Starting to realize I've never belonged anywhere

They say "you're the only one who will be there for yourself at the end of the day", but I've let myself down so much I don't have anyone there for me that matters or I can trust.

A Letter to "You"

To whom it may concern,

I write this a year late, as I know at this point you have just a bitter taste in your mouth towards me. Let me tell you, it's taken me this year to wash the taste out myself. Time mends things, but not sure that's how it works for us at this point. I know we were never lovers, but we loved each other and I cared more for you than anyone I ever have. I only say this stuff to clear the air; don't expect anything to change as it is late in this fallout.

I hold on to the memories we made together, not the bad ones though. I know there are a lot of bad times we had, but I can't remember them, can you? I know you probably do actually, I am the kind of person who buries bad memories and suppresses them. This could be to my favor in some situations, but I feel it more a curse. Back to the point though, do you remember the week we spent together out of state? I moved there now actually and it's amazing, I mean other than the constant reminders everywhere of the past. I remember meeting my niece for the first time with you there. Or when we went to the river and swam multiple times. When we went to the theme park, though I remember I wouldn't go on that roller coaster with you, I know I'm a pansy. I remember over the year and a half we were close friends we had so many great memories. I could go on, but I know you don't want to relive the past.

I think about you constantly and hope you are doing well. I know you are now living your life and cut me out, or we both cut each other out if we're being honest. I had a big play in the falling out I know, but it takes two to tango and it seems as though neither of us were the bigger person and we both just decided to call it quits. I regret that. I have made my mistakes in life, not many are too serious, but losing you is detrimental. I wish I hadn't been so clouded in my judgement. I don't expect you to respond to this, that is if I ever get the courage to let you read this. I know nothing will change between us, I know I wish it would go back, but that's not how life works. It would take a lot of work, which I would be willing to make the effort, but would you? I didn't think so. As I said before I hope you are living a grand life full of happiness.
