One of the bigger missteps in new Trek was when they introduced a cool Romulan warrior swordguy as a new regular character and everyone liked him. He was elfin Worf. Star Trek Legolas. He could've been an iconic new character. Then he spent most of the second season as a corpse & the final season accidentally implied he exploded off-screen bc the producer forgot he existed and casually blew up the ship he was on

Anyway this is my half of an art trade with @red-cicada !!! These are his OCs, Ángel and To’Mal, and it was so fun to draw them!! Give a man a healthy ship and he’ll eat for a day, give a man a couple who kind of hate each other and he’ll eat for a year!

It was really nice to get back to that sickly overwhelmingly green look. I was using a lot of green back when I was working on concept art for Circuit, but now that project is sooooo far on the back burner it’s practically outside the kitchen lol.

One of my favorite thing I’ve learned about animals studies is that you should avoid using colorful leg bands when you’re banding birds because you can accidentally completely skew the data because female birds prefer males with colorful bands

Apparently if you put a red band on a male red wing blackbird his harem size can double

So like you can completely frick up the natural reproduction of a group of birds by giving a guy a bracelet so stylish that females CANNOT resist him

The funniest part of the “ummmm actually ☝️🤓 birth control can be REALLY bad for you” responses on my ‘hey I think the current health fad demonization of hormonal birth control is right wing propaganda’ post is that I can’t take hormonal birth control. It reacts badly with my body’s chemistry. But I am wise enough to understand that it is a lifesaving medication for many people and encouraging people to get off birth control if it is working for them with no adverse reactions is bad. Birth control is bad for me and it can have terrible side effects but the potential of pregnancy and periods are worse for many people.
