Master by Carlos Torano – Cigar Review
Today I am going to review Master by Carlos Torano. I have tasted this cigar 5 years ago. My friend gifted a box of Master along with a Xikar Miyan Cigar cutter (one of the best cigar cutter and my favorite).
Cigar: Master Company: Torano Family Cigars Wrapper: Ecuadorian Habano Binder: Nicaraguan (Estelí) Filler: Nicaraguan (Estelí and Jalapa) Made In: ? Size: 5×50 Robusto Price: About $6 depending on your local taxes
Appearance & Construction: The Master by Carlos Torano is your average looking cigar and quite nondescript. The nice looking chocolate brown colored Ecuadorian Habano wrapper has a few medium sized veins and some slightly darker areas. The feel of the cigar is normal and has no soft or hard spots. The band is very plain looking but at the end of the day, looks don’t hold much water when it comes to cigars.
Smoking Characteristics: The Master by Carlos Torano has a nice medium draw, not too loose but not too tight. The burn is a little uneven at times but quickly fixes itself as I smoke. The ash for the most part is solid and compact.
Flavor: The Master by Carlos Torano starts out with a nice complex array of wood, spice, coffee and a fruity sweetness. The flavors are well balanced and very complex. They engulf your palate and make your mouth water, which is a sign of a perfectly balanced cigar. The second third picks up some leathery notes and some bitter cacao, however the cacao fades before the final third. In the final third, some earthiness becomes very prevalent but the complexities are still there. The body of the Master is quite deceiving. Although the flavors are smooth and balanced, the texture on the palate is pretty thick and heavy and builds as you smoke the cigar. I would say this cigar starts out medium and builds to full as you smoke it.
Final Thoughts: Well folks, Torano Cigars has a grand slam here with the Master. A cigar that is this complex and this well balanced will surely please cigar passionado’s out there. For those of you who like the new El Triunfador and My Father, but want a little more body and richness, this is your cigar.

Alec Bradley Vice Press 6T4 – Cigar Review
Wrapper: Nicaraguan Binder: Costa Rican Filler: Honduran, Nicaraguan, Mexican Made In: Honduras Size: 6T4, 6×64 Price: About $7-$8 per single cigar
Appearance & Construction: The Alec Bradley Vice Press 6T4 is a dark slug of a cigar. The dark brown wrapper has only a few smaller sized veins and is silky smooth to the touch. The cigar has a good box press to it, not too sharp and not too dull. The construction of the cigar seems very good as there are no hard or soft spots and the roll is tight and even.
Smoking Characteristics: The draw on the Alec Bradley Vice Press is difficult to explain. It is very smooth and free, however the extremely large ring gauge of this cigar makes it a chore to do so. The burn is uneven and is blistering at the burn line. The ash is solid and compact and holds a really nice ash.
Flavor: The first third of the Alec Bradley Vice Press was filled with a nice notes of earth, coffee, and some semi sweet chocolate. As we progress through the second third the body creeps slowly into the medium to full realm of things. By the final third I would say this cigar is full bodied. The flavors of the cigar didn’t change that much throughout the cigar and generally remained the same coffee, earthy notes.
Final Thoughts: The Alec Bradley Vice Press 6T4 is a very good cigar with nice rich flavors and a decent amount of complexity. However, I don’t know if I’ll be going for more of these in the future because of the massive ring gauge. As most of you Fire Up That Cigar readers know, I prefer cigars no more than 52 ring gauge. But it isn’t necessarily that I think they taste bad, it’s just uncomfortable to smoke. My jaw was aching after this cigar and that is not a desirable feeling to have after smoking a cigar.
Cigar Rating: Average/ Good

Humidor

Do you love a good cigar as much as I do? Well, then you know the most important thing to keeping your prized smokes perfect is your best cigar humidor. It is not a simple thing really, buying a humidor. They come in various sizes, shapes and features. You may choose a humidor for home or if you are frequent traveler, you should choose the best travel humidor.
So what makes a great humidor?
Who cares right, lets just get to the smokes. Break out a Kristoff or a Aaturo Fuente 60 cage and light it up! Hold up there cowboy, that stick is a bit dry and crusty is it. Did you put a match to it and it just about burn to you fingers in a instant? I think that humidor might be a bit dry and all your lovely cigars ruined dude.
Humidors are very important when it comes to cigars and being a good tobacconist. Cutters cut the sticks, punches and scissors maim, lighters burn them and friends take them. Seems like nothing and no one is your cigars friend, well say hello to Mr. Humidor.
Cozy Spanish Cedar lined your humidor is the home away from the factory home of your prized collection of tasty and satisfying lovelies. With a quality hygrometer your little tobacco vault will keep your treasure at that perfect humidity.
How do you keep that environment just like the Garden of Eden for your Predomos or Aston's? Do you use purified water or that new stuff propylene glycol. Propy-WHO? Glycol what? Ready to use, do not dilute.
I just read the label on that stuff - SHAKE WELL? Really I didn't know that till just now. It bubbled up, I went straight away and put some in my humidor.
I have special rain water flown in from Costa Rica. Really? No, but I bet someone else does! I have heard all kinds of crazy things about humidors. Just use a shoebox, really for a $5.00 stick I plan to age for months. I don't think so. I want a cool and classy piece of fine furniture to keep my smokes in.
Furniture, did I say, yes I did. My humidor sits on top of my prized classic 15 inch woofer stereo speaker. There is of course the friend-dor. It holds those special sticks a I keep for friends when they come over, wink. In the bottom of the closet is the secret stash otherwise known as the cooler-dor.
Hand crafted or Igloo there is only one key to humidors you really have to know. Regularly, walk over check the hygrometer and then pull out a fine stick stroll out to the patio. Sit back and light up while drinking your favorite drink and enjoying the company of family or friends.
A humidor does not just hold and care for cigars. It is a treasure chest of flavor and holder of a prized collection. Humidors lead to great times with great people and attract the sophisticated and educated. Churchill and George Burns enjoyed the finest smokes. Hitchcock and JFK each had their favorite stick to pull out and burn down. So where did they keep their delicious Toro?
The most famous of all besides Churchill for me is the Man with No Name. Yes, I know you just heard it in your head Whah whah. Was he the good, the bad or the ugly? Yes, the good just like a good cigar. Notice his are very a unique and special cigar, just like the man himself.
