Upper Deck, Sheeler, 1929
Based off a gelatin silver print that he took. Sheeler has a very limited color palette here but the range of tones and value is quite broad. He uses a mixture warm and cold whites and light beiges to replicate the upper deck of a ship. Many of the parts that the light source shines on have a warmer tone compared to those that are covered or out of the lights way.

Akira manga covers, illustrated by Katsuhiro Otomo, What I really enjoy about the covers is the use of red and blue as the primary color in both covers. In the volume 1 cover, blue is used as a secondary color to highlight some of the cover.. In the second cover the use of blue specifically on the metal floor and walls creates a cold. Essentially what you would feel if your were to touch one of those walls. The only use of red seen in this cover image is on the jacket of one of the characters and also in the blood.

magazine spread, c. early 00s, Looking through different trends of the early 2000s and late 90s one of the most eye-catching to me is the y2k aesthetic. the use of blue on see through material meant to create a futuristic feeling. Looking through other images from this era I see a large use of transparent material especially on technology. (will make an extra post looking at these objects).
