kusuo is the only person in the world that kusuke wanted to have the respect of (in his own weird fucked up way) and if he cant ever have it then he would rather die. except kusuo had always respected and even LOVED kusuke as his older brother and kusukes attempts at earning kusuos respect had actually been making him lose it the whole time.

but kusuo still cares about kusuke despite it all and kusuke has to come to terms with the fact that his entire perception of kusuo had been based on the massively incorrect assumption that neither of them were capable of love.

and his assumption is shattered by the realization that kusuo actually truly loves his friends and his family with his whole heart and oh god if kusuo can love then can kusuke love too? has he been experiencing love this whole time?

and then the healing process begins

i had interpreted part of the comedy of that scene being that kuniharu and kusuo had the same exact overreaction to having their coffee jelly stolen, but i like your reading of it

ok actually I wanted to ask since idk if I’m just stupid or something, but in the earlier chapter when Kuniharu mentions he broke all the windows over the stolen coffee jelly, and then later shows Kusuo getting his coffee jelly stolen and immediately re-shattering all the windows- I sort of thought the implication there was that kuniharu had incorrectly assumed he’d shattered all the windows when actually it was Kusuo, who the original desert probably belonged to. Like I see a lot of people say that the joke was that kuniharu overreacted so idk if I just interpreted that scene completely wrong
