goose has been described as "covering the water in a snowy blanket as they eat their way across the wetlands." Such was the Augustine exactly when I last visited the Colusa National Wildlife Refuge about 1.5 hours North of Sacramento, CA along Interstate 5. The good news is that Snow Geese have skyrocketed in numbers and are now among the most abundant waterfowl on the continent. #photo #snowgoose #nationalwildliferefuge #waterfowl #wildlife #teamcanon #canoncamera (at Colusa National Wildlife Refuge)
