My favorite scene

I had a seminar last week where we had the following task: Discribe your favorite movie scene of all time! I liked that excercise, because it made mi think a lot. I have seen plenty of films and I have too much favorites. I started to consider all the films that had a big effect on me. I needed to find the most fascinating role-playings. Finally I chose the most serious scene of Troy.

The main characters of this scene are Hector and Achilles played by Eric Bana and Brad Pitt. The antecedent of this scene is that Hector accidentally killed Achilles’ brother: he thought that he was fighting with Achilles but the brother wore Achilles’ armor so Hector mixed them and killed the wrong man. When Achilles realized that his brother died, he went to Troy to take revenge on Hector. The scene starts from here:

Hector, the prince of Troy knows that Achilles will come and when he arrives, he is on the top of the castle, waiting for his destiny. The Greek warrior gets off his chariot and starts screaming Hectors’ name. His voice is threatening. Hector gets down on the knees in front of his father and asks his forgiveness. The father lets his son away with this: ‘No father ever had a better son.’.  In the background Achilles is still roaring but even louder and aggressive. 

Then Hector goes to say goodbye to his family: first to his brother, Paris, who says with  recognition ‘You’re the best man I know.’. Next he goes to his wife and son. She tries to make him stay but he answers that: ‘Remember what I told you!’. They hug each other and he left; takes on his armor and goes out of the castle.

Achilles is waiting for him outside. Hector bravely steps closer to his opponent and say: ‘I’ve seen this moment in my dreams.’. Achilles takes off his helmet and answers that: ‘Now you know who you’re fighting!’. Hector does the same and the Greek attacks him: the fight begins.

 In my opinion this fatal fight is so dramatic because I do not want neither of them to die. ( I won’t tell which one is going to die!)

My playlist

Music means to me more things at the same time. Mostly it is something that makes me feel more energized. Someday it makes me think. In other cases it helps me to let off steam. Rarely it can make me cry. I can connect a song to every important memory of mine. 

I love singing although I can’t but it doesn’t bother me, neither what do people think about my voice. I need some music every single day! It is a must! 

It’s hard to tell what are my favorite songs of all time because there are a lot. A know almost everything about the music industry. Ok, maybe it is not true but I know a lot of singers, bands, songs, musicals and so on. I am interested in the ‘90th music and of course the latest.

My music taste is complicated because I like everything that is good: good to listen to, good to dance or sing. But particularly I love popular and soul music. If I hear a singer it is important that he/she had a very good voice. I am so critic about that. I know that in some cases the singer does not have a great voice but if the music that he or she plays is catchy than it is ok for me.

I have choosen six songs that I can’t get tired of: The first one is Mine from Taylor Swift. It is a relatively old  love song, my favorite one from Miss Swift.

The second one is Michael Jackson’s Black or White. I am a huge fan of The King of Pop. I don’t think that this song is his number one but I love it just like all the others.

Then the next one is Fancy by Iggy Azalea and Charlie XCX. This is my party song! An absolutely hit!

Airplanes from B.o.B featuring Hayley Williams is also a quite old but a masterpiece.

The last two are from 2017: Havana by Camila Cabello and Perfect by the red haired Ed Sheeran. I know Camila for not so long but I think she becames one of my favorite female singers and this song... I can not say a thing, check it if you haven’t done it yet. Maybe I could have say that I love all the Ed Sheeran music but if a need to pick one than I think his latest hit is PERFECT!

+1: Going through this list I have a feeling of lack. There is a band, I think it is altrenative rock, but I am not sure! In my opinion they are genius. Twenty One Pilots is the one that I don’t want to leave out from my playlist. My favorite songs of them are Heathens and Stressed out.

This list is always changing becuse there are always new comings who are better but that is the way it need to be.

Film or series?

As a university student, I do not have much free time, but if I have some I do the things I like, so I can relax and have fun. Because that is what life is about: having fun!

In my spare time I like reading books, taking a walk with my dogs, spending time with my brothers, watching films or series. I have a list of films that I haven’t seen but I want to and this list is getting longer. At home everyone knows about that list and if there is a Saturday or Sunday we usually watch one of My Films. Sometimes I can not decide what movie to choose.

There are other cases when I only have less an hour to do something then I want to spend this little time useful. For example to shorten my list. But everyone knows that movies are usually longer than one hour and I hate to lay something aside. I don’t know if there is somebody who has ever been in my shoe, but if there is than he/she can understand me. The solution is a series. Serieses are mostly between 30 and 50 minutes so they are the best choices.

I have seen my first series three or four years ago. It was Pretty Little Liars. I loved it! When I finished it I felt that I need something like that and since then I am a fan of series. After PLL I start Gossip Girl which was awesome. Simultaneously I begin the Best Series Ever: Game of Thrones! After having this life long experinece I became very critic about what I see. I have expectations to watch the series as good as GoT. It is a big duty because there is almost zero series on this level but I have found one: Vikings. A masterpiece! Recently I watch Shameless, Friends and a Hungarian one, Aranyélet. 

In my opinion movies and serieses are both good amusements but we need to have the perfect time to enjoy one or the other.

Fiona Gallagher

Fiona is one of the main characters of the series, Shameless.

She lives with her siblings in the ghetto of Chicago. She was only 18 when her mother left them alone. At that point Fiona had two choices: she go away and leave her little brothers and sister behind and then they were taken to an approved school, or she stay and take care of them. She decided to stay. This decision effected that Fiona left school, because she had to find a job and earn money. Her father Frank does not give them any help. 

It is not easy to raise five children, especially when you are a teenager and it’s even harder if we are talking about Gallaghers. These guys are problematic but it is understandable because they don’t have a good parental idol. They have seen only their bipolar mom and alcoholic dad and know they have a big sister who is trying to keep the family together.

Fiona is always making her best and she is doing a good job because every time someone is in trouble she is there to fix it. 

There is a question that everybody asks her all the time: What about your life and your plans to the future? She answered that the future is not here yet and what really matters is the present. If they had food, electricity and running water or not. The future can wait.

Shameless

This series is about a modern family living in Chicago. Gallaghers are very chaotic. There is the father Frank Gallagher, who is an alcoholic. He doesn’t have a job and feels no responsibility for his children. The children.  He and his wife have a several of children.

The oldest is the 20 years old Fiona. Then they have a boy Philip but for the family and friends he is just Lip. Then the red haired Ian. Their second daughter is Debbie, and Carl who is not much younger than his sister. The youngest one is Liam who is around two years old. He is quite different from the others because he has black skin.

Monica, the mother has left her six children and her husband and nobody knows where she is.

When our story begins, Monica has already left so what we only know is that the siblings are on their own in the family house. Fiona, the big sister takes care of her siblings and lead the household. Frank still doesn’t care about them, sometimes he goes home but just to sleep and eat.

The older siblings work and try to help the little ones. They raise each other.

There is a lot of fun and adventure in this series. I really suggest it everybody, who wants to laugh and cry at the same time.
