Dark academia decor
-Books everywhere, on tables, in stacks, the floor (make sure to not trip), etc.
-Dark furniture, dark bed frame, dark desk, dark chairs, etc.
-Antiques, the more antiquated, the better. Old mirror, old books, etc.
-Candles, (don't burn the place down though)
-Things on walls. Poetry, passages, pictures of anatomy, postcards, etc. Make it chaotic, yet aesthetic.
-Also make sure to have a certain colour palette. Darker, earthy tones are good. (Emerald green, Beige, brown, black, etc.)
-Have some shelves for books, mugs and such.
-Base the material around wood. Or what looks like wood.
-Arrange your books and organize it.
-Have some skulls and bones around.
-Have mirrors around.
-Trunks are also a good thing.
-Dark curtains are also a must have (Not actually but you know.)
-Have random trinkets on shelves, desks and such like empty perfume bottles, vases with flowers, books, and more.
-Framed things, such as drawings, photos, etc. (Extra points if its gold.) -Record players, vintage typewriters, old cameras and such are good dark academia related things to keep around.
-Instrument (if you play one.)
-White bed sheets go well with dark furnishing.
-Random coffee stains that you accidently spilled but never cared to clean up properly (don't make coffee just to pour it in random places lol.)
-An ash trey (even if you don't smoke, it still looks cool to have one around).
-Scattered papers with black, smeared ink.
-Clothes scattered on chairs and the floor.
Feel free to add more things, I may edit this and add more things over time.

What is dark academia?
Dark academia is an aesthetic that revolves around classic literature, the pursuit of self-discovery, and a general passion for knowledge and learning. It is one of several variations, each with a unique historical focus. Dark Academia's best-known visual variations stem primarily from European cultures.
i-While this aesthetic is not inherently negative, it has come under scrutiny as of late due to its seeming encouragement of classist attitudes (menial work being 'inferior' to mental work) and unhealthy behavior (sacrificing sleep, relationships, mental health, and personal care for study). If you are interested in this aesthetic, please be sure to embrace the positive aspects and be cautious of the potentially harmful ones.
ii-While the aesthetic lends itself to Eurocentrism, let it be known that every culture is welcome, and you are encouraged to find ways to blend your heritage with this aesthetic. Do not feel as if you are not Dark Academic enough because of where you are from.
iii-The Style Guide is first and foremost a guide, not a uniform. Its purpose is to inspire, not hold you back. You should not feel inadequate if you cannot wear everything featured on the list; those are mere suggestions and what you wear is up to you. If you prefer following the aesthetic to a 'T', good for you; if you prefer taking inspiration from it and wearing bits and pieces, that's great too.
iv-There is no place for any type of shaming or bullying within the community. Be it against race, religion, social status, sexuality, education, ability, body type, etc., any form of discrimination is not welcome. The academic community is here for anyone who holds an appreciation for learning.
Variations of this aesthetic consist of-
Art Academia
Chaotic Academia
Classic Academia
Darkest Academia
Fairy Academia
Grey Academia
Light Academia
Pagano-Lovecore
Romantic Academia
Pastel Academia
Theatre Academia
Witchy Academia
Writer Academia
(I personally think my aesthetic is a combination of art academia, chaotic academia, writer academia, and just dark academia!)
Feel free to put more stuff down! This is just some basics and such!

Introduction
Greetings and salutations. Call me Jay or Jayson. I am an account centered on the dark academia aesthetic. More specifically information and tip posts on it. Though I may occasionally post photography. I use he/him pronouns. My dream career is to become a forensic psychologist or a chemist. I wish to go to the University of Edinburgh or Oxford University. My hobbies include reading, gaming, making minecraft videos (shocking I know), studying, drawing, writing, and more. My English also may be lacking as English isn't my first language so forgive me for that. You'll learn more about me as I post so this is it for now. I hope you enjoy my content. Quia nunc vale.
