Sour Jars

So I usually post works and spells that would generally be considered “light” and positive but it is worth noting that Hoodoo is definitely not always these things. So today I am posting how to perform a sour jar. This is 100% a curse friendly blog and I will not tolerate any curse shaming in the notes. There are a million reasons people may feel the need to curse and it is not my place to judge. This is a defensive and potent work and it will fuck someone up so make sure this is what you want. The only rule to cursing and my personal advice on it is to feel NO guilt and be absolutely certain you justify your own actions. From my perspective, the universe grants us what we ask for and the concept of “deserve” does not exist. There are plenty of truly vile pieces of shit who will never be punished for the things they do and have done. There are just as many wonderful and amazing people who suffer for no good reason. The world is an unfair place, and as witches, conjure wo/men, brujas, magicians, etc in some form we seek to make it a bit sweeter for ourselves, our clients, and those we love. Cursing sometimes is a part of that.
A little history:
Sour jars are used to literally sour someone’s life. Sour jars can be used on one single person but are also often used to sour and break up relationships be it romantic, familial, or otherwise. Sour jars are considered defensive magic and aim to make the targets life miserable, sour, and otherwise destroyed. In my experience, most sour jars I have come across have bases of vinegar (*four thieves, white, and apple cider, all depends on the preference of the person). The great thing about sour jars is that they are highly customizable and like most folk practices, cheap. All you actually need is a jar, vinegar of your choice, a petition with the targets name, and your intention. In place of a petition, some people opt to use dolls but that’s up to you. Of course, there are tons of other things you can put in sour jars that make them even more potent but it is your intention and energy that make your works manifest.
Things you can use
*some of these items I highly recommend using gloves to handle. Also, some of these are not for the faint of heart. Hoodoo uses animal products so please don’t come at me in the comments. I always recommend obtaining animal products ethically.*
Hot peppers/Hot sauce- you can use whole chilis, chili flakes, Tapatio, literally anything spicy. You want this person to be burning and irritated. Spicy stuff adds great oomph to defensive works
Urine- take this one as you are literally pissing all over this person’s life.
Cat and Dog hair- This one would be specifically if you were making a jar to break up a couple because you want them to fight like cats and dogs.
Nails- in Hoodoo coffin nails are often used in defensive work and you can get these from your local or online botanica or hoodoo shop. If you don’t have any way of getting coffin nails you can use regular ones. In the vinegar, they will rust and give more power to the jar.
Spiders/Insects- These are often used in darker works for added negativity. You can imagine spiders and insects covering this persons life as it decomposes and falls apart.
Mustard seeds-excellent for making couples or people fight and also causing fights and misunderstandings in the persons life.
Poppy seeds-causes confusion and chaos in the mind of the target and can also cause nightmares.
Sulfur- be extremely careful with sulfur and I always recommend using gloves when handling it. You only need a little bit as this stuff is POTENT. It will cause a bubbling reaction in the vinegar and this is why a lot of people use it. It makes it look like there is literally a fight in the jar. Sulfur is also just traditionally used in a lot of hoodoo defensive work like hot foot powder.
You can use 1, 2, or all of these. I have had a lot of personal success with many of these ingredients. When I am working my jars I work them for 7 or 9 days and burn candles on the top of the jar. I usually use black if it is a revenge or curse jar like I’ve described. I burn a candle each day and let them burn out. I also shake the jar every day to keep the energy moving. I also usually wrap my jars in aluminum foil so no light gets in. You want the targets life to be dark and despairing and for them to have to look at all the destruction with no way out in sight. After my 7 or 9 days, I discard the jar. This is traditionally done by leaving it in a river or a body of still water. I have in the past just thrown the jar in the trash because that’s what the person is to me: garbage. Some people interpret this as “throwing the magic away” and I get that but living in a city now nature is hard to come by and folk practice is about making things work for you so to each their own. While I am performing the spell I make sure to cleanse myself before and after with cleansing baths or showers. I also do a cleansing and protection work after the 7 or 9 days. Happy cursing!

Waters
Hello darlings! Today I really want to talk about magical waters. I’ll start with simple waters, then one ingredient waters, and then composite waters. Waters is pretty much anything like water that is used magically, so it ranges from storm water to tobacco and damiana tincture, and other stuff. Any of these can be collected whenever is convenient, but I added the time to collect them to make them more potent.
Natural Waters
Rain Water:
Rain water can be used for any spell to make it more potent, but it is a useful tool in peace magic, to quell anger, to relax, and for dream magic. Collect whenever you want.
