Ibn Qayyim رحمه الله said:
“Do not lose hope because of the sins you have committed. If your sins distance you from Allah, then you are truly punished. But if your sins humble you and bring you back to Allah, then know that this is a sign of His care for you.”

One of the Salaf said, "Whenever my daily portion of Qur'an would increase,
زادت البركة في وقتي the barakah in my time would increase."

"When the veil has been lifted on the day of judgement revealing the value of good deeds for the people they'll not see any action better in reward than the remembrance of Allah (Dhikr).
At that time a group of people who'll sigh because they missed out and say:
“There was nothing easier for us than dhikr and yet we did not do it”

It was said to Sufyaan Ath-Thawree:
"I am amazed at Imam Abu Hanifah! I have never even seen him backbite his enemies!"
So Sufyaan ath-Thawree replied: "He knows better than to let someone run away with all his good deeds!"

وكمْ من زلةٍ ليِ في الخَطَايا وأنتَّ عليَّ ذو فضلٍ ومَنَّ
How many slips into sin I have made, yet You are, towards me, full of bounty and favour.
يَظُنّ النَّاسُ بي خَيرًا وإِنِّي لشَرُ النَّاس إنْ لمْ تَعفُ عنِّي.
People assume good of me, but I am the worst of people if You do not pardon me.

Ibraheem (alayhi salam) said (calling out to Allah):
“Our Lord, show us our rites.”
Then Jibreel (alayhi salam) took him by the hand and he went with him until he brought him to The House (the Ka’bah)
Jibreel (alayhi salam) said: Raise the foundation (of the House).
Ibraheem raised a foundation until he completed building it.
Then he (Jibril) took him to as-Safa and said: “This is one of the symbols of Allah”.
Then he took him to al-Marwah and said: “This is one of the symbols of Allah”.
Then he took him by the hand and went with him towards Mina.
So, behold, it was iblees at al-‘aqabah, by the tree.
Jibreel said (to Ibrahim) to say upon him:
Say the Takbeer (Allahu Akbar i.e., Allah is Great) and pelt (stones) at him! Say the Takbeer and throw at him!
(Ibrahim did so)
iblees went until he arrived at the final Jamrah (of the three Jamrahs).
Jibreel said (to Ibraheem) to say upon him: Recite the Takbeer and pelt stones at him…
(he did so)
Then iblees went away.
… the khabith (malicious, evil iblis) has been wanting to enter into the Hajj rites something (of innovation) but he could not do so (he was prevented).
Then (Jibreel) went with him (Ibrahim) and arrived at the Mash’ar al-Haram (Muzdalifah)
Then he said: This is the al-Mashar al-Haram (the Valley between Muzdalifa and Mina, where pilgrims should make a Du'a after sleeping in Muzdalifah)
Then he went with him until he arrived at (the plains of) ‘Arafah and said:
This, is Arafat.
(And then he asked him): ‘Arafta ma araytuk? (i.e., have you understood what I just showed you?)
Ibrahim replied: “Yes”, three times
Jibreel said: (Now, make a) call to the people for al-Hajj
Ibraheem asked: And how do I call?
He said, Say: “O people! Answer your Lord!” Three times
The people answered: “At your service, Oh Allah. Our Lord, at Your service.” Twice
So whoever answers Ibrahim from that day on from among the creation, then he is a Pilgrim.
[Sunan of Sa’eed Ibn Mansour (rahimahullah), 220]
‘Ata’a Ibn Rabah (rahimahullah) said:
It was termed “Arafat” because Jibreel (alayhi salam) used to show Ibraheem (alayhi salam) the rites (of pilgrimage) and ask: “‘Arafta?” “Arafta?”
“Do you know now?” “Did you understand?”
So it was named “Arafat”.
[Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah (rahimahullah), 14131]

Ibn Rajab (rahimahullah) writes:
Expose yourself to the breezes (blessings) of your Lord during these ten days (of Dhul Hijjah),
for in them are breezes from Allah with which He bestows His blessings upon whom He wills,
and whoever is touched by them will find happiness through them for until the end of time (i.e., the rewards for deeds done therein).
[Lataaif al-Ma'aarif, 274, Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali (rahimahullah)]

O Christ Worshippers! by Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah رحمة الله
O Christ-worshippers! We seek an answer to our question from your wise ones:
If the Lord was murdered by some people’s act, what kind of god is this?
We wonder! Was He pleased by what they did to Him?
If yes, blessed be they, they achieved His pleasure.
But if He was discontented, this means their power had subjugated Him!
Was the whole entity left without a Sustainer, so who answered the prayers?
Were the heavens vacated, when He laid under the ground somewhere?
Were all the worlds left without a God, to manage while His hands were nailed?
Why did not the angels help Him, when they heard Him while He wailed?
How could the rods stand to bear the True Lord when He was fastened?
How could the iron reach Him and have His body pinned?
How could His enemies’ hands reach Him and slap His rear?
And was Christ revived by Himself, or was the Reviver another god?
What a sight it was, a grave that enclosed a god,
Stranger still is the belly that confined Him!
He stayed there for nine months in utter darkness, fed by blood!
Then He got out of the womb as a small baby,
Weak and gasping to be breast-fed!
He ate and drank, and did what that naturally resulted,
Is this what you call a god?
High exalted be Allah above the lies of Christians,
All of them will be held accountable for their libels!
O Cross-worshippers! For what reason is this exalted,
And blame is cast upon those who reject it?
Is it not logical to break and burn it, along with the one who innovated it?
Since the Lord was crucified on it, and His hands were fastened to it?
That is really a cursed cross to carry,
So discard it, do not kiss it!
The Lord was abused on it, and you adore it?
So it is clear that you are one of His enemies!
If you extol it because it carried the Lord of the Worlds,
Why don’t you prostrate yourself and worship graves,
Since the grave contained your god in it?
So Christ-worshippers, open your eyes,
This is what the matter is all about.

Many among the early scholars would caution against excessive socialising unless it served a genuine, practical cause. Imām 'Abdullah al-Humaydī (d.219H) eloquently said:
لقاءُ الناسِ ليس يُفيدُ شيئًا
سوى الهذيانِ من قيلٍ وقالِ
فأقْلِلْ من لقاء الناسِ إلا
لأخْذِ العلمِ أو إصلاحِ حالِ
"Meeting with crowds brings little gain. Filled with tales of wander, idle and vain. So seek not their company, day or night. Unless for knowledge or setting things right."
