It doesn’t have to be malicious to be ableism.
When you say “Aww” when you hear of someone doing something for a disabled person, that’s ableism.
When you feel inspired because you saw a story about a disabled person going on with their life “despite their disability” and you’re able bodied, that’s ableism.
When a parent of a disabled child says their child taught them so much about life and what it means to live, that’s ableism.
When disabled kids are called sweet little innocent angels just because they’re disabled, that’s ableism.

News media outlets refuse to show white men committing violent crimes. The issue is that when a white man kills he’s just a “man” but when a black man kills he’s “a BLACK man/thug”. The headlines provided by these news outlets are obviously biased and racially curved to paint a certain picture about each races crimes. This man will be painted as a someone’s who’s mentally troubled and the issue will be blamed on his upbringing and frail grip on reality. But a black man will be paired as being fully aware but not caring. He would be a  heartless thug who thrives off of violence and so forth. So the issue isn’t whether a black person killed an innocent person before but how the media tried to save white criminals from backlash.

We are appalled by President Trump’s tweets about banning transgender people from military service. There are an estimated 15,000 transgender people already working in the Department of Defense, putting their lives on the line to protect our nation and its values. Those values do not include the heartlessness exhibited by Mr. Trump this morning. Discrimination has no place in our government, in our workplaces, our schools, or anywhere else in our lives.
While it’s still unclear what the actual policy ramifications of these tweets will be, we recommend keeping up with (and, if you can, donating to) the ACLU and the Transgender Legal Defense and Education Fund.
You can also directly tell the president how unacceptable his attack on American servicepersons is by using this form provided by the @transgenderfreedomproject.
We know there will be plenty of conversation about this on Tumblr in the coming days, and we urge you to take this moment to support and educate each other in whatever ways you can. And if you just need someone to talk to right now, there are people here to listen, 24 hours a day, seven days a week:
Trans Lifeline: A crisis hotline by and for the transgender community. 877-565-8860
National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: 1-800-273-TALK (8255)
Crisis Text Line: Text START to 741741
The Trevor Lifeline (@thetrevorproject): Confidential hotline for LGBTQ+ young people. 1-866-488-7386
The GLBT National Help Center: Free and confidential peer support for the LGBTQ+ community at 1-888-843-4564. Youth Talkline: 1-800-246-7743

Friendly reminder:
Mentally ill boys exist. Mentally ill boys deserve love and support and accommodations. Mentally ill boys do not deserve to be mocked for their illness(es), doing so is ableist and wrong.
Mentally ill boys exist, and they deserve better.

“A long-term study of children raised by lesbians found that these children were less likely to suffer from physical and sexual abuse than were their peers who were raised by heterosexuals. This is thought to be due to the absence of adult heterosexual men in the households (Gartrell, Bos, & Goldberg, 2010). Girls raised by lesbians tend to have higher self-esteem, show more maturity and tolerance than their peers, and are older when they have their first heterosexual contact (Gartrell et al., 2005, 2010). Children raised by same-sex parents seem to be less constrained by traditional gender roles; boys are less aggressive, and girls are more inclined to consider nontraditional careers, such as doctor, lawyer, or engineer (Gartrell et al., 2005; Stacey & Biblarz, 2001). Over the course of more than 20 years, scientists studied the psychological adjustment of 78 teenagers who were raised by lesbian mothers. Compared to age-matched counterparts raised by heterosexual parents, these adolescents were rated higher in social, academic, and total competence, and lower in social problems, rule-breaking, aggression, and externalizing problem behavior (Gartrell & Bos, 2010). There are fewer studies of children raised by two men, but gay fathers are more likely than straight fathers to put their children before their career, to make big changes in their lives to accommodate a child, and to strengthen bonds with their extended families after becoming fathers (Bergman, Rubio, Green, & Padrone, 2010).” ~ Martha Rosenthal, Human Sexuality: From Cells to Society, p.247.

Dear teen girls,
Stop abusing your boyfriends and yes what you are doing is abuse.
Stop:
Yelling at him in front of his friends
Hitting or slapping him when he does or says something you don’t like
Telling him he doesn’t have a choice when it comes to decisions that involve both of you
Telling him he can’t hang out with friends because you don’t like him
Telling him to not talk to other girls even if they are his friend
Forcing him to spend every moment with you
Belittling him and pointing out all his flaws
Calling him stupid or making fun of him for making a mistake
Threatening to break up with him if he doesn’t do what you want
Being emotionally manipulative and crying until he does what you want
Accusing him of cheating every time he’s not with you
Blow up is phone if he doesn’t text you every five minutes
Telling him you are the must thing that has ever happened to him and no one else will love
Physically attacking him when ever you are mad
Forcing him to have sex despite that fact that he said he didn’t want to
Invading his privacy by going through his phone
Getting mad at him for changing his password and demanding he tell you what it is
If a guy did any of these things to a girl it would be considered abuse but since its the other way around its considered normal. Throughout High school I saw many girl treating their boyfriends like shit. Sometime even physically abusing them in the hallways and no one trying to stop it because its a girl attacking a boy.
Boys: If your girlfriend does anything on this list leave her. It is abuse and you deserve better.
Girls: if you find your self doing anything on this list to your boyfriend you need to knock it off because you are being abusive.

I am sorry to young trans kids and ace/aro kids. I am sorry that while you’re trying to figure out your sexuality and gender identity (which is already hard enough) you’re being excluded and discriminated against by the only community that is always supposed to be by your side.
I am sorry that you face violent harassment in the form of transphobia and aphobia every time you log onto Tumblr.
I am sorry that every trans positive or ace positive space is invaded by transphobes and aphobes.
I am sorry that you can’t get the support you need because of these disgusting human beings who want to hurt young trans and ace/aro kids so bad.
I am sorry that our generation of the LGBT+ community cannot get it together so that you can feel safe and supported. I am so, so sorry.