Storm Water:
Storm water can be either protective or offensive. Use it to wash down your doors to protect you from hexes, and wash your tools with it to amplify their power. You can use it in any hexes or curses you want. To amplify it, add rusty nails to it and let turn rusty. Collect on a waxing gibbous moon.
Swamp Water:
Can be used in works for binding, hexing, or cloaking. Use when wanting to cause illness. Annoint yourself with swamp water to make yourself unnoticeable to others. Colelct on the dark moon (second new moon of the month) or on the new moon.
Marsh Water:
Marsh water is almost the same as swamp water, but it is more suitable for cloaking than other things. It can also be used for cleansing negative energies. Colelct on waning crescent moon.
Hail Water:
Hail water is melted hailstones. Use it for protection or hexing. Similar to storm water, but more aggressive. Use when you want to break sojmeone, or when you wish to cause physical harm. Collect during a full moon for best results.
Salt Water:
Salt water can be used for cleansing and protection from negativity. Simply add salt to water.
Sea Water:
Use sea water in works involving the psyche, or in hexing. It can also be used for cleansing. I use it to work with demonic forces as well. Collect on a new moon.
Lake Water:
Lake water is amazing in works concerning emotions, love, memories, or past life regressions. Boil it and drink it to enhance attempts for past life regressions. Collect on waxing moon.
Pond Water:
Use when wanting to bind someone, or to limit their horizons. Keep a flower vase with pond water in it on a table to silence a conversation to those not sitting at it. Collect on a dark moon.
Spring Water:
Spring water is super versatile. Use it instead of tap water.
Dew:
Dew can allow the witch to cast powerful glamours for beauty and youth. It is an important ingredient in love potions. Collect at sunrise during a waxing or full moon.
Self Water:
Fancy word for spit or urine. This one is a little nasty, but it is to be used whenever a spell needs to be tied to the caster.
Simples
Sun Water:
Bask any sort of water in the sun for a full day. Use it for cleansing, to bring positivity into a space, or for glamours of youth.
Moon Water:
Used to power up any spell. Let water sit in the light of a full moon for a full night.
Tobacco Water:
Steep tobacco into water for a week in the fridge. When strained, mix with 100 proof vodka, about 1.5 parts water for 1 part vodka. Use it to cleanse or to offer to spirits when working with them. Can be used to cause addiction in a person.
Saffron Water:
Steep saffron into water and mix 1 part water with 1 part vodka. Use to raise winds by sprinkling it in the air, or rub on your lips before whistling and raising storms.
Rose Water:
Use for love, glamours, and beauty. Steep fresh rose petals in vodka for a period of 4 weeks, and then extract all the liquid from the petals by pressing them until they have lost their color. Cut with 0.5 part water.
Orange Blossom Water:
Use for joy, beauty, cleansing, and sunshine. Prepare in the same way as the rose water.
Lilac Water:
Use lilac water for sleep, dream magic, spirit work, and cleansing. Prepare in the same way you would prepare the other flower waters.
Apple Blossom Water:
Create this by the same manner as the three flower waters above. Use for protection, love, and beauty.
Holly Water:
Holly water is to be used to protect your family. It will prick at intruders, or unwelcomed guests. It will also allow you to always have knoledge of the safety of your family. Simply steep holly leaves in water and mix with vodka. Do not ingest this, as it is poisonous.
Composites
All Bite no Bark Water:
A powerful water used for protection of a space. Mix together storm water, hair of a black dog, dirt of a grave, the ashes of psalm 7, rose thorns, teeth of a canidae, and three holly berries. Pour around a room which you wish to protect, or water protective plants to give their produce an aggressive kick. This water will protect a space with the ferocity of a rabid dog, and will not warn before attacking.
Fiery Wall of Protection Water:
Mix together sun water with three hot peppers, red brick dust, pottasium nitrate (saltpeter), sulfur, and blackthorn pricks. Another like the above, but more passive. Attacker might suffer a rash after encountering it.
Pitch Water:
Use pitch water to stop someone from making any progress. Mix together water from a swamp, gum arabic or acacia, charcoal dust, and chapparal. It can also be used to dissorient. Fair warning, this water is hella sticky.
Fuck Off Water:
Mix together sumac, apple seeds, thorns of a blackberry, cloves and storm water. Use it to repel unwanted people.
Goodbye Lover Water:
Mix together sea water, sumac, cloves, poppy seeds, thorns of a cactus, petals of a hibiscus flower, and saltpeter. Use it to get rid of unwanted courters or lovers, or to make two people break up.
I hope you guys find this useful! Make sure to be careful with any of the potentially dangerous ingredients listed, and put these to good use! Good luck my darlings.

