Oh geez. My first fic for the Zane/Heath pairing. I had so much fun writing this thing. It went through a hundred edits, but none of them for grammar or syntax lmao. This quick fic ended up being 3500+ words because I just kept adding to it. It’s VERY loosely based off of this video. So maybe it’s kinda a AU bc of that.

Louise the yellow lab was, and had always been, Zane’s girl. They’d locked eyes in the shelter and it had been love at first sight. She followed him everywhere, rode shotgun in the car, and she was at his feet in the bed, every single night. She obeyed him to a T, and had impressed all of their friends and family with the tricks he’d taught her, learning fast so Daddy would be proud.

It wasn’t that she didn’t like Heath- she did. He was a member of the household and provided food and walkies and she coexisted with him just fine. But he wasn’t Zane.

But then, things started to change.
