That is a very good way of explaining it.

Why did mephone become unable to function after seeing painty's drawing of cobs? It's clear that he spent many years without his memories, so why shut down n o w because of not having them?

Something you must always remember about MePhone4 is that he’s a machine very similar to a computer. By removing his memories, he essentially destroyed the memory files that contained Cobs… but not his feelings. 

Skip forward to Ep 12 when he’s introduced to the painting of Cobs, it prompts MePhone4 to recall negative feelings of discomfort and sadness about an image he doesn’t recognize… because he has no memory of it. In an attempt to recall his memory, MePhone4 then searched for the specific files but found nothing, resulting in his software crashing and requesting that the memories be restored to reboot his system.

Again, think of MePhone4 more like a computer. If you ask your computer to do a command, but you previously deleted the materials the computer needed for the command, your computer will be really confused and messed up.

Yeah, I don’t agree with what Taylor said about Cobs not being abusive. But that doesn’t mean he deserves hate. And people need to stop attacking Cobs fans JUST for liking Cobs. If they’re defending his actions and acting like he’s innocent then that is where they need to be told that it isn’t okay, WITHOUT straight up harassing/threatening them/etc.. But there’s literally nothing wrong with someone liking Cobs just for liking him. I wish this fandom would chill, I really do, but there’s most likely a chance this war will continue, which is a real shame. I feel bad for Taylor, I hope he’s doing alright.

What happened with taylor?

I believe someone asked him if Cobs was abusive and he said no, which, of course, sparked a fire. Personally, I believe Cobs was truly abusive. Taylor, I believe, was wrong in what he said. That being said, Taylor doesn’t deserve the threats and the hat.

We as a community need to be kinder. Because Taylor is looked up to, any small mistake he makes will be broadcast and treated as the MOST HORRIBLE THING. Was what he said bad? Uh, duh. But does he deserve to IMMEDIATELY be hated on, to the point where he had to CLOSE UP AMAs? No. No he didn’t!

We just gotta chill as a group, honestly.

I just find it hypocritical how most people in this fandom treat him like he’s Satan yet they let other cruel villains get away with bad deeds. They just assume I am an abuser when I haven't done ANY of that. I am definitely NOT like the character I love. I am aware that his actions are bad and that he's an abuser but I just like him as a villain. I would never condone his actions or do anything he did! Hell, those Cobs fans could be abuse victims their-selves, we never know because we don’t know their lives! Those MePhone4 kinners don’t know those people and what has happened in their lives! So they (the MePhone4 kinners) can’t assume that, just like I can’t assume anything about their lives. It’s all just...fucked up.

we have to forgive and forget. holding onto grudges and not bothering to try and make amends will only divide the community further. i can’t stand by and watch the fandom i grew up in get torn to pieces over shit that shouldn’t be an issue. let’s not be toxic anymore. let’s not fight anymore. in order to move on, we have to act like adults and handle things properly. otherwise, everyone gets harmed in the end

it’s okay to be wrong. it’s okay to accept fault. it’s okay to over-react, as long as you realize what you did was bad and you try to make amends. we all owe Taylor a huge apology for the shit we did to him

is Cobs meant to parallel an abusive father? A lot of people do not like him because of that.

When writing Cobs, we definitely wanted to write him as kind of a fatherlike figure since he’s a creator. But would I say he’s abusive? 

Absolutely not. 

Cobs is meant to be a person of very high standards, and those who don’t meet his standards are no longer important to him, so he moves on to create something that is. Is this a positive trait? No, not really. But by no means is it even close to “abusive”.

His relationship with MePhone4 is deeply flawed, but to compare it to an abusive relationship is so adverse. Many of you are very very quick to jump to conclusions. This is a very typical case of negative groupthink, or in this case, negative “communitythink”. One ill-minded person states “guys he’s abusive” and everyone going “okay yeah I agree” and jumping on the bandwagon without a second thought. It’s ungodly toxic since negative messages spread MUCH faster than positive, so once a small group starts talking about it, the whole community does, even though it’s just plain wrong, and frankly, really saddening.
