Maybe you haven't noticed this:

Before, when Janeway had an idea for a crazy suicide mission, only Chakotay would object, Tuvok rarely took sides, and when he did, it was much more subtle. One day, Chakotay asked Tuvok to back him up if she wanted to do that kind of thing again (I think it was in the episode NIGHT, or the episode after). Apparently he convinced Tom to help him too, because Tom offers to go with her, and watch when he leaves, the look he gives Chakotay as if to say (count on me to protect your girl). THIS IS ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE! When I say that if it weren't for Chakotay, Janeway would be dead, I'm not kidding! He was an excellent first officer, friend, and husband.
