i genuinely hate how people have to sit and write a post that stands out while boosting a fundraiser because most people won't bat an eye at the misery and inhumane conditions Palestinians are living in.

i see people making art and telling others to use it because fundraisers with art are generally reblogged more often. i see people using colored text in order to make the post more eye catching.

palestinians on instagram are using popular audios and stitch trending reels at the beginning to make the world pay attention to them. imagine having to make something look entertaining in order to survive.

they are living under constant threat of israeli airstrikes, bombing, scarcity of food and disease. many have lost a lot in the past few months.

palestinians on tumblr are posting their pictures and the horrible conditions in which they are living. they travel long distances for internet connection only to be called a scammer by some privileged ass who cannot locate gaza on a map.

Have people collectively forgotten that abusive relationships exist and people have sex within them?? The number of people I’ve seen say “Well of course it was consensual, they were literally in a relationship?” is. Uh. Concerning?

Let’s get some things straight:

Someone’s spouse or partner can absolutely rape them, no matter how long they’ve been together or how loving the relationship or how many other times they have wonderful consensual sex.

Consent is never given by default due to relationship status. That is why we have marital rape laws. It’s completely unethical to force sex on someone you know or are dating or married to.

And because I’ve seen all of these in the last couple of months at different points,

It’s not “less” of a rape if it’s a partner/spouse

It’s not “less” of a rape if the rapist and/or victim is kinky, or if the rape happens during what had been a kink scene

It’s not “less” of a rape if it started as consensual sex

It’s not “less” of a rape if the rapist and victim have had consensual sex before

It’s not “less” of a if the rapist and victim have consensual sex at some point after the rape

It’s not “less” of a rape if it’s a boss or co-worker

It’s not “less” of a rape if it’s a teacher/professor

It’s not “less” of a rape if it’s their landlord

It’s not “less” of a rape if it’s a friend or acquaintance

It’s not “less” of a rape if it’s someone they admired and looked up to

It’s not “less” of a rape if it’s someone famous and the victim was their fan/groupie/ whatever

It’s not “less” of a rape if the person shares your (victim or observer’s) politics or if they’re an ally to your (victim or observer’s) community

It’s not “less” of a rape if the rapist said rape is bad in public or even gave to charities against it

NONE of those things make someone “more entitled” to sex than anyone else, or retroactively renders unwanted sex consensual.

And there is no demographic of people who is incapable of committing rape.

It got taken off spotify a few months ago (it's still on youtube) and now I can't find physical copies of it for sale ANYWHERE and it breaks my heart because that version of so long marianne is the best I've heard.