Hand Tapping Sigils
This is a sigil method that I have made, and I’d like to call them hand tapping sigils. Hand tapping sigils are sigils that are made from statements of intent, and are acted out through the tapping of certain spots on your fingertips. Certain spots of a finger will correlate to different letters allowing the practitioner to tap out their intention, so that they can send it out into the universe, while also reaffirming their intention in their subconscious. This sigil method is charged through your own energy, and focus, and will be activated and sent out by the act of you doing it. These sigils are versatile, and can be used anywhere without tools, or attracting attention.
1) First, like usual sigils you need to make a statement of intent. I will be using this one as an example.
“I Am Protected”
2) Next you’re going to want to shorten that statement of intent a lot. hand tapping sigils can get quite complicated, quite fast. So in order to keep it on the simple side we need to only used the letters that really speak to your intention. It is primarily going to be the first letters of every word, or any other letters that you deem usable. It is really up to you what you want to use, but it should end up to be a small amount of letters, so that you can actually perform the hand tapping sigils. Feel free to put the letters in any pattern that you would like in order to make the sigil more personal and unique to you. This is what I ended up with for this statement of intent:
“A I P”
3) Now that we have our letters we are going to tap them out on our fingers. In order to do this you’re going to need to use the chart below, so that you know the correct position to tap for each letter correspondence. Now you are going to want to put your hands palms facing each other, and in order to tap the letter you are going to push it with your opposite hand, much like you’re using your fingers as a keyboard on the correct position that corresponds to the letter that you want. This would be like if you wanted to tap the letter ‘R’ you would take one of the fingers of your left hand, and touch it to the middle finger middle position, or ‘R’ spot in order to tap it. You would do this with every letter left from your statement of intent, so that you can cast your sigil. The letter that is tapped will be the letter receiving the pushing force. This is so letters that are on the same position on the opposite hand are not mistaked for the tapping of one another, especially after a quick succession. This could be used in order to discern things like a 'B’ tap from an 'I’ tap. You would most likely not only tap the sigil out once, but do it multiple times much like if you were chanting silently with your hands. that’s all there really is to hand tapping sigils, and they are simple, but effective tools that can be brought into your working, and could be quite useful from time to time.

Conjuring an Atronach
I kind of familiar conjuring spell but with atronachs. Now if you are unfamiliar with atronachs they’re from the Elder Scrolls games and here’s what they are by definition.
“An atronach is one of several species of Daedric creatures or golems, made up almost entirely of a single, pure substance. The name is sometimes applied to man-made constructs that resemble atronachs, but are not Daedra; these creatures are more properly called golems.”
Now Atronachs also come in different elements; fire, frost, air, storm, and the unorthodox flesh. (Well for me it’s unorthodox ya’ll can do whatever you want) Buuut we’re not gonna do flesh atronachs today.
Here are the atronachs as showed in the games (more recently Skyrim.)
Storm
Fire
Frost
Air
So depending on what atronach you wanna summon as your familiar the ingredient and item is going to change. Alrighty, let’s get into it!
What you’ll need
A taglock
Moon water
A small bowl
A small bottle
A feather for an air atronach, ashes for a fire atronach, ice or cold water for a frost atronach, and tin foil for a storm atronach.
A candle corresponding with the color of the atronach you want.
What to do
Pour the moon water into the bowl.
Put your taglock in.
Drip the corresponding color of wax of the atronach you want into the bowl.
Soak your corresponding ingredient into the bowl with the taglock.
Visualize the atronach you so desire.
Chant “You watch me with care, help me, protect me, become a friend.” as many times as you feel you need to.
Put the contents of the bowl into the small bottle.

Offerings for Deities
It’s been a while since I’ve made a post. I’m going to address one of the most frequently asked questions I receive: How do I give offerings? For some reason, many beginner books don’t dive into the specifics of this religious practice which many are unfamiliar with. Hopefully this will help.
General Rules:
Offerings are given as thank-yous, as little gifts to say that you appreciate the deity’s existence. They don’t have to be expensive, but they should be special in your eyes. For example, I often offer donuts or wine simply because I don’t buy those two things often.
Offerings should be appropriate for the deity you’re giving them to.
You’re allowed to get creative with offerings–in fact, the Gods even prefer that you do!
How often you give offerings in accordance to your practice is up to you.
You may give apology offerings for any offense you think you may have made.
Prayers, songs, playlists, and there intangible gifts still count as offerings.
You do not need an altar to give offerings. You can give offerings anywhere, at anytime.
Simply saying “This is for you” makes the object an offering.
