Don’t call it a throwback. Just a long post showing appreciation for my mate @stewpercent. Don’t worry he’s not gravely ill or anything I just want to show some appreciation for my pal. We met 13 years ago or something daft after he responded to an advert on Gumtree to play the drums for a band I was in and I had considerably less facial hair and even more questionable hair on my head. Stewart and his Toyota Carina estate took us to many many places including Chorley (they talked funny there) where we learned that the big Tesco sold booze after 10pm; great result! (Scottish people will understand this delight) and we played at a venue that resembled a room from inside the Titanic before it sank. There was also the Dunoon gigs but those warrant a separate post sometime in the future perhaps. It wasn’t really until Stewart left that band that my appreciation for said friendship was realised. I made the effort to keep in touch. It’s safe to say life has its ups and downs and I’ve moved house more times than I’d care to think about right now but to this day we’re still friends. He’s married to an amazing wife, he has a funny little son and another child on the way. He lives in Worcester now where I’m told you can’t buy Worcester sauce from which perplexes me a little. He has much less hair on his head now, I reckon it’s that night in Chorley that caused that after we witnessed a girl smash up her own kitchen and then sit and cry laugh amongst the remains of her Dads crockery collection. I’m working on a band again with Stewart, it’s very early days but who knows maybe the Toyota Carina will ride again in the future. Swipe to see my great collection of polo shirts from 2006. First run in something like nearly 10 months. Not a great distance, my breathing was all over the gaff, got lost twice, came to a dead end and had to dodge untold amounts of dog shit. My right knee has been in near constant pain for a prolonged period and it’s been bumming me out and I’ve definitely let it get the better of me so decided to put mind over matter and tackle it. Proper missed running, it’s something I’ve always enjoyed to a degree and something I’ve been sorta ok at. Made the mistake before of going in after a time away from running and thinking I could bash out a sizeable distance in a good time but this time I decided baby steps will help long term. Feels good to be back, this time of year running in the evenings always feels great; bang some tunes in the ears. It’s not too hot and not too cold and it just feels great. namaste.
