So last week I spoke to my manager about how my colleague (let's call her Y) did the bare minimum when she and I were on duty last July 1 (it was a public holiday but we need to work on a skeletal team since it's BAU). He told me last Wednesday that he brought this to her attention, and this is how it basically went:
She was on her phone while there were 20+ tickets on queue, scrolling though IG like... girl we have a lot of clients with inquiries CAN YOU PLEASE LOCK TF IN???
She justified her lack of urgency to respond to inquiries as "you know I am not the fastest in the team."
Our manager pointed to her that she signed up for this job and she still tried to defend herself by saying that I didn't tell her that she needed to take more cases. GIRL ARE YOU A FUCKING INTERN WHY DO I NEED TO TELL YOU WHAT TO DO???
So my manager who was pissed as fuck told her that she needs to do some serious improvements or he will ask her to just resign. What I didn't know that he didn't even plan to pass Miss Y after her EXTENDED PROBATION because she's really just not in tuned with the job nature. She just got regularized because she had a break down in front of him and HR and told them that she's having a hard time because of family issues.
Here's the thing: I can empathize. Yes, life is hard, and sometimes when it rains it fucking pours. HOWEVER, until when can you use the "I have family issues that's why I can't do my job properly" card??? I have family issues too but I can't afford to take a long ass break from working since I have bills to pay.
Miss Y needs to get her head in the game or else she'll have an even bigger problem if she loses her job. She's already 24 years old; she should set her priorities straight and compartmentalize.