Food Offerings:
Most food offerings are eaten after being offered. The main exceptions are Greek chthonic deities, and ancestors, in which case you do not eat the offerings. Research your specific pantheon to make sure if eating is appropriate or not.
There is no set amount of time to leave out food offerings. In fact, many worshippers will eat said offerings right after they offer them.
If you do not eat food offerings, you may throw them away, saying something like, “Though I discard these physical offerings, the spiritual offering remains”.
You may also bury the offerings. Make sure that the offerings will not harm the surrounding environment or animals. Do not bury them in a jar or plastic bag.
If you offer herbs, you may either burn them using a charcoal block or cauldron, or you may throw them out/bury them. While burning is certainly traditional in many pantheons, do not feel the need to if you will be bothered by the potent smoke or handling fire.
Liquid Offerings:
Liquid offerings are handled in the same way food offerings are, with the exception of oils.
You do not have to drink oils after offering them. (Drinking straight olive oil is pretty gross, and please DO NOT drink harmful essential oils!) I recommend pouring them into the ground outside, or into the trash can.
You may pour liquid offerings into the offering bowl, or, you may keep the liquid offering in a cup. I have a special teacup that I often use for offerings such as tea, but any regular teacup will do. After all, you are offering the liquid, not the cup.
Incense and Candle Offerings:
According to tradition, these offerings must be left to burn out on their own. I recommend lighting small tea light candles for these offerings, as big candles burn for a long time. However, some modern Pagans may blow, rinse, or snuff them out early to prevent a fire hazard.
Make sure to be present while the offering is lit, and make sure nothing catches on fire.
If you are bothered by incense smoke, using an essential oil diffuser or unscented candle works fine.
Although many Pagans recommend incense as a general offering, you do not have to offer it, or any candles, if they bother you.
Plant Offerings:
If you offer a plucked flower, you may leave it on an altar or table until it withers. Afterwards you may throw it away. Basically, you handle it as any other friend would had you given them a plucked flower.
If you offer a growing or potted plant, tend to it as you would your other plants. If it dies, that’s okay. Simply discard it as you would normally. The Gods understand that plants die, and They appreciate the beauty of plants while they last.
Other Offerings:
For objects such as stones, shells, or family heirlooms, keep them on the altar or somewhere else special. Ideally, you will not need to throw these away. If they get damaged somehow, and if you cannot repair them, you may throw them out, but give an apology offering and try to replace them.
For artworks or crafts, place them on the altar or hang them somewhere. Don’t sell your offerings; they are gifts you gave to the Gods and not yours to sell.
For songs, play or sing them anytime you’d like to connect or give something to your deity.
For writings, you may keep them, or some people might burn them to “send” to their Gods. Whichever way is up to you.
For e-shrines or other technological offerings, keep them saved in their own folder, keep them nice and up-to-date.
For magical tools, such as grimoires or wands that you dedicate, feel free to use them as normal. Just take care of them, and remember to thank the deity you devoted them to once in a while.
For daily or private actions, such as cleaning, giving to others, etc., simply think “This is for you” or send your energy to the God, and finish the action.
You may say prayers out loud, write them down, or simply think them in your mind. All are perfectly legitimate.
I hope I got all of this. Feel free to reblog or message with corrections, since I know I don’t know everything about every pantheon. Have a beautiful day, and have fun worshipping!! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧

Harry Potter Inspired: Magic for a Slytherin
Hello everyone! Thank you to all the people who gave such kind feedback on this series! Today, in the final installment of this “series within a series”, today I’m going to talk about the symbolism, correspondences, and values of the Slytherin house and how they can relate to modern witchcraft. Enjoy, and keep watch for further Harry Potter inspired spells and posts!
Slytherin
“Or perhaps in Slytherin you’ll make your real friends. Those cunning folk use any means to achieve their ends.”
-The Sorting Hat
General House Info:
House values: Resourcefulness, cunning, ambition, leadership, determination, cleverness, fraternity, power
Notable members: Draco Malfoy (and his family), Tom Riddle (aka Voldemort), Severus Snape, Regulus Black, Merlin
Founder: Salazar Slytherin
Magical Info:
Colors: Slytherin’s colors are green and silver. In modern magic, green is associated with money, prosperity, healing, luck, and harmony. Green may also be used in spellwork relating to fertility or growth. In modern witchcraft, silver is associated with intuition, dreams, meditation, and psychic growth. In Wicca and some branches of Paganism, silver is often associated with the Goddess and the Moon.
