Sooo this is extraordinarily late.

I was part of the @capreversebb that happened earlier this year. I don’t often draw fanart but it’s usually very different from my original art, because it’s more self-indulgent. This isn’t backhanded; one of fanart’s best qualities in my opinion is how freeing it is in that it facilitates pressure-free artistic expression. I don’t often participate in Big Bangs or other creative fandom endeavours either, but it’s always a very positive experience.

Summary: Wong is not one for physical displays of affection. In fact, he literally recoils from any kind of physical contact. Stephen just thinks Wong hates physical touch and really, he's fine with it. He loves and respects Wong and wants him to be happy and comfortable in their relationship. Even if it means he's just a little bit touch starved. And it definitely doesn't break his heart, just a little, when his boyfriend flinches away from his touch.

Wong, due to his upbringing and severe haphephobia, is very much touch-adverse, very much outside of his comfort zone and handles it like the mature adult he is: by ignoring it completely, hiding his anxiety, autism, and never talking about it. Until, of course, Stephen confronts him, they get into a fight, and everything comes crashing down around Wong -- including the walls keeping Stephen out of his heart.

5 times Wong flinched away and 1 time he didn't.

[tl;dr: touch-averse autistic man falls in love with a touch-starved man. it almost destroys their relationship until they go to therapy and figure it out]

“Listen, I've gotta – catch a plane. I have a campaign fundraiser. It's so stupid."

Bucky has learned that if Sam wants him to stay, then Sam will ask, which is why he plays down the fundraiser he has to be at; why he says it's stupid. He wants to open up the conversation for Sam to ask him to stay. He wants to stay with Sam, but he has learned not to insert himself into Sam's life like that anymore. He has learned that Sam will ask if he needs him. Hell, Sam didn't even call him to come when Joaquín was hurt. But Sam never asks anyone for that type of support. He never lets that vulnerability shine through. He would never ask that of others, especially those he cares about. He would not share that burden. He thinks he can carry the weight of his responsibility and his guilt on his own. And maybe he can, but he doesn't realise that he doesn't have to. Not anymore. So Bucky lets him know that his own stuff is 'stupid'. He lets Sam know he has to catch a plane. That he has to go. That he doesn't want to. That it's trivial to him.

And he leaves it up to Sam to say, "Please, Buck. Don't go. I need you. Please stay."

But Sam would never ask anyone he cares about to drop everything for him. Sam doesn't want to put that weight on someone else. He just doesn't realise that Bucky would happily carry Sam and everything that is weighing him down, all Sam has to do is ask.
