I really do wish I could do quads. I wanna run around on all fours and be a critter. I wanna explore outside. My body just can’t handle it as much anymore and it makes me sad.

My forearm crutches give me four legs to walk with, my wheelchair gets me closer to the ground, I go and lay out in the grass, but I still miss my able body.

I dream of living in the forest one day, but now I have to worry about healthcare and accessibility.

I find it really confusing how people still believe that transpecies is just a term to mock/hurt transgender people. Like... those two experiences are so incredibly similar to one another for most people.

Example:

You identify as something you weren't assigned as at birth due to your biology

You experience dysphoria/euphoria about your appearance

You may (wish to) change you physical body to fit your true identity

You may (wish to) have people use different terminology to refer to you

These descriptions fit both transpecies and transgender individuals. They're practically the same identity, just one dealing with gender and the other dealing with species.

"But gender is a social construct, your species is biological!"

...Okay buddy. Sure, 'species' in the sense of your literal DNA is biological, but your species identity doesn't have to match that. Same way your sex doesn't have to match your gender. It's the age old fact: identity ≠ biology.

"But you can't transition to become an animal!"

Since when do you need to medically transition to be trans? Last time I checked, I don't need a dick for you to respect my identity as a trans guy. By your own logic, I shouldn't need a tail for you to respect me as a fox. Just because you can't physically achieve a certain look does not mean your identity isn't valid. This absolutely applies to both transpecies and transgender folks.

As a German Shepherd therian, I’m very overwhelmed by how very canine focused the therian community is. Like u search up therian gear and you get collars, long fluffy tails, muzzle cages, things dog related. Even terminology is canine focused: Packs, howls, greymuzzles. Even Therianthropy Day is on a full moon, which is what werewolves are most associated with.

Even though I’m a dog, I don’t like how it seems that canines represent the entire therian community. The sheer amount of dog content that gets recommended to me just because I subscribe to the therian tag makes me kind of understand why some think there are “too many canine therians”
