Probably shouldn't post this on the main blog, but hey, we all have that "character waking up as abandoned laboratory experiment" phase right
What an awful trope.

You awake someplace dark, cold, and damp, the air mold-heavy. Everything feels… wrong.
You feel wrong. You clear the rot of uneasy dreams from your head and roll off of a hard, broken floor.
You stand. You look.
——
Just entertaining a “what if?”.

It’s the beginning of a new act with @children-of-everfree, and with a change in cast comes a change of avatar. I like how this turned out.

For the record, I hope Fluttershy is okay, too.
This is so adorable! I’m reminded of the large spider I saw creepin’ along my bathroom ceiling as I was going to bed last night -- he wasn’t harming anyone, so I left him alone. :D
At any rate, thank you for drawing this! Her legs definitely are a little weird to work with but you did a great job with them!
OKAY SO DRAWING SPINDLY LITTLE LEGS IS HARD, GUYS
I blame @couchcrusader for making me like spiderpones. darn you. what I wouldn’t give for one of these cuties to snuggle with.

A little tribute of SpiderShy from the animated askblog/comic "Children of Everfree". -- SilverHopeXII
Awwww! Silver, this is wonderful! You did a great job of capturing Fluttershy’s floof, and I love the way you do eyes, too!
Cute lil’ fangs as well. Thank you so much for this amazing gift!

Is it possible to tire of spiderponies? ... nawwwwwww.
I definitely made out like a bandit at Everfree Northwest this year and I’m so grateful to the artists in the vendor’s hall for taking my commission requests on! In order:
A little Fluttershyder done by @hollulu-art, who has an adorable mothpony OC of her own. My awareness of the bugpony fan circle expands.
Fluttershyder #2 from @onnanokoart! Predictably, the scanner blew the colors to heck, but ‘Shy has hardly ever looked so soft before :D
I don’t think Tony Fleecs has a tumblr, but if he did this is clearly what he’d want new visitors to see first. I wound up having to open commissions of my own on Sunday because I overdrew on my con budget with this, hahaa. Something cool to note is that he’d previously illustrated spiders for the Tales of Equestria tabletop RPG, so it looks like that experience came in handy here!
And finally, @silfoearts scratched that long-standing itch of mine to see Princess Celestia done up as an armored peacock spider, because of course, right? You can’t argue with that.

Here are the three requests I took on for @viwrastupr‘s fundraising stream today!
1. @ariaxvespid‘s characters, Vespid and Aria, taking a moment together. Thanks to @askvigilantwatch for your donation!
2. Snekinabox’s had me do Dank Nugs up as a snakepony! Go ahead, lick one of those spots.
3. And finally, Carapace asked for their pegasus Sure Stroke as a quetzalcoatl! Hey, this was pretty fun to draw!
All in all, I was able to raise $655 for Viw and Jenn thanks to your generosity. Thanks to everyone who came by the streams to keep me company!

It’s cool, all she wants to do is lie on your tummy and snug a little. You’d be down for that, right?
(Oh my gosh, this is just wonderful, thank you Dil, how in the world am I blessed enough to get four sketches of her from you)

I drew Fluttershyder in a recent stream, check out this cutie in her own comic right here:

I fucking hate spiders Isn’t she adorable?

Something that gets me real jealous is @pseudocitrus and her Moleskine notebooks -- she uses them to jot down daily observations and story drabbles, and often throws in the occasional watercolor sketch (!) as well. It’s exactly like a field journal and I’ve wanted to do something like hers for the longest time.
I’ve had this notebook for a few months to help me plan out Children of Everfree updates, and let’s be honest. It’s a great feeling busting this out to show to other people. So at the behest of some folks who’ve seen this IRL, here are a few pages, starting with the nucleus of a reference sheet for Fluttershy.
Don’t take any of this stuff as declarative canon; this is by and large a notebook I use for fun and exploration above all else. But otherwise -- I suppose this is the kind of thing I wanted to post on the Codex in the first place :D

One of the problems with running this blog is that I have to choose what I show and what I leave up to the imagination. Remember that one guard the shadow sent flying in this update?
MrQuartz refused to be satisfied with current affairs. I accept events in this link as canon.
Do click it, it’s animated.

There are no biggest bottles popping off until I get that job offer in my inbox... but disregarding all that, this was an incredibly kind gesture by @taurson and I’m really grateful for the support.
She’s so tiny... I wanna hold her in my hand and pet her.
A few days ago or so, I heard that @couchcrusader was a bit worried about an interview he was having so I wanted to make something for him after he was done with that interview as a congrats ^^

Hey, here’s what this blog is actually supposed to be used for, isn’t it.
What made you want to start CoE?
I saved this question for last thinking I was going to have a really nice, thought-out reflection on where I’ve come the past two years.
The short version is that I’ve always enjoyed the idea of telling a story involving species swaps, and Fluttershyder just happened to be on the mind in late 2014. It was a transformational moment when I caught myself thinking “Man, why can’t I draw a story with her? … holy crap, what is literally stopping me from trying to?”
I had a lot of free time as a result of being unemployed, and I went into CoE telling myself not to worry about drawing “on model” because doing so would keep me from exploring ways to improve my drawing. So if you’re out there somewhere, with a story in your head but uncertain of whether you can do it well enough, well, I have a secret for you:
You’re not ready.
I wasn’t. And I never will be.
And I used that. My starting date suddenly changed from two-years-off to right that very moment, because I discarded all requirements of where I needed to be before I began. It might be counter-intuitive, and *results not guaranteed, but anything I’ve drawn since then is infinitely better than having never done them at all.