Animal: Slytherin’s animal is the snake or serpent. In modern magic, snakes are associated with wisdom and cunning. They are particularly used in magic relating to rebirth, transformation, and the cycles of life.
Element: Slytherin is often associated with the element of water. The books don’t say anything specifically about the houses being connected to elements, but the fan-base has roughly associated each house with an element. Water is the element of emotions and dreams. It is often used in magic and spell work relating to divination, healing, psychic power, and cleansing/purification.
Herbs to help the Slytherin: Thyme, paprika and cayenne for magical power and strength. Meadowsweet and apple to encourage friendship and brother/sister-hood. Rosemary for cleverness and cunning.
Crystals to help the Slytherin: Carnelian to increase ambition and drive. Clear spinel and kaolinite for resourcefulness and determination. Imperial topaz for leadership as well as to keep pessimism away.
Magic for the Slytherin: In the Harry Potter books, it is seen that many Slytherins show a certain aptitude for potions (For example, both of Harry Potter’s potions professors, Severus Snape and Horace Slughorn, were Slytherins). Because of this, modern Slytherins may enjoy kitchen witchcraft or making magical brews, teas, or oils. Slytherin also has a certain reputation for producing “dark” wizards, most notably the infamous Voldemort (though it should be noted that not all Slytherins are ‘dark’, and not all ‘dark’ wizards are Slytherins. Keep in mind that Peter Pettigrew was a Gryffindor, and Quirinus Quirrell was a Ravenclaw). Some Slytherins may enjoy performing curses or baneful magic. Almost all known Occlumens in the Harry Potter universe are Slytherins, Slytherins may possess a talent for occlumency, the art of keeping your mind safe from invasion, manipulation, and “mind reading”. This may indicate that modern Slytherins may possess a certain talent for shielding and self-protections. Slytherins may also enjoy incorporating the above colors, animals, elements, herbs, and crystals into their spell work.
I hope you enjoyed! Keep in mind that no two Slytherins are alike, so not all Slytherins will benefit from all of the above magical information. This concludes my “Magic for the HP Houses” series, but there are still more Harry Potter inspired posts to come! Thanks for reading,
Livi
Pssst: Much of the info about Slytherin values and correspondences was appreciatively sourced from here

Cloaking Spell for Witches
Okay, so I am literally shaking with fear because I can’t stop thinking about my mom finding out I’m a witch. So, this spell is to help combat that and also keep them from finding out. SO. Here it is:
What you’ll need:
Black Fabric (not very big, only a few inches x a few inches)
Clear Quartz (or any very clear stone/marble/etc. The fact that it’s clear is the big thing here)
Paper and Pen
Tiny Rubber Band
Begin by writing your intent on the paper. Make sure to write your name and birth date on it somewhere. It could be that you don’t want to be noticed in class, by your parents, etc. Then fold it up and put it on top of the black fabric. Now, bundle it up and close it with a tiny rubber band or whatever you’ve got. you can even sew it closed.
Hold the clear quartz in your hand, and imagine your form or whatever you’re hiding becoming as clear as the stone. Will it to be so, send your energy towards the thought. And say this optional chant:
“Clear as quartz, Cloaked in black, Never will you find (me, it, this out, etc).”

Cheapo Altar Tips
• There’s lots of free stuff outdoors. Acorns, cool rocks you find, pine cones, seashells, flowers, leaves, etc.
• Put a small jar or glass outside in the rain to collect water for your altar
• Put a small jar or glass of water outside during a full moon to make moon water for your altar
• A small dish of iodized salt for purification, cleansing, and to represent the earth element
• Print out artwork of a deity you honor, or a master you follow, or even just someone you love and respect (Mikao Usui, Amma, your grandma, the goddess Brigid, Jesus, etc)
• You can buy cheap candles at the dollar store. Choose a color and a scent that resonates with the theme of your altar. If it’s a seasonal altar, buy accordingly. If it’s a self-empowering altar, just choose whatever your favorite is. If it’s a healing altar, maybe white or green with a clean, fresh scent would be best. You choose!
• Old tablecloths, curtains, and scarves can be used as an altar covering
• Food items like apples, spices, nuts, candy, etc can be added for seasonal flare (i.e. in the fall, decorate with apples, tiny pumpkins, gourds, hazelnuts, cinnamon sticks, etc)
• Draw symbols, sigils, or runes of your choice on rocks you find, pieces of paper, or wood chips to add to your altar (again, choose symbols based on intent)
• Write down an affirmation, spell, or just a motivational message and tape it above your altar. Alternatively, you can fold it up and read it every time you visit your altar. It can help solidify the intent for your altar and empower you in the process :)
