My first internet discussion yay! I’m so excited, I’ve never done this before. 

First off, My rankings are solely based off where the characters are in season 2 (the first one) and season 3 (the last one). 

Now on to my opinions:

Aisha: first off she is ranked 4 above Tory who is at 7. I put her above Hawk and Demetri because I like her and she is gone in season 3 and that makes me sad. She did not get to fight very many main characters, so I didn’t have much to work off of. She could be lower but she deserves a good ranking.

Tory: At Coyote Creek Hawk and Miguel (and Stingray) are the last ones left, so Tory lost to an extra, Aisha (unlikely because of their interaction after getting out), or Hawk. That’s why I put her below Hawk. I’ll admit she could be above Hawk or Demetri in season 3 or 4, but she hasn’t beat them onscreen yet so I cant say for sure.

Robby: he is ranked 2 for season 2 and isn’t on the season 3 rankings because I don't know where to put him. You can decide that for yourself.

Finally, I just want to reiterate that the writers decide how strong a character is when writing a scene. They do whatever they want and we just have to deal with it. At the end of the day Bert could win the tournament if they wanted him to. I am not the arbiter of power levels and next season I’ll need to do a whole different ranking that may not be accurate to what you think it should be. I just had fun making this ranking in my head and wanted to share.

Cobra Kai Power Levels:

If we measure power levels at the end of season 2 we can establish a baseline. If we assume that the lead of a dojo is the strongest member, then the power levels should be like this.

This ranking makes sense on how the final fight and Coyote Creek went. Season 3 is where the problems happen. Firstly, Aisha is gone! Bruh! wtf! Suddenly the Cobra Kai rankings are broken: it changed the rankings to

(Robby is not included because he was also “lost” in the school fight to juvie)

With Miguel out of the game, Cobra Kai loses two top players in one fight! And Tory and Hawk were legit 6 and 7 in the last ranking! However they need to be a credible threat to the Miyagi-do’s for the show to exist, so Hawk moves up by beating Demetri.

However this may not be accurate since the male and female characters have never fought, I simply can’t say where Tory should rank on this list because she hasn’t fought Demetri and has never had a resounding win against Sam. I would expect (and I personally want)  her to rank either one above or one below Sam like all the other rivals, but working off my season 2 ranking this is where she is. 

Now the reintroduction and introduction of characters. First Miguel and Kylar:

I am working off the assumption that being paralyzed and having to relearn how to walk/karate while every other character gets better at karate would put him at the bottom except for him beating Kylar at the end of the season. 

Finally Robby! No idea! he could literally be anywhere on this list! He’ll probably be number 2 to keep cobra kai a threat just like what happened to hawk start of season 3, but I can’t say for sure. He did not fight any other students in season 3 and his time away from karate/experiences in juvie could help or harm his abilities, but I cannot in good faith put him on this list. 

This ranking can and will change next season, and as we have seen power levels change as the writers need them to. However a tournament means we will have many of the fights I would need to make the ranking as accurate as possible to what they have shown, namely fights between male and female characters! god damn let them fight!

Miguel and His Best Friend Hawk: Part 3

Robby was that student who cheated off of his classmates but forgot that each test was randomized to prevent people from cheating, so he failed every single test anyway

Cobra Kai never would've, like, been a thing if it wasn't for Miguel's "I'm not a quitter" mindset because as soon as Johnny experienced [admittedly a series of] setbacks, he practically threw in the towel.

He was ready to walk when his old-school method of advertising didn't work out the way he'd hoped it would, and it was Miguel showing him the time he'd spent building a Cobra Kai website (time he'd spent trying to ensure that Johnny's dream remained a reality) that made Johnny realize he could do it. He could run his own dojo.

And it reminds me of Daniel's bullheadedness in TKK3, when he forfeited his opportunity to go to college so he could open up a bonsai shop for Miyagi. Putting all his savings, time, and energy into ensuring that this man he cared for, this man he thought of as a father, remained happy.
