I know that not everyone does it, but it kinda bothers me that when one of them is drawn butch and one of them is drawn femme, it's always Ankarna that's butch. Why is that? Is it because she's wearing pants? Is it because rage is "masculine"? Is it because she's taller?

I don't see Ankarna as butch, nor do I see her as necessarily femme. It really feels like a "who's the man in the relationship?" situation, and I find that really odd.

While I'm here, let's talk about Cassandra a bit. Now, don't get me wrong, I love all the art of Cassandra in dresses, I think they look beautiful, and dresses aren't inherently feminine, but I feel like fandom interpretation of Cassandra is very feminine overall. Cassandra's regular clothes are a tie-dye t-shirt and shorts, yet you almost never see her in it.

Before I get into my final point, I want to mention that I, Spleenwort Spinoodle, am afab nonbinary. I need to mention that because I know some people will get on my ass about this if I don't.

Cassandra is canonically nonbinary, and yet it seems for the most part that the fandom treats them as a woman. Nonbinary people can be feminine, but I feel like Cassandra's identity is being ignored in favor of making them the dainty, soft, feminine one in the relationship.

Now, I'm not saying that you need to make Ankarna more feminine or that you need to make Cassandra more masculine. I just wanted to bring up something that I noticed that bothered me. This isn't a callout or anything, this is just food for thought. If you want to draw butch Ankarna and femme Cassandra, that's your prerogative. If you want to draw femme Ankarna and butch Cassandra, go for it. If you want to draw them both butch or both femme, that's awesome. And if you want to draw them both somewhere in the middle, then you're just like me.

I have yet to see anyone talking about Wealwell's playing card moment in episode 2--and look, I know it was a bit, okay? But it's Dimension 20, where bits are virtually indistinguishable from serious canon, and the only two things Wealwell has done to affect the plot so far are:

Tell the successful lie that gets them access to the ship

Throw a playing card with such prodigious finesse that he explodes a steampunk plane.

I'm just saying I think it'd be so funny if he continues to be pathetic and wildly competent in equal measure.
